I do think once again I'll be going to Celebration II. I think I was fired illegially (according to Union rules) and I'm meeting with one of the Union reps and my store's HR person tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get my job back. Even if I don't though, I will be at CII. I WILL! I can't manage a costume, but I do want to meet up with you all and see your costumes.

First time doing step-aerobics Bant? Yeah, it's pretty killer on your calves. Y'have to be careful that you don't overdo it. One thing I found that really helps - keep your weight on your HEEL (the one on the step) while stepping up AND coming down. Not only does this work your thighs and butt better, but your calves will thank you for it.

Oops, sorry. This isn't an aerobics class, is it?

Ummmm... well, sorta handmaiden-ish - I finally figured out how to re-style doll hair. I'm determined to re-do my Theed Amidala doll's hair into the ringlets it SHOULD have, instead of those nasty ultra-hairsprayed strands. Yuck! Gotta do a test run on a Barbie first, though.

Also, that reminds me, were any of the Handmaiden flame gowns (for the Padmé doll) ever sold SEPERATELY from the doll? Anyone? Hmmm... wonder if I could find 'em on e-bay...

tehe tictac!! I sewed(is that a word??) my sleeve shut the first time I put the sleeve on the battlemaiden jacket. Not my brightest hour. I had to go back and take ALL the stiches out. Woe is me!!

Yeah, I'm about to head over to the store where I worked. I'm nervous as heck. I shouldn't be, as THEY were wrong (I missed one day of work due to car problems and they told me if I didn't come in I'd be written up. instead they end up firing me), but I am. I hope this goes well as I'd like spending $ at CII.

Well, a little late, but here goes... Lots of wedding news for everyone!

Yep, as some of you in here guessed, I'm getting married in August to my fiancée Alison, which I'm simultaneously both extremely excited (and am vibrating into another dimension over), and very apprehensive about.

But in a good way. Those of you out there who've tied the knot in this forum probably know exactly what I mean, here. Proposed to her back in early December, and we're just now beginning to get things moving along, both of us being in school right now.

So here we've been, visiting planners, trying to get all of our ducks in a row, when, just last week, she tells me that she's officially selected the dress she's going to wear...and that I'm forbidden from even seeing it, on pain of death. Or not seeing the new film, come 16 May. Either one's not something to be sniffed at, I think. She says it's "one that we both looked at together," but she's not imparting that particular bit of data to me right now, and we looked at so bloody many (yep, I went along for the ride...I'm told that I might be half-gay, or something. Ah, well, it's all cool.) that I'd have no inkling really as to which it might even be.

Aggghh.

But what's wrong with a few surprises here and there in life, really...?? (And yes, I even confided to her that -- oh, wouldn't it just be totally kewl -- if she, um, waited until we see the wedding scene in the film, and design the ceremony around it...heck, we could even dress the maids-of-honor as handmaidens!! And maybe the best man, too. [face_shocked] But, I was only half-serious. Um, er, was I? I'm not exactly sure yet why I then awoke three days later in the hospital, but there's the tale... )

BTW, just downloaded the earlier draft of the screenplay, and was pleasantly surprised to see Dormé receiving a goodly amount of dialogue, particularly for a Star Wars flick. She seems to be Padmé's own personal lady-in-waiting now, whereas in the last film she had quite the retinue going on; and Dormé also has lots of character traits exhibited, too. She's quite the chuckler!

Also, in one of the Entertainment Weekly pics (and in the trailer, too?), it seems that Queen Jamillia has at least one close by her side, there:

(BTW #2 -- What, for those in the know in the Handmaiden Society, is the numerical-keypad keystroke sequence for turning out an "é"? I thought it was something like Alt-1-3-5, but that gives you "ç," instead. Good, I suppose, if you're writing a piece on the etymology of "soupçon" or something, but it doesn't really work out too terribly well if you're spelling out one of the handmaiden's names, there... Thanks muchlies.)

(BTW #3 -- Hey, Oakessteve, I could maybe arrange for a supernova for ya, if you'd like, instead of a sun. A bit more messy, but I think I've finally mastered the art of pulling the helium/hydrogen inner chambering out of a stellar body; but it all depends if you might prefer Types Ib & Ic over, say a Type II. Let me know. Or, I dunno, there might also be the option of that binary sunset icon...no, not the user, Binary_Sunset, I'm talking about the icon...)

If Amidala is a Senator and no longer Queen, why does she still have HMs? Is it like Secret Service guarding former Presidents? Don't get me wrong; strong, smart women who keep their clothes ON while they kick butt are to be encouraged in movies, it just seems odd...

just because amidala is no longer queen doesn't mean she shouldn't have at least one handmaiden. afterall, she is still a very important figure who is in a great deal of danger (as the assassination attempts indicate). and she still plays a large roll in the government of naboo...and now of the rest of the galaxy as a senator. so it makes sense that she'd have at least one handmaiden.

 

GentleBant, sorry to hear you were in pain. At least you got yourself to the gym, which is more than I can say for me. (Not that I didn't have a fun week.) Hope you got up okay this morning. I'll email you about next month!

Bria, good luck on getting your job back. I'll send positive thoughts your way. I really hope you'll be able to make it to the Celebration. Have you seen the growing lists of guests?

kreleia, here's what I did to make my own handmaiden dolls. I bought five Hidden Majesty dolls from Kaybee Toys. Only $4.99 each. I took the dress and hood of them. I turned the hood inside out and used a seam ripper to carefully take out the "face". I then bought some inexpensive Barbie dolls and dressed them in the gown and hood. Barbie is a little bustier, but it worked out great. I was apple to get a blond for Eirtaé and a darker toned one for Rabé. They're guarding my "Amidala" Escape from Naboo doll.

Leto II, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. The best of luck to you. I use ALT 0233 to get the é. Hope that helps.

A few comments. I don't mind the character of Mara Jade, but I think they chose poorly for her real life representative. Also, I agree with everyone's comments regarding the new handmaidens.

Anyway, Saw the "Clone Wars" trailer up on the big screen. [face_shocked] [face_shocked] [face_shocked] COOOOOOOLLLL!!!!!!!

You know that feeling you get in your stomach that feels like somethings exploding in a good way and you have so much energy you want to scream with delight?? Yeah, that was me!!

And then I saw the Two Towers preview!!! That was awesome in itself!! Gandalf the White and Eowyn of Rohan!! Legolas and Aragon!! SOOOOOOOOO coool!!!!

Leto II Congratulations!!! That's awesome!!! Yes, I would wait until post-AOTC to see..well...you know what I'm talking about. (Just like I promised, no spoliers!! )

As for keypad to make the é, hold down 'ALT' while you type '130' on the side numbers. That should do the trick!!

As for the HM comments aforementioned, I agree, but I also think that HM's are a Naboo thing. Except for guys....would the have Handlords or somthing??? !!

Ah, it is finally spring here in Michigan, which means: NO MORE SNOW!!!!!!! I can finally open my bedroom window and keep it partially open all night long w/out freezing to death!!! Flowers are coming back!! The grass is visible!! Buds on treess!! Biking!! Roller blading!! SPRING!!! And most importantly of all....AOTC!!!!!
