I personally *want* Thrawn to have conquered a territory and be a powerhouse in the new Galaxy, especially with how that could be tied into him as a threat; Thrawn’s a proven Big Bad-level antagonist, and if he has a kingdom he’s desperate to deploy back home to “protect” the Chiss Ascendancy, that would play into his tragic villain aspects and allow for a view of what his “Empire of the Hand” could have done in Legends.

…But he could also just be trying to stay alive with he and his crew reduced to modest means, or even trying to oppose someone else in that Galaxy.

Thank you. That's a helpful interpretstion that is piquing interest!

If Thrawn is shown to have created an Empire in a short time in that Galaxy, it would show his demonstrable threat to this Galaxy. (Rather than it just being stated...)

Again, it could right now end up being that he’s just stuck with the Chimera there, or is going to turn out to be a de facto good guy, since we don’t have any more details than Thrawn contacting Elsbeth… but…

…There’s a lot of cool ways to build Thrawn as a villain if he remains one, but gains his own holdings in the mean time.

You could have a flashback show the wounded Chimera falling out of hyperspace over Peridea, spewing flame and tossed aside by the purgills in front of awestruck natives (with technology that could go from primitive to fairly advanced)… then cut back to find out Thrawn somehow parlayed that into headquarters, a decent sized army, and a small fleet of either new ships or brand new Star Destroyers. Doing that all by itself would likely inform audience members who don’t know who Thrawn is why he is so dangerous.

You could also demonstrate to fans who do know who Thrawn is, but debate his exact moral character, what interpretation best fits for the Disney era.

He’s been in Peridea for a decade, which I think is a reasonable timeframe to build a military foothold.

And it’s also worth noting that we don’t know the exact situation with the 7th Fleet, which was...I think something like 15 Star Destroyers and a few smaller ships. Going by Pellaeon, we can maybe infer that some of them were left behind by the Purgill, but it’s possible others were taken with the Chimaera.

I'm assuming that any ancient civilization that had the technology to map out and traverse multiple galaxies was formidable technologically, and thus if Thrawn gained access to any remnant technology of theirs that he is very powerful.

I'm also assuming that Baylan has little interest in Thrawn personally and that working for Morgan to help find him is more a means to gaining access to that other galaxy and what power may come of that as opposed to serving Thrawn.

This has raised the stakes for a story that otherwise would be chained to canon. It's going to be exciting to see whether or not Ahsoka and Sabine can steal a passage on The Eye of Sion. Or they'll fail (Possibly failure to work together) and have to find another route with the clock ticking against an imminent threat. There is bound to be more than one way to Peridea even if the end credit map is just there to look pretty. I've even seen debates about whether the animal depicted in the credits with the map is a Lothwolf or the Sabertoothed Cat from Tales of the Jedi. I go with Lothwolves who already once led Team Ghost through a mysterious passage once.

It's possible Baylan will be the true big bad here with his unenthusiastic sights set on something more powerful in the neighboring Galaxy than even if Thrawn has an incredible army built up. Quiet, smoldering motives are yet to be revealed but possibly predictable. I wonder if the dreaded "Entombed" episode of The Bad Batch will even be connected to these events in some way. A place navigated to by a special compass sort of like the map. The weird Tall Neck thing is a demonstration of the kinds of destructive war machines out there in Peridea and freaking Phee talking about wizards more ancient than the Jedi.

We only see the Chimeara being pugill’ed, but there absolutely could have been other ships taken off screen.

The fun thing is that Thrawn being trapped in a “lost Galaxy” (Go, Power Rangers!) could somewhat combine both he himself and the Katana Fleet from the Dark Forces book into one single plot-point/entity. And that’s why I think controlling the “gates” might be an ongoing struggle for the show…
Baylan strikes me as being less “megalomaniacal” Sith/Dark Jedi, where the ambition would likely be an unending hunger for power and rank, and more ultra-cynical pragmatist, bordering on “merely” opportunistic. I don't think he particularly wants a new master or a new cause any or than he wants to rule the Galaxy… but I think if he could gain the respectable and manageable power base of either conquering a planet or two or (maybe more plausibly) controlling the Gate to Peridea at Seatos and acting as an old medieval robber baron, he would, for the “humble” wealth and security that would bring him.

I could also see them amalgamating the Noghri subplot into the mix. I mean, yes, Filoni already canonised Rukh and the Noghri via Rebels, but it’s possible that the Vader/Thrawn concept of presenting themselves as a saviour to a powerful race of warriors while secretly stringing them along could be utilised for the Peridea natives.

Is it easy to get a tan in Peridea? Thrawn may be extra blue by the time we see him.

Anyone else thinking that Peridia might be the Homeworld of Yoda's species in this new galaxy?

Wake me up when Dorothy Lamour arrives.

I saw Bob Hope on Christmas Day, 1990, when he came to Saudi Arabia to put on a show for the troops during Desert Shield, just 2 months before it turned into Desert Storm. He moved slow and was deaf as a post, but he could still put on an act. Thanks for the memories, Bob.

I don’t know how much of a finger Dave keeps on the pulse of the games, so I don’t know if it’s intentional or coincidence that his ancient civilization settled on a planet that the Dathomirians came to occupy, just as the Zeffo had visited Dathomir itself in the distant past before ultimately retreating into the “great unknown.”

The idea of a Jedi mercenary itself is kind of an off one: the notion that an ex-Jedi (and former Inquisitor) would trade their services for money, which is uncommonly materialistic.

I mean that other particular Galaxy was important enough that the Jedi told the Younglings about it like a fairytale.

I’m wondering if that Galaxy will end up being stronger in the Force or something. And if it’s going to get into more World Between Worlds level of what’s possible; something to tempt Ahsoka and Sabine with.

Not really. I do however think it’s where the Nightsisters are from originally.

I think it would make sense if nighsisters itself are only using magicks of ancient people that came from there. Not be related to them but having stolen their magick for their own use.

I'm really digging this plot point. It'll probably be the best thing about Ahsoka. I actually think it's so good, I think Disney should've saved it for a movie/series of movies.

Yeah, especially as it may have just been placeholder art. Not least as we now know it was a Nightsister temple, and the figures inside the room with the key were Nightsisters, not Zeffo.

I still hold out hope that they are the ancient aliens referenced by Morgan. Just saying that the figures on Arcana were not Zeffo.

I have no idea who the Zeffo are.
But with your new avatar, you should consider changing your username to The Great White Calamari
