I haven't believed Rian would get another SW movie again but seeing TROS openly reject what he did in TLJ - that notion was just reinforced.

Yep, Kathleen mentioned it a few months back that they are working on the next Saga.

And I truly hope they have an outline of the whole saga, keep it safely lock to avoid people knowing it ( duh ).

Maybe we would see the first trilogy in the 2020s, and the second trilogy in the 2030s.

I think now they will go the saga route along with a few spin off.

TROS offers closure for me on many fronts.

That sounds forced and mechanical. The mold needs to be broken. The executive producer might need to change.

In order for there to be a new SW beginning, there needs to first be a SW ending. Episode 9 finally ties up some loose ends or allows new tie-in material to continue resolving stuff. Everyone is exhausted with trilogies and rumors of trilogies. I'm also exhausted with big names being attached to films without a galactic era set up.

Lucasfilm can't jump from Episode 9 into announcing a "saga route" with "trilogies" and a few spin off films..........if they do.......that makes our closure with Episode 9 too quick. Closure can only happen with no films planned and no names attached to new films.

In just as many ways that TROS rejected what TLJ did , it doubled down on other parts. Acting as if this was somehow course correcting doesn't fit to what happens in the movie. Just like you can find stuff in the movie that is both agreeing with and contradicting what the OT and PT were saying or doing.

Not that this is in any way meaningful for who is going to work on future Star Wars material.

Using that logic would mean JJ wouldn’t have been back for IX.

Incorrect, you took out context. JJ left the fandom in an overall good place after TFA. RJ not so much.

You said nothing about fandom. Your flawed logic was based on the choices that were made in TROS.

The decisions made in TROS were about the fandom after TLJ. It all is connected, I don't see the need to spell it out.

This thread isn’t for addressing whether TROS rejected TLJ, validated it, or a mixture of both. “Point that thing somewhere else.”

I think Johnson showed he doesn't understand how SW works and the importance of long established characters, given a clean slate and no baggage, it gives him a better chance to explore the GFFA. Personally I don't think this will ever come to fruition, not after TROS.

Well they have to get something and they have to have a direction. The hiccups have to stop.

I've said it in the past, but I think the best he can hope for is probably to convert these to a Disney Plus show. A Star Wars Rian Johnson trilogy in theaters would crash at some point before getting finished. He would have been better off had he never touched the Skywalker saga. Instead of messing up iconic characters, he could have shaped something entirely new. Now, I don't think he'll get a chance due to the overall negative feelings towards his Star Wars debut.

I think if he was fired we'd know. They certainly didn't hold back telling us they let B&W go.

I'd like to see him do the origins of the Jedi and the Prime Jedi since he touched upon this in TLJ and D&D were supposed to do this before being let go.

In a perfect world we would have Legacy as the next Trilogy.
