I am proud to say that I am an equal opportunity Star Wars fan, and I will see any film that comes out and will read most any book.

I couldn't comment on Chee. He wasn't the most helpful with the Clone Wars retcon so we've had to do a lot on our own.

    Shrug.

I think the only way we as fans can express our outrage is by voting with our money, doing the exact opposite of that, Nehru.

LOL, you couldn't be more wrong....and those of us who have seen Rogue One are chuckling heartily right now. "Love and Friendship and Rainbows" is so far out in left field when talking about Rogue One that it's hard to not laugh openly, it's silly to keep going on with that kind of thinking when you haven't actually watched the film.....if you had you'd see how ridiculous those comments are.

Yeah, all that love and friendship was really effective at stopping the capital of the Galaxy from being blown to dust, and Han Solo from being murdered by his own son in front of his lifelong best friend's face.

    What.

Also: Tarkin was not Rommel. What are you even talking about? Rommel died because he wasn't loyal to Hitler, and never once did he commit a war crime.

Not R1. I'm talking about Rebels. I'm talking about the blatant kid friendly marketing Disney has done. They took the normal stuff for kids and cranked it up by a factor of 10.

If they wanted to appeal to adults, they should have made a live action show with adult themes (honestly, I'm not saying I expect nudity and blatant drug use, etc...but just what do you think is going on in those places like Hutt courts and the Undercity of Coruscant? I say give it the Game of Thrones treatment) and started marketing products for adults, like beer mugs and shot glasses and bomber jackets with the Corellian Engineering Corporation logo in it with Clone Wars patches...anything but the current situation.

Again, none of what you're saying is grounded in fact. Star Wars, by and large, has always been kid-friendly. Aside from Empire and ROTS most of it was already what you're describing so dismissively. Do you not remember TCW, or Ewoks, or the prequels?

You're acting like Rebels is the only thing Disney has done. It's not even the *main* thing they've done.

You must not be old enough to remember the marketing behind RotJ, TPM, & TCW. Maybe you didn't pay attention to the animated features being run before Disney acquired SW. Disney isn't doing anything radically different now then before they bought out Lucas.....in fact it seems to me like they are addressing some of your biggest complaints. ;)

Also I think Rebels is far better than you are giving it credit for.

Some fans just like to gripe I guess though, to each their own.

EDIT: LOL, basically what Wanderguard just said. :p

Point taken, but I seem to recall ROTJ being rather racy in Jabba's court. Twi'leks don't have a reputation for being nuns, and Death Sticks aren't just some new fad all the cool kids are doing. Yes, the original was kid friendly, but there were subtle adult themes there and the blend was perfect for what it was. Honestly, I think a live action show set in the Undercity of Coruscant about something like the Black Sun or about a bounty hunter with a noir twist would be far more interesting than yet another kid friendly, sparkly shiny spinoff. Hence my comment about give it the Game of Thrones treatment. And how many kids freaked out when they saw The Empire Strikes Back? "Evil won! Oh, no!" It was shocking to see a movie in which good did not triumph, but it was real, for lack of a better term.

And Nehru_Amidala, I wouldn't want you to be any other way. If you like it, that's great! I applaud you. I just feel cheated out of the stories that could have been, that should have been. And most of the books coming out that I favor--books with technical schemata by DK--seem to be rather overpriced, which just feeds into my idea that it's all just a cheap marketing gimmick.

Basically, I feel like I've been watching a movie, getting engrossed and completely into it, and then the phone rang, jarring me right out of the movie. There's a name for this, but it escapes me...and no, it's not cynicism. :p

    It's cynicism, but that's ok.

I just think you're taking one example and using it to disregard all of Disney's stories, which is a shame.

I'm still offended that you compared Tarkin to Rommel :p

Not posting this to hate on the cartoon, because I really love it. Video is funny though

To be fair, Rommel didn't have a Death Star at his command...

I'm not disregarding it, it's just taking me longer to warm to it. I don't feel the same immersion I did with the EU. I can't explain it better than that, but...it's like the magic of it faded. I don't want to see Star Wars sink into the sterility of Star Trek (no offense to the Trekkie fans...lol) where it becomes formulaic. Picard finds trouble. Picard kicks its butt. Picard returns to his journey. Over and over. It was very sterile feeling whereas Star Wars was very organic. The ships were run down, the bounty hunters swore like sailors and smoked and Han Solo shot first, dammit! :p

And yes, I know they've always marketed to children, but there's a huge adult market waiting. Honestly, who wouldn't want to pay $150 for a cowhide leather bomber jacket with Blue Squadron's logo on the back (in the style of WWII bomber jackets) complete with flight patches? I would.

    Good morning, everyone.

Sinrebirth I have received my assignment, master, and I will get to it quickly. Also, regarding the One Canon, here should be the official slogan, if it pleases you: One Canon to rule them all, One Canon to find them, One Canon to bring them all and for enlightenment, bind them. :)

    *grins*

When we get LotR sequels/sidequels and Star Wars blows them out of the water too it will be fairly fun.

I mean, we already have Saruman, I mean Count Dooku in the prequels, and Gollum, I mean Supreme Leader Snoke in TFA. That's why he wants Luke found, because he suspects he has his precious. :D

twowolves All I can say without being a jerk and spoiling anything is that R1 is most definitely for the adult market, seriously give it a try, based on what you are saying you are going to be pleasantly surprised. :)

I had a rocky relationship with Disney... until last night. twowolves trust me, Rogue One will pleasantly surprise you on a lot of the complaints you listed above. It's given me hope going forward now.

I don't get into debates on here with hardcore EU fans that are against what Disney is doing now with Star Wars -

    1. Because I haven't actually read a hole lot of the legends EU, just bits here and there that peak my interest so I'm not really qualified (something I used to be quite insecure about but now I don't care, my fandom is strong! :p)
and 2. Because I think it's a pointless debate, Disney owns the rights now and nothing will change that.

It stuck in my throat for a long time, the stories that could have been had Lucas never sold the franchise but my mindset has changed drastically. I also really like Rebels!

You have to see Rogue One. The word brutal comes to mind. ;)

The one thing that this discussion prove: the aphorism that "Opinions are like... ummm... belly buttons. Everyone has one."

Well, except for that one person who was raised as a test tube baby. But she has the other physical aspect that's usually in there. Ugh. PC stuff.

    Incoming!... oh, it's a task! :D

Apprentice, suppose the Sith Temple on Moraband was destroyed beyond restoration and a decision was made to move operations to a different location, which planet/system do you think would be most suitable and why?

    I like that task.

PCCViking, A Blind Prophet, you may also respond to that task. Suppose we lose Moraband, where should we set up? You get an extra prestige point if you suggest somewhere that is not within the Esstran Sector or Stygian Caldera.
