I'm reading the script for the interrogation scene now and here are a few interesting lines.

Rey studies him. She's fearful... but curious.

Kylo Ren nearly TOUCHES HER FACE...THEY'RE BOTH SURPRISED: they react to a feeling that passes between them -- AN ENERGY THEY RECOGNIZE IN EACH OTHER. And then it's gone. Adversaries again.

Ben IS the monster. Full stop.
I find it absolutely disgusting to invoke CF's name in favor of excusing brute violation. She sent a cow tongue and threatened a producer over treatment of a friend. Fighting back DOES NOT NEGATE VICTIMIZATION. What's sexist is pretending Rey would be swept away by a bare chest and puppy eyes, even though she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is seriously dangerous to her and a ****** person to boot.

Wtaf. They were both tortured. They're torture buddies! DR conveyed real pain and distress, the book makes it explicitly clear. Her torture was not less torturous.

What I...I don't even. It's not a compatition. By that logic Poe should ask Leia what its like. Hell, maybe they should both jump across realities, free Revan from the Maelstrom prison and then ask HIM what real torture is like.

A person's suffering is'nt invalidated becuse someone else suffered more.

I thought the eyes were the window to the optic nerve...

Reylo has been - bizzarly - a big part of the fandom since TFA. Hell, the only reason we had the kiss at all was to appease that particuler segment of fans.

Prior to JJ's sudden decision to retcon this series into being about the Skywalkers in the eleventh hour the ST was decidedly not the Skywalker's saga; their story ended in ROTJ with Luke's triump and Vader redemption. This story was about Rey (and to a lesser extent Finn and Poe*) and Rey is only made a Skywalker in hindsight and certinly has no legal or genetic claim to the name, even if her actions earned the right to bear it.

*I don't mention Kylo becuse he was the villian for the majority of the trilogy and the TLJ had him expictly reject his chance at redemption in order to set himself up as the big bad before Abrams decided to disregard that.

Kylo Ren and Ben Solo are the same person, lol. Obi-wan's nonsense pedantics regarding Anakin perishing when Vader rose aside, peaple don't suddently become different peaple when they decide to embrace evil. Kylo did'nt die, that's silly, Ben simply abandoned the dark side and stopped using that moniker.

They not only wrote her out, they replaced her with not one, but TWO hot action girls (trademark).

Regardless of your feelings towards the charecter, it can't be denied that they did her a diservice by bowing to pressure from a minority within the fandom - especially after the abuse a portion of that minority foisted on KMT.

No what Carrie Fisher (rest her soul) would not approve of is denying someone - anyone - was a victim when they were clearly victimized.

Now, what she WOULD approve of was her resistance to the mind-probe. It was considerable

Carrie Fisher was the boss ass legend of boss ass legends. :leia:^:)^

And speaking of Carrie, does anyone think that after seeing how much they made Billie resemble her mother in ROTJ in this film that she'd be perfect to take over the role of Leia if she ever happened to appear in the Mandalorian or something set around that timeframe

What i also forget to write on my review is the same ending. This was a insult to all Star Wars fan. To all the people who defend the movie, tell me, why exactly we need almost identical ending, just like in the ROTJ?
Absolutely the same thing. Emperor get the good guys, and he threatening to kill their friends, if they not turn to Dark Side/to his side, and the friends are doing space battle. And their split and the other ones need to disable something(the shield in the one, and the generator in the other). So much identical, to me this is a huge insult for our intelligent.
What is the point to just repeat a ending of the ROTJ ?
Thats why i don`t like J.J. Abrams, TFA was a complete copy paste from the previous movie. His movie looks like more of a remake, not a completely new movie.
Sorry but i can`t never be okay with this.

Anyway the ending of episode 9 was just very bad. Sorry but didn`t get any emotion from me, and i can say the same for the people that was sitting next to me.
I`m so mad with what have they done, and they have the resources, and all the potential of Star Wars, to make the new movie even greater than the old one.
Disney should choose better who the director for the new movie needs to be.

You aren't supposed to like Kylo, he's the villain, that's the whole point. If you didn't like him, then Adam Driver and everybody else involved have done their jobs properly.

That is what makes the switch up to Ben Solo at the end quite good in my opinion, because even though he looks like Kylo Ren, Adam manages to convince the audience that he is a completely separate character. The man buried beneath the Kylo Ren character has won through.

But "the Dark Side of the Force" is a fictional, metaphysical concept of which there are obviously no known examples from which to glean evidence of how it works. Obi-Wan's "pedantry" may be true, there were certainly physiological changes to Anakin, he suddenly had yellow eyes. Nobody knows what grip or effect this "Dark Side" has on a person, it is a totally abstract thing. So all we can do is use events presented to us in the canonical movies and literature to glean how it might work. That includes Obi-Wan's statement.

