As you are now aware, Backyard Productions is making a sequel to TESBY.

Star Wars Episode III - The Emperor's New Clones

Rather than start new threads when new things happen, we'll post updates here as and when they arrive.

    So here's the latest news!!

SCRIPT: The first draft is now complete. Revisions will be made up to the minute filming begins.

CAST: All the main characters will be returning. The only cast change is Padmé

SET-BUILDING: We don't like full CG backgrounds (cos we can't do them!!), so as we did for TESBY, we are building full size sets for the film. The scale of this is huge!! Photos from our first set-building weekend can be found here
The dual layered set is the Death Star Throne Room. We are also building at least 4 other full scale sets. I don't know what info we are allowed to give away at this stage, so I'll let darren venture in with more details.

MOCKUMENTARY: For all you George Lucas fans - Yes, we will be making another mockumentary. Any suggestions and ideas are gratefully received

FILMING: Principal Photography is scheduled for 13th-28th August. Some shots will be filmed after these dates (hologram shots, and a few pick-ups)

So far, everything is going to schedule. We are aiming to make this film appealable to a larger audience. We want to get a lot more jokes in it - both SW-related and general humour. We have approached 501st garrison to see if they are interested in being involved. Unfortunately we have yet to receive a reply, but we hope it will be a favourable one. There's one scene in particular I'm sure they would LOVE to be involved in.

Any further updates will be posted here :)

Everything is going great. We have a super set building team and casting is almost three. The costumes are also looking first rate!

    HOWEVER...

Still desparate for any UK-based make up artists, especially those who fancy re-creating our Yoda and Mundi from the last movie!

Also those guys at 501st, MAN they are busy, not one email reply. Anyone with any uk Garrison contacts would be really appreciated!

We are set building this weekend, look at Halibut's post for a link to how things are going so far.

Finally - a long shot, but my son REALLY wants a Threepio in our sequel...any ideas

I sound a bit like a noobie! Have I really been doin this for 12 years? - Get with the prgram DAZ!!!!!

Hmm...you could have droid scenes using stop-motion with action figures in front of scale backdrops, and never show the droids and anyone else in the same shot...that might be the easiest, best-looking solution...

And I'll be glad to lend my Threepio voice impression if you need it. :D

EDIT: I see you have a life-size Artoo model...so if you use my little random suggestion, you can use the life-size Artoo with the people, and the small Artoo with the small Threepio, and that will link the scale model scenes and the life-size scenes together...yeah, I'm just babbling now. Okay.

TESB was one of my favorite fanfilms when I started viewing them on TFN. :D

It looks like you guys are going to make this one bigger and better than the last. Some of the visuals could have been done better in the last one, but the story line was engaging and humorous, and that's what counts. I really think this is going to be great! Can't wait to see the progress of the film!

With regards to the 501st,your best bet would be to post in the UKG forum.A few of the UKG can also be found on the Replica Prop Board.
They are busy at the moment, and have been all year from what i can tell. i'm still waiting for clearance for my stormtrooper costume.
    Hope that helps

Will there be another song and dance number? I was deeply amused by the one in TESBY...

The effects will be better this time. I doubt they'll be on the same level as BA and Revelations, but they'll do their job well :p

Another Song and Dance number? Who can say?

I understand that 501 have been busy this year, and I'm sure they get countless requests for appearances, but if we can get them to at least look at the serious effort going on for this film, it might persuade them to get involved!

It's probably been done before, but if you can only get a couple, and you have an inspection scene, have them run around the back of the line to the end so that it looks like there are more to the Emperor :p

    Heh heh!

We did something like that in our Batman movie back in 1995 - very funny!

We do have an alternative option if we don't get Stormtroopers, but it would not be nearly as good!

    Cheers.

I visited the set today and was blown away by the amount of work these guys have done. A full throne room layout, with dual level walkways, the Tantive IV corridor, an X-Wing cockpit, the FALCON COCKPIT!!!!!, nad numerous other sets. These guys were great, they gave me a full guided tour and made me feel welcome the entire day. I can't wait to see what they come up with when this is complete :D
