I do not think that such thing like SWTOR canon exists. I remember that lead writer has said that he hopes that they will never have to establish such thing.

One legacy of the KotOR comics I will always be unhappy with is purple lightsaber Revan. IT DOESN'T GO WELL WITH HIS ROBES AT ALL, C'MON!

Might have been idea to just have him have always used red. Not least because, in the Mandalorian Wars era, there was no "red = Sith" connotation.

(Yes, I'm aware this is utterly unimportant)

 

The only reason I'm annoyed by the purple is because in Revan he went to sleep with a green saber and in TOR he woke up with a purple saber–and it doesn't appear to be a different saber, because it's the exact same hilt. SWTOR's beta even had him wield a green blade, but they changed it to purple for some random, unknown reason. Also: you can see a second saber on Revan's belt in that picture. What color will it be, red or purple? (If they're going to be accurate to KOTOR 2, it'll be red, because he had a red and purple in the Exile's vision on Korriban.)

 

I still hope to backstab the pubs after dealing with Revan.

 

On the subject of lightsabers, Lana's looks really weird.

 

Yeah, a little bit weird.

 

It's one of those red-blade/orange-core crystals from the Cartel Market. I've used them on some of my characters before but I've never seen an NPC use one; honestly, I'm kind of surprised they gave her one (although they have been giving NPCs more CM items of late).

 

Honestly not that fond of Theron and Lana still getting the main spotlight. I'd rather the focus turned more towards Satele herself, but I guess its just a sign of how badly they developed Satele's character back in the original game, and so are having to focus on Theron instead...

 

Why not? Theron is also a descendent of Revan, and Lana is a very cool character.

 

Okay, since I'm someone who's currently on his annual TOR update (and probably won't be finished until next sunday), excuse my ignorance, but is that guy with the spiky shoulders Revan?

 

Yup, I've heard that they have changed his lightsaber to purple because players wanted it.

No, that's Darth Marr. Since the Emperor "died," he's sort of been the de facto leader of the Empire.

What, they wanted his lightsaber, or they wanted a purple crystal–or they wanted Revan's lightsaber specifically to be purple?

 

I believe that they wanted Revan to have purple lightsaber because he used this blade in KoTOR comic and TSL (as a vision).

Ironically, the purple saber is kind of a badge of honour for the best duelists/lightsaber fighters in the game, isn't it?

 

Not exactly–you just can't get a (normal) purple crystal until level 50. No special achievement, just reaching 50. But there are other purple crystals you can get from the Cartel Market (light purple, purple-blade/pink-core, purple-outline) so it's not even that special anymore.

 

OK, I thought it was a PvP ranking thing or something. Level 50 makes sense, too, though.

 

You may be right–it could've been like that at one point and they just changed it to be Level 50.

These days its more like special mounts were a PVP ranking thing... well, until the Cartel market version came out.

Marr has been developed ok, but Satele is still mostly just a bland quest giver, outside of a few scenes from the Knight and Consular stories... and its not like those are referenced much anymore. There's supposedly one class mission coming up in the expansion, but I'm not expecting much.

I remember when Satele and Malgus were sort of played up as the major lore figures... then Malgus got killed in a launch flashpoint, and Satele is mostly just background. I hope they do a better job in the future with NPCs.

 

I will say not just Satele and Malgus, most of the SWTOR Sith got better characterization than the Jedi.