I did notice how similar they look. I don't quite think Billie has the energy a young Carrie had though. Carrie had a strong presence I just don't get from Billie.

Point of this dialogue is that Rey did absolutely nothing that she would need Leia's forgiveness for. Ben needs Leia's forgiveness, not Rey.

I completely understand that but I don’t believe that’s the reason why they left Anakin out. The overall story was Anakin was the chosen one meant to bring balance to the force. No one can deny that the ST kind of side steps that part of the story. Vader’s helmet got more screen time but the chosen one didn’t do anything but a voice over pep talk. That’s because more OT references is cool but let’s stay away from those prequels. Story wise THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is acknowledging the Skywalker’s and passing on that legacy. Seeing the Skywalker’s together improves the moment when Luke and Leia shows up in my opinion. My issue is for me it felt like something was missing. I understand why Yoda and Obi Wan didn’t need to be there according to your explanation that makes perfect sense. Anakin is the chosen one who is Luke and Leia’s father, and Kylo’s grandfather. You telling me it would have warmed your heart a little more if the whole Skywalker family showed up together?

Reylo doesn’t mean Rey+Kylo. 95% of Reylo’s wanted Rey to only end up with a redeemed Ben Solo.

At first I really wanted to see Anakin at the end of ROS with the 2 FGs and was disappointed. But the more I think about it it doesn't make much sense to have Anakin there as Rey didn't know Anakin. But I think it was a missed opportunity to not have a FG Anakin defy Palpatin at the end.

Agreed, no one can tell me that she isn't in pain/distress here. Also JJ flat-out CALLED it a torture scene in the BTS stuff.

Yeah, and Vader tortured his own daughter, and cut the hand of his own son...

BTW, if you are not able to understand that Kylo is not Ben, rewatch TFA again. Kylo says to Han that he killed Ben Solo, a plot point that is key on TROS as Ben is able to "kill" Kylo.

Yep. Choked Padme, watched as a planet was destroyed (like Kylo) and massacred younglings.

And Anakin helped strangers who were stranded on his planet and was shown to have compassion for his friends and those closest to him. Makes a big difference in his eventual turn back to the light, versus Ben.

Kylo had the chance to kill Rey at least 4 times, and he never did that.

When he captured her on TFA. When they were fighting in TFA, before she used the Force. On TLJ, in the Snoke scene. On TROS, at the Death Star fight.

All these times, it was clear that Kylo was still conflicted. He always felt the pull to the light. And this even made him weaker in the Dark Side, as confirmed by Snoke.

JJ was the safe, boring, conservative choice to make the safe, boring, conservative films that Disney felt were necessary to appeal to the lowest-common-denominator fans and milk the cash cow.

The corporate overseers got exactly what they wanted from a director eminently uninterested in attempting to forge his own story.

As much as I hated the kiss, and I'm not trying to negate or "compare" the torture that Kylo did to Rey, but Luke did sense the "good" in Vader despite the fact that he'd killed off the Jedi, tortured Han, cut off his hand, and threatened his sister. Secondly, Rey did differentiate between "Kylo" and "Ben". Lastly, Rey was even scared of herself when she saw what she could become.

The message being, people can change, and it's never too late to change. And Force-endowed people can sense things in others that we, the audience, can't always see (much like Kylo sensing unease in Hux and Finn (in TFA). Even Rey "choosing" to be a Skywalker demonstrates how our actions come down to choice.

The Force itself is split into two sides: the living Force and a greater, cosmic Force. The living Force makes you sensitive to other living things, makes you intuitive, and allows you to read other people's minds, et cetera. But the greater Force has to do with destiny. In working with the Force, you can find your destiny and you can choose to either follow it, or not." -- George Lucas

I agree that this is a shortcoming of the films, but that doesn't mean Ben is incapable of change.

You don't compare Kylo to Anakin. you compare Ben to anakin. because they are the pre-darkside versions of themselves. You need to compare Vader to Kylo. even yellow-eyed Anakin who was named vader at the end of episode 3 by Sidious. that version of anakin who choked Padme. his actions were not of compassion. his actions were of power. but obviously people talk of anakin like he was a good guy... well how can you judge anakin like that and talk about Ben the complete opposite when even anakin become a monster that would have killed his wife and mentor PRE-Vader suit.

The dark side affected these characters and you need to take those side effects into consideration. because the dark side is meant to change you. you ain't meant to be compassionate. you ain't meant to be kind, you ain't meant to care. you are meant to just be about yourself. that is why the sith died out... they only cared about themselves.

I don't think Disney quite realized how hard it would be to make the Sequel trilogy. they couldn't have the sequel trilogy tarnish the saga so they needed to play it as safe as possible so it could please everyone and they could just get past it and call it a hit.
