What do you think of these two series?

Just some thoughts off the top of my head...Stark Hyperspace War - #2 - very cool cover. Story is interesting; usage of the Trade Federation plotline OK; inevitable I guess, given the timeline. And I appreciate any story that has Quinlan Vos in it....

Star Wars Starfighter -- fascinating aliens! Nym is a great character. And so good to see usage of humor, which is sorely lacking in the GFFA lately. Involves the Trade Federation again, which is getting to be old hat, but I'll accept it as long as the story's good. This one promises to be.

I like the artwork in both. The script means more to me than the artwork, so I don't usually have much of an opinion in that regard, except when I don't like it at all... :)

    Your thoughts/opinions, please.

So, I guess I'm surprised...no one has read either of these comics yet???? Or do you hate them so much you don't want to comment? :) :)

Um, well I'm glad you liked it! (Hyperspace War)

Jan Duursema and I created the cover...we'll be doing some more covers together on an upcoming 4 issue story arc.

Upcoming four-issue arc? Woo-hoo! I assume after Devaronian Version...

I'm enjoying the first two issues of Stark, but to tell the truth my Crossbones isn't shipping until next week, nor my Stark #3...

Yeah! A four issue arc coming up after SHW and the 2 issue Devaronian Way. You'll see more of Quinlan Vos and Aayla Secura--two of my favorite Jedi...It starts with issue 42 of the Ongoing.

I agree, the cover is exceptional. A Wookiee Jedi is always something to be admired, and your highlighting of Tyvokka -- "starring" just him, as it were, focusing on an important plot point -- is an eye-catcher.

Dave, you're welcome! I look forward to your work on the other storyline.

What I really liked about this cover is how "simple" it was -- just focusing on one character, one point in the plot, one moment in the story. And it honors Master Tyvokka as well. Great job.

    *points at Jan*
Well then, I'll pass the praise over to Jan...I merely painted up her great pencil drawing. (But thanks!)

Indeed, that cover rules! I love the rich coloring and while a minor detail I really appreciate the unique lightsaber hilt given to Tyvokka.

Anyway, I'm enjoying both arcs as of now. I find The Stark Hyperspace War to be a little too far-fetched in how Stark is so in control of the situation but the arc is enjoyable nonetheless. I can't say that I love the art though. To be completely honest the colors are great but there's something off with the illustrations themselves. I think it might just be that the human faces look a bit weird; I'm not quite sure. I'm also not too fond of the large outlines. Complaints aside I still like the art overall and even saying that I dislike it would be going too far. I think I might just prefer some more detail (I'm not satisfied with my explanation but I hope someone understands what I'm trying to say; I'm rather illiterate when it comes to art).

Crossbones #1 was fun but I hope there's enough room left in the following 2 issues for a complete story since it really hasn't begun yet.

All in all I'm really enjoying everything Dark Horse is putting out.

Hmmm, Bogga, I think I understand what you're saying...maybe :). I went back and looked, and what I'll call the style of the art appears to me to be very angular, with very sharp corners; each face is drawn that way, so that they seem almost interchangeable. Still, unique characters, but I believe I see your point. If I'm totally wrong please don't hesitate to say...LOL.

Hadn't thought about the outlines until you mentioned it, so I guess it didn't bother me.

The coloring -- the scope of the coloring is limited to what I'll call "harsh colors" - lots of yellow and red, and dark variations of those. It fits in with the storyline, certainly.

Dave, just a question, if you're still with us -- since Jan Duursema's name is listed first in the Cover Art credits, do I then assume that whatever person is listed first is always the person who drew the art? Is that the way DH does it?

As to Starfighter -- it would appear that this story is going to be short and sweet, and a lot is going to happen in #2. It will be interesting to read. And as I said, it's nice to come across the use of humor in a SW story. That's pretty rare lately.
