You think we will see a new SSD? That could be great. Hopefully it looks more like Vader's Executor than Snoke's Supremacy...
The rumour mongers say that Pryde's ship is a SSD but I'm not certain as I'm not an expert on them. It's the ship that the Orbak charge is on and the only F.O. ship above Exogol as far as I can see.
It does vaguely look like a new ship, but it's hard to tell with a huge chunk of the ship obscured by the superstructure.
That little shot in the new footage shows the 'Resistance' pocket fleet at the start of their mission. We can see the Tantive IV and the large troopship with the A, B, X and Y-wings. There's no enemy fighter presence meeting them just fire from the surface guns of the lead Sith ISDs. I get the impression that the main (Lando's) fleet's only purpose will be to destroy the sitting duck Sith ISDs.
This is probably old news, but I was watching this clip of the speeder chase on slow-mo, and I noticed that the trooper's bike's seem to have shields! It looks like it kind of angles into a spearhead in front of the bike. I could be mistaken, but I think this is the first time we've seen shielding on a person/vehicle that small since the PT? Idk, seems cool to me.
@Glitterstimm Nice analysis. It's one of those weird things though that you only really notice in slow motion / frame-by-frame. The cinema audience won't have that luxury so will be scratching their heads as to why none of the gang are getting a shot on target. Saying that it seems very deliberate so there's probably a line of dialogue from our heroes stating - "They've got shields now!"
That's very cool, I didn't even notice the shielding in the footage in motion. Another nice PT callback.
The Porsche x Star Wars Collaboration has revealed its spaceship! The last shots of this video shows shots from Pasaana, will it be part of The Rise Of Skywalker?
Nope it's not going to be in TROS but it looks rad as hell. https://www.yahoo.com/news/porsche-lucasfilm-co-designed-starfighter-114653923.html
Doug Chiang has been posting other concepts not used...and it's a shame. I would have loved either of these instead of X-wings in the ST. They have their own style, not quite like the OT or PT.
It's a cool looking ship but seems to borrow from designs elsewhere in the non-movie canon (Resistance and The Mandalorian). that aside it doesn't really shout "Star Wars" to me.
The ships of The Rise of Skywalker Resistance Navy CR90 Corvette Dornean Gunship, last seen in ROTJ EF76 Nebulon B Escort Frigate Free Virgillia-class Gunship Sphyrna-class Gunship, last seen in Rogue One Pelta-class Frigate, last seen in TCW Vakbeor-class cargo Frigate Some old favourites, some straight off the scrap pile. The Resistance are scraping the bottom of the barrel, literally.
Oh yeah, sure, give them a pat on the back again for having zero creativity whatsoever. Did we get ANY new Resistance/NR vehicles or were we denied even THAT in this movie? Oh hell yes, this vehicle would've boosted my feelings regarding the ST by quite a bit. Alas.... Yep, God forbid we stray from TIEs, X-Wings and Star Destroyers again. NOW look where we are. Y'know who thought the same? People who watched the PT! Some things grow on you.
I need some better shots of the Knights of Ren ship. Overall, Kylo Ren's ship from TLJ (TIE Silencer) was probably my favorite ship of this trilogy, but not a lot of variety. Mostly just plays on the OT (X-Wings, TIE Fighters, etc). We were definitely spoiled by the PT when it comes to vehicles.
