Finished reading Bloodline this morning, and since I actually have some time that's completely free (for the first time in a long time!) I am finally going to sit down and take some time to read the Star Wars Propaganda book. So excited.

I've heard good things about Claudia Gray. I'm trying to decide on a canon novel to read next. Last one I finished was Tarkin.

 

If you enjoyed Tarkin (and plan on seeing/have seen Rogue One), I'd recommend picking up Catalyst, which is also by James Luceno. But I would also recommend reading Bloodline-- Gray did an excellent job with Leia, in my opinion. It was a really entertaining book!

Edit, on a related note: What book would you recommend for a Star Wars book first-timer to read first? I mentioned my best friend expressed some interest in starting with the EU and the new EU books, but I'm a little stumped on where to start her. I recommended Kenobi (she's a big Obi-Wan fan), but I also want to push her a little more towards books like the Thrawn trilogy and the "core" expanded universe stories, if you will. Thoughts?

It absolutely is, in my opinion. I know that reading Catalyst before R1 cleared up 80% of Krennic's character in the film for me, as well as the specifics of Galen Erso's involvement, because the film paints him to be like... the sole creator of the Death Star, when it's a little different than that. Also makes kyber crystals seem a bit more important, and it set up the political climate quite well.

 

Ugly? It's.... beautiful!

so upset about Casterfo's fate at the end of the book. He was actually one of my favorite characters in the book. But if anything, it really drove home the point of the book: stuff falls apart, usually painfully and exactly the way you'd hoped it wouldn't.
