he probably did it himself...considering the fact that he's jealous and scornful of everyone else she's come into contact with so far..he probably didn't let anyone else handle her

Maybe once the trilogy is done and Kylo gets redeemed, the same people who have dismissed him will look back and see all the foreshadowing they've missed. Then they'll say 'wow what a compelling character Kylo Ren is!' Watching the ST chronologically and repeated viewings will do that. Just like their views about Anakin's tragic character.

It's nice that there are some people who didn't miss his depth and character. =D=

I think one of the main reasons why GOT/Asoiaf is such a massive hit is because the connection of the fans with the characters. There are no purely evil and purely good (with very few notable exceptions). They’re all very gray who did evil and disturbing actions. And yet the audience is very invested in them. Kylo Ren is just like that. I’m just thrilled SW made a very compelling character of him. Recently I saw top 10 memorable movie characters of 2010's and guess what? Kylo Ren is one of them. He’s the only SW character who made it there, despite of Rey’s popularity. They mentioned him as ‘the imperative heart of the SW’s tale and ends up changing the saga forever for better or worse.’

OK< I've been thinking about something. I don't have the link but there was word on the Internet that Rian requested a change in Rey's vision because it was important for VIII. So I'm thinking:

    Bespin - no
Rey and Kylo on Star Killer - no
Luke and R2 - don't see the point
    Young Rey - maybe
Kylo kills another KoR - I think this is the change so I'll elaborate

In the book, which is based on the script, whom Kylo killed is not specified. It says "someone, a warrior, take the full force of the lightsaber. he screamed and fell".

Now, MakingStarWars Synopsis below indicates that the lightsaber, not the map, was the original object of Kylo's pursuit. Rey and Finn and BB8 get the lightsaber to Maz:

    http://makingstarwars.net/2015/05/a-compiled-synopsis-of-star-wars-the-force-awakens/

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but Pablo Hidalgo said that a) vision isn't from the padawan massacre and b) that Kylo kills "clan leader". Which means that the scene from the vision is how Maz got the saber aka "another story for another time". And since her character is back in VIII (Oh joy!) they might use this flashback to explain how she's gotten it. Zzzzz.
Or maybe not. Because the actor who played the killed "clan leader" says that he played KoR and his character is listed on imdb as KoR.
Now, I'm confused. KoR are referred as "The Seven" but are they 7 with Kylo or without Kylo? Because after Kylo kills KoR, there are 6 KoR behind him and he is 7th. So If there are only 7 KoR including Kylo than he didn't kill another KoR. yet the actor Mark Stanley claims that he was the killed KoR. Apparently, he tweeted that confirmation. I remember that someone posted it here so please repost that tweet.
Anyway, long story short. I think that Rian may have wanted clan leader to be changed into a KoR. Book doesn't specify the character's status and old synopsis calls him "clan leader" (and so does Pablo Hidalgo). But the actor says he played a KoR that Kylo kills and those who know actor's face recognized him right away when they analysed screen caps. Question is, if that's the requested change, what's the purpose?

I keep picturing leaving the cinema after Episode 8 in a state of sadness finding out that Luke is Reys father. Just the amount of people that want this theory is scary.

LOL I thought i was imagining things there, he's even jealous of his own father's interactions with her! His face when he sees the friendly relationship she has with his father.

    Ok must sleep.

One thing is clear. Rian Johnson might ship Reylo harder than anybody.

No, not really. Maybe. We'll see. I definitely think that was the change. I remember reading something a while back about how Johnson requested a few things from Episode VII. One of those things was Finn not waking up from his coma, and the other was — as you pointed out — an addition or change to Rey's Forceback. The Clan Leader death shot is the one that came to mind for me too, as none of the others imply anything grander than what we see. And I would say there are probably 7 Knights of Ren total, including Kylo. 7 is a knightly number, very significant... 8 means nothing. One cannot have a band of 8 knights.

Some Reylo fanart credit to Daylight Moderations at Tumblr, spoiler tag for size on the first one.

vaderito, it's rumored that what Rian asked for in the vision was the part about child Rey/the spaceship and Unkar Plutt. This was supposedly the last scene to be filmed for TFA. Sorry, I can't remember the source. The guy murdered by Kylo is "Clan Leader" but you're right it's unclear if he is KOR. Seems like he is not, though.

Yes, and he probably did it very carefully.

