ST The Romantic Future of Kylo Ren and Rey

Star Wars is more than just your typical boring, predictable action movie. Sure it attracts more guys than girls, but it's a space opera. ANGSTY BAD BOY ROMANTIC HERO shouldn't be unexpected of an opera

 

Yeah, I don't see all the **** Ren did to Rey as being set-up for Rey to fall madly in love with his brooding, tortured manliness. It's simply to make it Rey vs. Ren instead of/as well as Resistance vs First Order. All those things that Mars457 mentioned? Those are what movie villains do to heroes. It would be one seriously whacked-out romcom that tries to make murder, torture and a duel to the death against one another the foundation of true love.

And there is the minor detail of course that while Ren is certainly angsty and a bad boy... he's NOT a hero. Not even an anti-hero. His personal struggle is to be as bad as he can possibly be. He's going out of his way to be as evil as he can be.

 

It wouldn't be the first time in Star Wars two relatives got a little too close for comfort

 

The only thing that worries me is Kylo saying he sees her imagining an ocean at night when she can't sleep. And of course an island!! What island??? As much as i can understand her dreaming of an ocean, being raised on a desert planet but an island?? that's the ONLY thing that worries me... it's not a coincidence Luke was found an island in the middle of an ocean. You can even see rey thinking what the **** an ocean, an island? it's like she's thinking i think i've been here before. That's the only thing that worries me. Other than that they are not related as far as i'm concerned.
Can anyone provide me with a plausible theory why that shouldn't worry me?

 

It was just some sort of prophecy deal. Like, she flashed forward to the duel in the snow. She also got a vision of the island where Luke was chillaxing. She just didn't know it was a vision at the time.

 

The rumor is the island was the first Jedi temple. If Rey's vision include the future maybe that is why she sees it.

 

Rey had her accent before she was dropped off on Jakku. The little girl screaming "come back" had the same dialect as her.

 

Yes and even if Han and Leia thought she was dead, Leia would have been able to feel her death through the Force.

 

You people don't read, do you? Where in theis thread have we mentioned that Rey and Ben would have TRUE LOVE?

As far as I can remember, we acknowledge the huge possibility of one sided obsession on Ren's part and a duty of redeeming him on Rey's part.

Now if you guys can't be bothered to know the arguements you're jumping into, I don't see a point why we should make you understand our opinions.

 

Hell I'd have to take issue with the phrase "bad boy". Kylo Ren isn't what we'd consider a "bad boy": dashing, charismatic, and not the kind of boy you'd want to take home for dinner at your parents'. He's the weird, shifty looking kid who always wears all black and trench coats even though it's summer, and you're pretty sure he's one bad day away from shooting up the school.

 

I still think that Rey could be linked to Luke in many ways, mostly that she was a padawan. She of course has a force connection with luke, since Maz says between the lines that she can find luke so he comes back, the lightsaber calls to her...but whereas everyone jumps and thinks "it's luke's daughter" I just say that for XX reason they are related but not by blood. I mean who's going to buy the "I am your father" line AGAIN?? That would be sooooooo bad for scriptwriters.

 

Please, tell me something I don't know... Do you have any other original thought?

 

The main important basis for this whole thread is that Kylo Ren, despite all the horrible stuff he's done, becomes redeemed in some fashion and becomes a good guy. If you don't believe this could happen, you're not going to get any of the stuff we're saying.

 

I don't think Rey can redeem Kylo, he has to redeem himself. I'm imagining it happening more like Pride and Prejudice where his love for her makes him realize the error of his ways and he tries to make amends for all that he's done in the hope that she will forgive and love him. He must abandon his selfish, dark side ways and embrace the selflessness of the light. In the novel it clearly states he has compassion for her, and Anakin, the romantic poet himself, defined compassion as unconditional love.

Something I found interesting from the novelization was that it says Kylo Ren recognises the truth of Han's statement that Snoke is using him and won't hesitate to kill him. No matter what, I think Kylo will need to kill Snoke, but whether or not he does it and returns to the light side is another question.

 

yeah....he's not that 'bad boy type..he's borderline evil.....that's what makes it different...we've already seen people turn to the dark side because of love (Anakin) how about seeing someone turn back to the light because of love...Kylo can be the anti Anakin....but they would have to develop a hell of a story to make it work....

 

Of course it's possible...

 

Why did Snoke want him to kill Han and not Leia?

Angsty bad boy turns romantic hero hasn't been done in Star Wars.
No, Han was already a good guy.
So far we had a predictable romance by two good people Han and Leia.
And a wooden romance by two talking pieces of wood Anakin and Padme.

We want crazy love that overcomes the circumstances.

Also the reason that we ship is that the only gorgeous girl in this movie just HAS to be shipped with the most mysterious and handsome young man.
Yes, Finn, Poe are both young and good looking, and Hux is not bad either, but they are not so mysterious or Byronic.

You can't ship Kylo with other girls in these series: Maz or Phasma.
(Although a Mazlo thread would be fun!)

 

can I just say...Hux is super hot.....especially in his scenes with Kylo....

They could also bring in someone else for his love interest. I would find it hard to believe they wouldn't let him have any type of relationship with anyone- you would think he would want to carry on the bloodline.

 

And our ship is not too trashy!
We are not asking for Snoke to be redeemed through his love for Leia... or Chewbacca!

 

Yes, it's the future she sees. How is this hard to figure out?
