Extremely cool , but my dear friend The Emperor looks a bit strange ...

His nose seems a bit off.... otherwise, that's probably my favourite of those artworks

A pity that they aren't using Drew Struzan's posters as covers like they did with the recent DVD re-releases...

I also don't like the lack of episode numbers.

These covers just get lazier and lazier. And I'm a fan of steelbooks. However, a lack of the unaltered films as well as the mediocre cover art makes these a pass for me.

I find these steelbooks gorgeous. But I've bought very recently the Blu-Ray box from the 2011 edition, so I'm gonna pass. I'm not a big spender on Star Wars content.

To be honest, I prefer the art from the posters when the movies were released on theaters:

I'm actually in favor of them skipping the episode numbers on the covers. It seems refreshing to me that they focus on the titles now, thereby shifting our focus to the individual qualities of the films as films instead of lumping them together as a series of numbers.
I do see it as one saga, but I also like to see each episode as a full-fledged work of art in its own right.
    But, to each their own!

Regarding the cover art, I'd love it if they'd hire an artist to create completely new "movie posters" in the classic mode. Maybe do what Struzan did for the SE and make it one long, Saga-encompassing painting that can easily be divided into six sections!

I don't like either set of cover arts. Nor am I buying these.

Those aren't the theatrical posters for the original trilogy these are...

I'm going to pick them up, I haven't gotten the Blu-Ray yet, and I'm fond of steelbooks, so yeah, I might not like the NOOO in ROTJ, but I want to rewatch the Prequels on Blu-Ray and I heard the cases for the re-release were bad. Bye bye birthday money, I know where you're going!

No thanks; holding out for collection that includes theatrical release cuts (or at least first SE); cans are nice though!

Some odd choices for who's on which cover. Grevious and Stormtrooper don't seem cover-worthy to me, and ANH isn't Vader's movie.

Yeah I thought Vader would go on the ESB cover. Perhaps the stormtrooper could go on the ANH cover.

Since DVDs and before, it seems there's always been needless re-imaginings of cover artwork, when 99% of the time, the theatrical poster is the best option, and iconic with its depiction of the film. Of course, the trilogy above uses the special edition artworks, which I'm fine with because the prequels followed the same visual cues, and they look really nice lined up next to each other. Of course, that doesn't mean I'd mind a release with the original artwork...

    Perfection.

Now onto the new artwork; I wouldn't pay that much mind to it because it's a limited edition thing, though it is a cool idea to simplify each episode to just one iconic character from the saga. Reminds me of the 1995 trilogy release, which focused on faces as well.

The only thing that's a bit strange is Grievous and the Stormtrooper. The series has a lot more famous characters to better represent each episode. It's a little bit weird how Yoda, Maul, Palpatine, and Grievous are all realistic and detailed, while Vader and the Stormtrooper seem stylized.

I actually had the idea of just using one character for each episode a while ago, in conjunction with each episode title; Phantom Menace would be Maul/Sidious, Attack of the Clones would be the Clone Trooper, Revenge of the Sith would be Palpatine, A New Hope would be Obi-Wan/Luke, Empire Strikes Back would be Vader, and Return of the Jedi would be Luke/Leia.

This is nothing but a shameless cash grab. I guess Fox needs money to cover the Fantastic Four flop. No OOT, no buy. I haven't watched the Prequels in at least 5 years and the SEs since 2008. Ugly covers too, but way better than the crappy photoshop covers of the DVDs or the 2011 releases.

I'll wait until they do a worthwhile release.

Not feeling the characters they selected for the tins. Episode I should be Qui-Gon (but Darth Maul makes a lot of sense), Episode II should be Padme or Dooku, Episode III should be Obi-Wan, Episode IV should be Luke, Episode V should be Vader, and Episode VI is perfect as is with Palpatine.

Grievous is iconic enough and exclusive to RotS, so I can understand why they chose him for the cover. Still, not the best choices overall in my opinion.

Well, actually, I agree with you. We haven't really seen these films done justice, yet.

As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to the covers, paintings are the way to go. I have limited taste for all these anodyne alternatives they keep coming up with.

    And why is palpatine blue!?

Is it a weird link to his ESB hologram debut?

Boba Fett on ESB and Jabba on ROTJ would be much more iconic.

Why so? Neither Boba or Jabba seemed all that pivotal to any movie. You don't have to explain, just curious.

I certainly agree that a stormtrooper, of all things, looks out of place on the TESB cover.

The head shots, as they go, are alright, though, in my opinion. But a more painterly approach would still be my preference for a future (re-)release.

As is, I think Maul is fine for the TPM cover
I'd have preferred Jango or Dooku for AOTC
    Grievous works for ROTS
    Vader's fine on ANH
A random stormtrooper for TESB? I'd replace him with Boba
    Palpatine is perfect for ROTJ