Yes, but as we Reylo shippers keep being told, wanting something to become canon ain't necessarily gonna make it so! ;)

For every argument in favour of Rey Skywalker there's an argument against. If it does end up happening, then so be it, Jedi... But IMO it takes away a lot from the narrative and adds little. We keep hearing the word "weird" in relation to Ep VIII, and a "plot twist" everyone and their dog is already quoting as canon does not chime with that.

This all gave me the chills. The praise is generalized... but according to many we are just the Kylo Ren fanclub here, and we live in Denialville. We see the character with rosy shipping goggles and insist on whitewashing his sins in favor of a cheesy, sweeping, grand, epic love story that overshadows everything else in the galaxy, because seriously, we all just love the CW too much. And really, we're just a buncha Adam Driver fangurlz who want them to kiss and kiss and kiss, while systematically depriving Rey of any spine. And Kylo Ren is ebil to the max and completely unreedemable and there ain't nothing left to do with his sorry ass but have him beheaded ala Dooku. (Or WTF... he's much more interesting as a full blown unredeemable villain, we should want him to go ultradark, black as an espresso, because... kickass!)

They could make her Luke's daughter with any of three possibilities, and yet not change the story much (if they didn't originally intend for her to be a Skywalker)....

    1. Luke could adopt Rey in episode 8 or 9.

    2. Luke's former love interest (if any) might have moved on, married someone else and had a child....and Luke could therefore be attached to Rey and see her as the child he never had.

    3. If Luke was married, maybe his wife already had a child (Rey) from a previous relationship....so even if someone spirited Rey away to Jakku all those years back, he might not have been able to locate her. This is one scenario where Rey could be Luke's daughter and he would not look like an awful person for not trying to find her.

In any of these three scenarios, I personally don't see a problem with her having a romantic relationship with Kylo but some people might have reservations about it.

I don't agree with the Finn coma thing. The reason why is because both MSW and the Millenium Falcon sites shot list included that shot so it was an original scene, nothing changed. BB8 and R2 seem to have swapped when Rey leaves at the end, you are right with the clan and the seven. Kylo left with Luke was removed but little Rey with Unkar was added. There maybe more but am too tired to read and find both shooting scripts

Ewan McGregor was brought in at the eleventh hour to record his line of dialogue "These are you first steps" (added to the "Rey" they took from Sir Alec Guinness's "Don't be afReyd"). EM said on the Jimmy Kimmel interview that he got the call from JJ Abrams pretty late in the day. Perhaps it has no significance other than JJ wanting to make EM/Obi-Wan Kenobi a small part of the movie, but plenty of other popular characters were passed over, so who knows?

That'd be interesting, wouldn't it? I don't buy that Oscar was talking about BB8 in that Ellen interview. But I'm willing to accept I may be wrong.

We've talked a lot about how nothing makes it onto the screen by mistake. Do we believe that JJ and Co. didn't foresee the popularity of Stormpilot? Even the mainstream media talks about it (which actually doesn't occur with Reylo, no one dares). And Rian isn't helping by tweeting Stormpilot fanart. If this was all premeditated but they intend to go absolutely nowhere with it, not even subtle hinting in the following movies, they're such teases! I still feel like it's crazy how the one pairing that has the strongest canonical possibility, at least at surface level, Finnrey, is the least popular. Was that also a misfire?

FrolickingFizzgig Thanks for the info about 7 as KNightly number. I think that Kylo Kills a KoR has become a headcanon because after the kill there are 7 KoR (Kylo + 6) and that cannot make Kylo0killsKoR a canon. I just watched the scene again. The kill, than the 7 (kylo + 6) standing in the rain. Yeah, it looks like it isn't a KoR. I don't know why Mark Stanley tweeted that he played a KoR, though. If number is important as you say, than there's no reason to make them 8 unless Kylo has other title and isn't a Knight so 7 Knights and Prince Kylo or wahtever. But that doesn't make sense.

I think that fans fell in love with the idea that Kylo saves Rey and kills another KoR (aka disloyalty to Snoke) but reality is that the scene is likely depicting that stupid Maz flashback.

Diddy Minty Excellent point that adding Obi Wan's voice may have been the requested change. Yeah, I think that's it. Disregard my previous post.

No I agree with this also, as they replaced from the novel Snoke urging Rey to kill Kylo and inserted obi wan and Yoda instead. I think there must reasoning behind the switch.

This was somehow the funniest reply I've seen since I joined. Much respect.

