BBC News made mention this morning that moving the VIPs from West London (where they will be staying) to the funeral will be a logistical nightmare due to the expected crowds. Last thing they need is world leaders arriving with entourages (like the US President usually does). News said it's possible they will be driven there in coaches.

Article says the invitation was just for the President and First Lady - not a delegation. I imagine they are doing a similar thing for the rest of the world leaders to try to keep the guest list (and security issues) to a minimum.

 

The royal family wants a private, intimate state funeral.

 

There aren't enough police in London to handle the expected crowds and VIPs. News said they will be using members of other forces on the day and during the days where the public can attend viewings (Wed-very early Mon).

In Europa Universalis III it has almost no downsides because it enables you to choose from a pool of potential rulers. This allows you to maintain a high standard of governance to better push through currency reforms as you prepare your treasury to deal with the French threat (it’s always a French threat, the modeling engine has a known bias). Mind you, that’s a video game set prior to the ****ing steam age.

 

i know it’s happened before. Not in Britain, but different countries have done some form of it. Not one where everyone votes on the monarchy. Usually only nobility voting on who should be next.

 

It involved only slightly less bribery and corruption than elections today.

I do wonder what the queen left him in her will. It has to be more than just her dogs.
