What's the worst they can do? I know petitions and boycott are popular choices yet not so effective always... Has there ever been an incident where unhappy fans caused something terrible to TPTB?

 

Unless they don't consider it a reveal. Rey was waiting on Jakku for her family. Maz told her the ones she's waiting for aren't coming back, but there's one that still can. Rey says "Luke."
If Luke is her father, Maz is essentially saying to Rey "your family isn't coming back, but your family could come back."

I guess it could be claimed that Maz was only talking about the person (people) who dropped Rey off on Jakku, of which Luke was not included, or Maz could have meant that her family simply wasn't coming back to Jakku and that Rey would have to go to them (Luke.) But both of those are stretches. I think Maz is saying that Rey is not a Browalker.

Seriously, if there are ever Reylo babies, no naming them after dead ancestors/mentors etc, that never ends well!

 

So what do we think Rey will actually DO in VIII?

All the speculation so far has her being essentially subsidiary to the alpha males and reacting to their choices. Luke will train her. Kylo will train her. Kylo will pursue her. Han will offer her a surrogate adoption. Finn will fight Kylo for her. Snoke will ensnare her. Snoke will inhabit her body. Kylo will inhabit her body (in a rather different way).

In TFA, she was plunged into a world of alpha males and had to survive as best she could. But she's showed that she has her own huge power potential, perhaps greater than all those alpha males. What choices might SHE make, beyond the alpha battle? What opinions about the Force might SHE have? If she becomes a power player rather than an object of interest to all the alpha males, how might SHE affect what will happen?

I'm happy for a love story to happen, but only if SHE establishes herself as someone who commands the respect of all the other players.

I hope Kylo had a speeder in the next film that looks like the one from the Art of Star Wars. He'd look so cool on a shiny black motorcycleish speeder. Then he can lift Rey on top of it like the Terminator

Oh man! The bromen of this thread already crush on Kybro(AD) enough as it is. Adding a brotorcycle to the mix would just be too lethal!

 

Rey's parents are a major talking point, just like how Finn being FS is ambiguous to the point of frustration. They aren't giving any straight answers or helping us with a process of elimination scenario. It is free marketing via word of mouth conversations and debate.

 

I like Rey, we like her on this thread, probably more than those fans who say they like her so much but prefer her to be just a jedi and don't ever know what passion and love is. That is cruel in my view, that isn't liking her. Another thing is why do people thin she is a great character because of her strenghts? That isn't a "good" character for me. A good character doesn't need to be strong, just, compasionate, brave or the such. A good character should be a compendium of strengths and weaknesses, like a real person. That's why I like Kylo, because he feels real, he bleeds when they cut him, literally. You don't usually see blood in SW but we saw his. That was visually powerful and symbolic.

I also like Rey, but not because she is a compendium of virutes because I have seen too many perfect heroes and making the hero female wouldn't make this trope any more believable and convincing, let alone copelling. I like her because she is afraid and lonely but at the same time brave, because she is generous but and agressive grumpy at the same time (she attacked Finn too quickly). Because she runs away from the light sabre's call in fear and rejecting her resposibility as a chosen one of sorts, but accepts it to help others in the end. I like her because there is darkness in her and this makes her be cruel to Kylo when she humiliates and brands his face and hurts his body. Killing him would have been deserved but that was tourture and not nice. Ah, but that is our girl, she is angry, hurt, scared and repulsed, so she has a nasty human reaction. Instead of liking her because she is all good, Iike her because she is a mixture of dark and light, although more light than anything. She is a good character and her flaws enhance her as a character, they make her better.

 

This is just too cool not to be in the possession of Kylo Ren. Be frickin awesome if they had it in the next one.

Agree, especially if it have anything to do with the name Anakin. New names mean new hope for the babies, he/she may have a better future than those before him/her

 

In my "headcanon" they'd have twin daughters and a son. What about Hilde, Esmée and Armin? ^^

 

The chance for that is pretty much the same as seeing him naked...soooo not gonna happen, sadly

 

Who her parents are. Not necessarily who they aren't. They already revealed that Rey isn't a Brolo. Revealing she isn't a Browalker isn't a big deal, either. There's still the mystery of who she is. In fact, I think revealing she isn't Luke's daughter opens up even more mystery and discussion, because then it's like "if she's not Luke's daughter, who the heck is she?" If most people are stuck on her being Luke's daughter, saying "well, no, she isn't" opens up more discussion.

Did we watch the same movie? When didn't she command everyone's respect? She schooled Han in flying MF. She shoots better than Storm Troopers. She gets Marry Me reaction from Kylo when she snatches his grandfather's lightsaber right under his big nose, even though he was furious when Finn held it. She gets Leia's hug over Chewie. Han offers her the job. Kylo kneels before her. The list goes on. basically, everyone who meets her is automatically in awe of her within seconds.

 

That brotorcycle looks pretty awesome.

 

Not Luke Browalker. He didn't look very awed.

I can just imagine Rey, going blonde and in full leather with big hear and breast tucked out sitting behind her man on a bike......NOT...she could have her own though....red

 

I want Rey to question her destiny... Why her? Why would her powers awaken now to the point that she's possibly tangled up in the messiest family drama in the universe. Talk about bad timing.

If this means that she is the one to help the Skywalkers fix the galaxy, then that's cool... But wouldn't that be like a weird mirror of Ben's situation? Like when Snoke is done with him, he'll be diposed of.. What of Rey after she helps Luke? Is thall all there is to her? Be a Jedi along Skywalker (and possibly Ben)?...

I want a moment where suddenly it's Rey who calls the shots, and everyone else turns to her waiting for her decision. That her choice will make such a huge difference...I honestly have no concrete idea what this situation might be since .. For now, it's all about the guys and how they will mold Rey...
