ST The relationship between Finn and Rey. SEE FIRST POST WARNING

Huh. I wonder what she's gonna play. I really hope her character didn't get cut down to a Jess Pava-sized role, it's kind of frustrating to see all of the women of color shoved under the rug. Laura Dern was cast, too, but she's in her 50's, I believe, so it's safe to assume she isn't playing Finn's love interest.

I find it extremely interesting that the people they cast are completely different from the ones they were originally looking at. There's also been no mention of any chemistry reads. I wonder if the roles had to be completely changed?

 

Yeah Kelley Marie Tran seems like the Female Knight of Ren.

 

I think Karie's role got written down a lot tbh, no mention of chemistry reads with her either. She might just be a squad mate of Finn, and it also seems like they are picking up right where they left off in episode 7.

Poe and Kylo had chemistry! Finn and BB-8 had chemistry. All the actors had chemistry with each other - that was part of the joy and optimism of TFA. That's probably why the shipping pool is so vast.

Chemistry in high tension dramatic scenes aren't easy, per se, but easier to execute because there is a tangible, dramatic through line to play with. Ask an actor, the most difficult scenes to shoot where there is supposed to be chemistry are the scenes where there isn't an underlining dramatic tension and subtext. There's nothing to "sink their teeth into."

The Rey and Finn scenes are great because they are common, ordinary, easily relatable scenes and still seem to be real/not forced and refreshing. That's what stood out to me.

I'm not against a Kylo redemption, I just don't see how the writer's can get Kylo around, essentially, the 1st degree murder of Han Solo, his father. It seems damning to me, on a SW level, on a social level, on an audience level, on a psychological level.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if LF/Disney put out misinformation to get the sniffers off the scent of what they're really doing. They know there is fevered interest in Ep VIII.

 

Hmm I'm ain't sure about that. Its possible, but I think she is the one Finn is going to be around maybe.

We don't know enough to know what we don't know yet. This is a giant wait and see. When they press release casting info it is a SAG thing, not an informational for the public, though they know the public will get it.

IDK she is i her late 20s and she has a kinda darkness in her eyes.

 

Its very possible, I think her being Finns li is smaller now though, because of her casting and "reasons" we shouldn't go further into.

The fact that people kept insinuating Gugu Raw, even though she was the first woman to announce that she wasn't in the movie, was because of those presumed "reasons".

Can't wait to see how the people saying that Finnrey was out of the question because of the Asian BO are going to spin this one....

I don't think she was cast to appeal to a market, mostly cause she is American.

I would love to see the final battle go down like that. It would be a nice parallel to the Kylo/Finn/Rey fight if they're still doing the whole poetry thing.

 

That being said I don't think Finn is FS, but I think Finn will have a blaster and a LightSaber.

I think it would be cool, to see Klyo kill Snoke and try to take over the First Order. I mean he wants take finish what Vader started, Vader wanted to rule the Galaxy with an Iron Fist.

 

I may be late to the party but they just released 15 seconds of teaser footage on when Episode 8 takes place and it looks like it happens right after the ending of force awakens.

I'm so convinced that unlike the PT where the Jedi were space monk I think the new Jedi are going down the Samurai Path. Jedi is a style and Way to use the Force.

Kelly Marie Tran intrigues me, as I know nothing about her. I knew nothing about Daisy Ridley either, and that ended up working out REALLY well.
