It's a bit sad to see "the last Legends story" coming to an end, but it was clearly coming sooner rather than later. I hope it gets a proper conclusion, and I wonder if this'll lead to the later expansions being made free-to-play. I've only recently finished the base game in a second class, but I imagine the game will have plenty of time in "maintenance mode" for me to play through the rest of the stories.
Yeah, I don't see anything here than necessarily means it's ending for good. ...conversely, if it is, think they'll remember Jadus is still a loose end?
I would be every happy if the game continues, but no more updates means it will be over. And that makes me sad in a way that is hard to describe. This has been the bright spot of the EU since is launched, now to have it ending (dying as people have been predicting/hoping since launch), makes me very sad. To see this go is the end of an age and this combined with the ending of the comics collections means there isn't much for me to look forward to in Star Wars and I gave canon a shot.
Who knows. If it is indeed ending and it's because they are about to start developing old republic material for canon you may enjoy some of that. There is enough room in the Old Republic era to tell pretty much as many stories as they want.
Where did they say "no more updates?" I saw quite the opposite in the linked article, that updates will continue beginning with 7.3.
People are mainly talking about further expansions after Legacy of the Sith. That is what seems to be in question right now.
It depends how 7.4 will be and beyond. What is the difference to have Arcann and Senya but not Sahaar Kateen and Ri'Han as companions? Major Anri and the Padawan Arn Peralun are suggested to be introduced as a new romance companion if it will be. I'm not sure about Tau Idair and Darth Rivixx. The continuation for the story are important for me as AusStig wrote earlier to keep me playing SWTOR. My wishlist is to have Sahaar and Ri'Han as future companions and more story. I have at least my Vette for my SW "Let's go, Skippy. I have to kill this....sweet!" "Grumpy pants"
There are many words I have to describe EA and aspects of BW's leadership, and all of them are negative. DA4 has been in development hell, and is increasingly looking like a Weekend at Bernie's/Duke Nukem Forever situation. Anthem was a terrible idea from inception. Mass Effect died (for many) with 3, and Andromeda was crippled by its own development issues and mixed reception. SWTOR was one of the last consistently updated properties that gave legitamacy to BW's brand. I do not understand what's internally happening with this company at all.
It will not be the same, the Old Republic from the Tales of the Jedi to KOTOR to Darth Bane, was a big part of my Star Wars journey. I was lucky enough to be at the right ages to enjoy them most. This is the end of that. Maybe Disney is going to "re interpret" some of it (also where did you get that the idea disney is doing anything with the old republic era), but it won't share with the older stuff, it never does new stuff ALWAYS runs over and destroys the old. And I have just not enjoyed canon as much, even HR (which isn't bad) I am falling behind on, but it's just not great for me. Maybe it is a me thing, but I am just getting what I would like from Star Wars, between the end of SWTOR, taking TTT as basis for new shows/movies and legitimising I, Jedi, I don't see anything for me or to support my continuing fandom of New Star Wars.
Secondary sources did provide a lot of detail between 25,000 BBY and 7,000 BBY. The Atlas, Guide to Warfare, especially.
It is coming in the next wave of "Essential Legends" books, saying "This is a legends book people should read", and I HATE I, Jedi, it is a bad fanfic that insults the best trilogy of the Bantam era, whether it means to or not.
And how exactly is that “legitimising” in the grand scheme of Disney!Canon…? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The thing that bother me about The Old Republic MMO is that we never really got a book detailing all the adventures from the start to now. This one piece of legends was allowed to exist when everything else was canned. I loved everything from the Tales of the Jedi to the Old republic, Darth Bane books. I mean that whole wath was amazing between the novels, comic books, and video games there was this expansive war between jedi and sith that was way better and exciting than anything that came afterwards. Funny that I say that. Now with that said, I did like the clone wars stuff (legends), the new jedi order, the aftermath of Order 66, etc, but most of the stories were pre-Disney. Some of the Disney star wars stories are good but to me they never reached the level of before. But Ive already said that before.
I never said it was canon, though that may have been implied, sorry. The SWTOR Encyclopedia has the info from the start of the game to Ilum. But nothing beyond. Thanks @darklordoftech Did not expect to see 7.3 so soon. Interesting.
I recall reading that at one point KOTOR 3 and SWTOR were going to be separate things. I wonder which parts of SWTOR were going to be in KOTOR 3 and which parts were always going to be in SWTOR. I wish they would release the SWTOR Encyclopedia on Kindle or something like that. I also think that the SWTOR tie-in books, comics, etc. we would have are one of the great losses of the sale of Lucasfilm and the discontinuation of Legends. I’d love something clarifying the timeline of Revan’s and Malak’s quest for the Star Maps and Star Forge and how it all connects to the Mandalorian Wars and their meeting with Vitiate. You’re welcome.
If DA4 flops it probably means the death of BioWare. I am sure EA will salvage something from its rotting corpse.
It's steadily approaching Visceral 2.0 territory. Some had hoped that Bioware/EA would merely contract Gaider/Hepler/Laidlaw/Darrah/Kristjanson to help write(or let's be honest: ghost write) the sequel, but if Gaider's recent comments on Bioware are anything to go by, it seems that's not what's happening.
Tis alright, I thought you were implying that Disney and/or LucasFilm was making it canon. An easy mistake to make, that’s for sure!! Regardless, these quotes by yourself (that I have bolded) are rather more fitting and proof positive to me that the Old “Legends” canon is unfortunately and rather sadly about to be rapidly discontinued by the Corporate Mouse by year’s end. Legends was already defunct by 2014. SWTOR is just it’s last dying breath. It’s a long breath I will give you that, but Legends never was going to come back and each year since 2014 those chances became less and less
Apparently, according to Chris Schmidt, its not the end, but a “new beginning”. https://www.gamesradar.com/star-war...move-a-new-beginning-not-the-end-for-the-mmo/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
