bryson's bunker play is extraordinary like it doesn't seem to bother him at all, might as well be hitting off of the fairway or light rough
Honestly...I think most of these guys are like that. Unless you have those really nasty pot bunkers like they have on most of the links style courses, the modern sand trap is mostly a cosmetic thing in the pro game. They practice enough and have enough experience that the change of texture underfoot and the potential for miss-striking the ball are all but non-factors. It really is a part of the sport that has not kept up with the athletes. They need to either make the traps more like those pot bunkers...where it is almost a guaranteed lost shot to escape them. or You change the texture of the sand, making it lighter and deeper...so that any potential driving force from your feet can cause you to sink and the ball ALWAYS gets buried, even if it rolls in. I cannot recall the last time I saw someone land in a trap and thought "He's lost it now." It's just not that big a hazard. In fact...I seem to recall an event a couple years ago where somebody was aiming for a trap as the safest shot, and the commentators fully backed him.
This final round is feeling like a bike race. The peloton is chasing down the leaders. Dechambeau is in their sight. And just now Rose tied for 2nd
Justin Rose in the rear view mirror. And the CBS crew really need to shut up...they are gonna jinx Rory so bad. EDIT: And Rory finds a tree on 11. THEY DID IT! THEY JINXED HIM!
Went over to my father's and stepmother's for Seder and the Masters. Dad screamed in horror when Rory's shot almost went in the water.
And cheered when Frat Boy's did? I did. 4 shot lead. But Rose is the main chaser now, and he's got the game if Rory slips.
Abysmal display of putting for Dechambeau. If Aberg can somehow get to -11 or 12 it’s the only chance to put some pressure on.
This is either going to be a miracle or a tragedy. Rory got shy and it bit him. He needs the: EDIT: And just like that. it is Justin Rose's tournament to lose. Same old story.
This Aberg kid is really impressing me. Not phased by the moment whatsoever. Big smile. Playing his game. Any other day, I'd probably be cheering for him. EDIT: ROSE IS THE MAN! He has the eye! EDIT EDIT: At best for Rory, this is going to extra holes. He isn't picking up a shot here. He's just got to hold on. EDIT EDIT EDIT OMG!!!! AGAIN!!!!!
Aberg with a forgettable finish on the 72nd with a triple bogey. And of course that holds up the group behind on the fairway, which forces Rory to wait. EDIT: Great tee shot! EDIT 2: Oof, splashed in the bunker. Gotta get up and down. Sitting up nicely though.
