"The Throne Room" is the joyous march that concludes Star Wars. Most people know of this and the reprise in the Revenge of the Sith credits. However, not only is it a standalone piece, but "The Throne Room" is a theme that makes its way into all three films, loosely representing the Rebel Alliance. Here are its appearances:

    Star Wars
Here's where it originated, of course. In addition to the Rebel Ceremony, the opening horn fanfare makes an appearance at the very end of the credits.

    The Empire Strikes Back
At the end of the credits, the opening horn fanfare again shows up, followed directly by the Rebel fanfare.

    Return of the Jedi
The main Throne Room theme makes an appearance at the end of the credits, but what's more interesting is its usage in "The Fleet Enters Hyperspace." The SE liner notes mention this: the string motif that underscores the fleet's preparation for lightspeed is actually the Throne Room theme in a minor key!

Something I hadn't noticed until recently.

OK, now read my post rather than going by the thread title.

    I did.

The main Throne Room theme makes an appearance at the end of the credits, but what's more interesting is its usage in "The Fleet Enters Hyperspace."

The Force theme... that is possibly the most used theme in the Star Wars repetoire... that theme is the main "throne room theme."

I think he's talking about the opening trumpet fanfare, not the Force theme.

If so, we should change the title of the thread.

But then explain the last part that I quoted that refers to the main Throne Room theme...

I am NOT talking about the Force theme! There are basically four things in "The Throne Room."

    - fanfare (opening and after the Force theme)
    - the Force theme
    - Throne Room theme (melody which occurs many times throughout concert version and in RotJ)
    - Luke's theme (B section)

You guys might want to give this piece a listen again.

Can you give the times for when this theme occurs?

I know what your talking about, Cerrabore. It's a completely different motif than the Force Theme and is a rather triumphant, bouncy march-like melody.

I understand what you're talking about. I know you're an attentive listener and music forum poster, so I didn't assume that you had somehow confused the Force Theme with something else. ;)

Anyways, I listened to all the cues you listed, and to my surprise, I think you're right. :p I never noticed that before! I don't think I could have ever picked out the theme in "Rebel Fleet/End Title" and "The Fleet Enters Hyperspace" on my own.

    Good catch!

The part that you call the "Throne Room Theme" sounds very Elgar "Pomp And Circumstance"-like.

The bit in "The Fleet Enters Hyperspace" is quite a variation. When I hear the part right beofre that, it makes me think of Jedi Outcast. :p

The fanfare in the ESB and ROTJ end titles I have noticed before.

I think Williams once referred to it as a "fairy-tale coronation" melody or something like that. This motif could find its way in a King's Quest movie, if they ever do one. :)
