For anyone who's a fan of David Feintuch's awesome series about Nicholas Ewing Seafort, there's good news. It was recently announced on the message boards on his official site that an 8th book (tentativly titled Galahad's Hope) is in the works. Hurrah!

Whoa, sad news. I went to his website to check on any updates for the book, only to discover that David Feintuch died on March 16 :( Early word has it that the final book will still be published.

They were basically Horatio Hornblower in space. His original idea was to write a Horatio-type book, but when he realized he knew nothing about Napoleon-era ships or navy he just put the whole story in space where he could make up everything.

    The Seafort Saga is:

    Midshipman's Hope (November 1994)
    Challenger's Hope (May 1995)
    Prisoner's Hope (October 1995)
    Fisherman's Hope (March 1996)
    Voices of Hope (October 1996)
    Patriarch's Hope (May 1999, PB April 2000)
Children of Hope (April 2001, PB September 2001)
    Galahad's Hope (unpublished)

He also wrote two fantasy novels:

    The Still (June 1998)
    The King (March 2003)
