Note: In this case, I use "Nightsister" interchangeably with any force user from Dathomir. I know the Nightsisters are just a clan from that planet, but hey.

It's been awhile since I've read the Courtship of Princess Leia, but I remember thinking that the Nightsisters, while a powerful bunch of Force users, would never be able to match a really powerful Jedi or Sith. I'm not sure if my opinion on that has changed, but we have seen some powerful witches.

From the Clone Wars tv show, we know that Ventress is from Dathomir. Ventress is usually beaten either by Obi-Wan or Anakin, though she actually does slap Obi-Wan around quite a bit in the Obsession comic (though I don't believe he was necessarily fighting back). Still, she kills many Jedi, some with ease, and could most likely rival all but the most powerful Sith Lords.

Probably the other "contender" I can think of would be Gethzerion, the leader of the tribe in Courtship. While we're never shown how much, exactly, we know that she's very powerful. She crushes Luke very easily, and apparently Palpatine wanted to keep her on the planet. Also, there's that Nightsister from the Maul comic, who is able to fight him briefly, although she's decapitated fairly quickly.

Back to what I was saying earlier, I originally assumed that the Nightsisters would always be limited in what they could accomplish using the Force, as they had to rely on "spells" (although this seems to have been dropped), and just use what I saw as a limited version of the dark side. Ventress is an oddity, since she was trained by a Sith. Do you think she is the most powerful thing to come from Dathomir? Does Gethzerion just look insanely powerful because Luke isn't fully trained at the time he fights her? Do these DBZ style "who is the strongest" threads even matter?

To keep this from being a purely "power based" thread, does anyone know why Palpatine didn't just bomb the planet? Seems like something he would do, if there were that many force users threatening him.

Well nightsister, usually refer only to darksiders, not a specific clan.

I Figure Geztherion was the most powerful because, she created storms because she was pissed.

Why didn't Palpatine bomb the planet, Because he probably did believe in that rule of two bull @#$%!.

Palps post maul is pretty lazy, He rather steal talent than foster it, and if the Dathmoir preduces a talanted forceuser that he could eventually swipe...cool.

Also, the Dathmori weren't going anywhere. They didn't have a industrial infastrcure, they not going to be building orbital rockets let alone starships. and he was incharge of a massive empire, he isn't threated by some rare dathmori escapees.

Talzin or Gethzerion; Ventress is puny in comparison.

Well, I thought about mentioning Talzin, but I'm a bit skeptical; just so I'm not confused, she was the Nightsister from the Savage episodes in TCW, correct? If so, we've definitely seen her do some interesting abilities, but I'm not sure that would necessarily translate to fighting ability. Then again, I suppose "power" doesn't have to be mean fighting power. Talzin definitely seems to get into the more "magical" side of the Force.

Gethzerion. COPL puts her roughly on par with Palpatine.

Talzin couldn't take Dooku, and Dooku was definately < Palpatine.

Obviously, Mother Talzin is the cream of the power-crop on Dathomir.
She commands Dooku's respect without asking for it and both Ventress and Savage are subordinate to her as she strings the Count along. Speaking of the former, she is clearly the number two on my list with no explanation required.

    My third choice is Mighella.
Strong enough to toss some force lightning around, then go metal to lightsaber with a Sith Lord. Even if it was only for cup of tea. Her spot within Black Sun also says something about her level of badassery.

I'm not sure COPL puts her on par with Palpatine, but rather says that Palpatine was scared of her. Palpatine could just be a bit of a wussy, despite being so powerful. He doesn't like anyone with semblance of power opposing him.

Gethzerion. I mean, she's ancient! Beyond human life expectancy! That's gotta be worth something.

To me, that actually does bring to mind the question of what she was doing when Talzin was leader, or chief, or whatever her role was. Even though planets are never treated as big as they really are in SW, I suppose she could just be in a position of power on another part of the planet. I wonder if she killed Talzin? [face_thinking]

I'm pretty sure Ventress was young, though, not much older than Anakin. I wouldn't be surprised if she had it in her to become the strongest Nightsister.

    Axkva Min.

So powerful Gethzerion couldn't kill her, only imprison her. And an Eternal Force Ghost was put in place to make sure she stayed imprisoned.

    Galaxies FTW for once?

According to Wookieepedia (and I must've missed this while reading COPL last month), Gethzerion is the daughter of Augwynne Djo in COPL. I think Augwynne Djo is only in her 70s or something in COPL.

Gethzerion appears much older than she is because the Dark Side has corrupted her so much.

Now, you want to talk about REALLY old... Rell from COPL is something like 300+ years old.

I also forgot about Sai Sircu, who manhandled Dooku and Ventress simultaneously in Jedi Alliance.

Rell is more like four centuries old- IIRC, she remembers Yoda from his part in the mission to Dathomir.

Really? That seems a bit ridiculous. I'm very for counting video games as canon, but that.... Might be a little less stupid sounding if I played it.

True. She'll probably die in TCW though [face_plain]

I don't know about the novels, but didn't Silri from Forces of Corruption end up with an army of carbonite-frozen Sith soldiers?