We're definitely not the ones living in Denialville. That's all coming from people who like to say "every casual fan" fell head-over-heels with Finn and Rey as a romantic couple and are just waiting to fork over cash for the FinnRey romantic comedy. FinnRey has a really small support group... most people loved them as friends, but felt anything else would be awkward. I had many real life friends express just that to me. On the other hand, the praise for Ren was huge, both from fans and critics. Finn's reviews were a lot more mixed, and so were Rey's. Ren was definitely the most talked about and admired thing about this whole movie, despite the fact that a lot of people would assume that net was cast over Rey. Ren deserves it. Rey is a great protagonist, but she has more potential than anything. I expect her to shine in Episode VIII. Then again, I expect the same of Ren. Chances are his character development is just going to make him even more intriguing.

I like some milk and sugar in my espresso, personally. Bring on the milk and sugar.

Witness is one of my favourite movies ever. It's a brilliant film for all sorts of reasons, but the sexual tension between Ford's character and Kelly McGillis' is astonishingly portrayed. The scene where she washes herself in the spartan bathroom, and he's watching her in the mirror is...I need a cold shower.

Rey was too much of a child at the start of TFA for all of this, but by the end she was a very different person. She turned from Leia with sober responsibility - not at all the feisty kid with the Rebellion helmet. Kylo is himself an undeveloped adult, but he was taken down several pegs from his arrogant assumption of uber-power. The next time they meet...sheesh.

I found this on tumblr and found it interesting in terms of how our mind was teased during the interrogation scene at a subconscious level:

Image removed for possible rule violation (but you can check out the video and look for the specific moment described here yourself).

..I already reblogged this from this post by @nodark-withoutlight saying as much but I want to say it again so everyone can see it in the tag.
I’m sure I do not have to explain what this looks like, it’s blatantly obvious.
His profile fits hers perfectly and to get this shot, he was very, very close to her, closer than he is from the other angle they shot with him hovering beside her. They had to physically adjust Adam to get him exactly where he is in this shot. You can tell from the way he goes half-cross eyed looking at her face that he is leaning in - he is just inches away from her face to get this frame exactly the way it is. They cut back to her saying the line instantly after this, so it’s just a second they are so close and someone seeing the movie in its original speed won’t really notice it conciously.
It’s a “blink and you’ll miss it”-kind of thing but the audience picks up on it subconsiously. That’s why so many of us left the theatre kind of puzzled and intrigued about what was going on between them. This is why we think about their potential. Because we were shown it. (emphasis Camaro)
Considering the natural, logical and truthful progression of their relationship, this is as close to a shot of them kissing as they can get in this movie - because it wouldn’t make sence to introduce a flat-out romance at this point. Rey is scared and intimidated by him and he is just curious about her at this stage - yet still views her as an enemy.
But they went for this Shot anyway - they went for it. This is deliberate and it’s setting them up for something. It’s so obvious, it just might be why all the anti/s have their panties in a twist…

It would make more sense, story wise, to get rid of the mask. If he is moving towards the light it's the first sign Kylo Ren is fading and becoming Ben Solo.

Hmm I could be wrong? I heard that he Tweeted he played a Knight of Ren too. 7 is just a very iconic number. 8 doesn't have the same mythological ring to it, but maybe that doesn't matter? Either way, there's something weird going on in that scene. The implication seems to be that it's from the future, and that Ren is going to save Rey. I'm really curious about all the Knights of Ren. They're so enigmatic. Can't wait to learn more.

FrolickingFizzgig HOLY CRAP YOU MUST WATCH INTERROGATION AGAIN!!!! ALL OF YOU TEAM FORCE BOND!!!

Phew, guess what I have just discovered so I had to rewatch the scene again to be 100% sure. When Rey starts resisting, they play Kylo theme while camera is on her. When the camera shows him, they start playing Rey theme! This is totally crazy! Also, when Rey starts resiting, palm of his glove starts glowing blue like crazy! It's so in your face it can't be just random reflection from nearby light. casue there's no glowing before her resistance. But those music cues! I just can't with these two. There's so freakin much going on in that scene.

Also, the fan favorite "Don't be afraid...I feel it too". Moment before he says that, he looks surprised like "She feels what I feel" whatever that is that they feel. And then adds "I feel it too" as if to reassure her. One really has to watch the scene, it's hard to describe. But he is definitely surprised by something.

Camaro I just watched the scene moments ago. That image is a photoshop. There's no such moment in the movie. They Photoshpped 2 different moments to make them closer as if they are going to kiss. It's fake.
