No, the first post about Luke said that he is a hybrid "half jedi half sith". This is wrong. Luke is Jedi, he is good, and a user of the light side. The Force is balanced because the Stih are gone and only Jedi (light side Force users) remain.

The point is that the Sith, or more specificly dark side Force use creates imbalance. If Luke were to be "half sith" or even slightly evil there would still be imbalance.

Well, I never said that I agreed with that. Neither did P_Dawg. We're saying that Luke is a Jedi.

GL said that Anakin brought balance when he killed the Emperor. The deeper question is how? What was the imbalance? How did the destruction of the Sith restore balance?

It?s very simple really; the dark side only draws on the force, it doesn?t try to replenish what it takes. That?s why the dark side is quicker and Sith appear more powerful. When a Jedi draws on the force they must think about maintaining balance because the force is in all living things. If you draw on the force and don?t worry about replenishing it perhaps you sap the energy of a mother in the middle of labor and a child dies. If you?re a Sith you don?t care so your path is quicker, but you create an imbalance. If your kind continue unchecked the force will be slowly eroded and your source of power will diminish.

It is probably also related to the proximity of the dark force user. This is why the Jedi Council has lost some of their power in the force. Sidious is on the same planet as them and he?s drawing on the force constantly without replenishing it. There are trillions of people on Courscant so determining the source of their power loss is difficult for the Jedi, but it is obvious to them that their power is diminishing.

Jedi do care about drawing on the force and so while their path is longer and requires more discipline in the end it is more powerful because it doesn?t take without replacing. When the Sith die off the only force users left replace what they take and thus balance is constantly maintained.
