ST The "TRAITOR!" Riot Trooper aka "TR-8R"

Even the TOS is sort of behind the TR-8R name so I kind of expect them to work it into some subsequent comic or novel bit.

As for TR-8R / FN-2199 / "Nines" throwing down vs Finn instead of shooting at him - that's totally the point. He took it personally and wanted to take him out one on one.

 

I know I might get some hate for this, but at this point, I don't think I would mind TR-8R / Nines making a reappearance some way some how.

Now this is the guy who has pretty much defined ALL memes related to "The Force Awakens"... He's the man!

 

Yea, they try and rob his thunder with releasing that Daniel Craig nonsense meanwhile this nobody Stormy had the real "swagger".

 

Although Daniel had a cool Stormtrooper ID as well - he's JB-007!

 

Only in the credits. Whereas this Riot Stormtrooper stands vigilant in our hearts and minds & he will live forever!

It probably was so unintentional. A scene made just to show that Finn was not a Jedi and being brave by standing up against evil doers, ended up showing the tenacity and zeal of a fully trained and disciplined First Order trooper. Truly an army of one, before they had Han unceremoniously blow him away with Chewbacco's hand cannon to get a cheap laugh from the audience.

 

I got a good retcon; FN-2199 aka "Nines" survived the blaster shot but had to go through painful rehab, and only his loyalty and sick spins makes him obsess on the "TRAITOR!". He scrawls TR-8R into his armour. He tattoos "TR-8R" on his knuckles. Eventually, General Hux is impressed by his dedication and re-designates him "TR-8R"

 

Something for Rian Johnson and his scriptwriters to consider eh... Since this fellow has grown to become so popular that he can actually return from the dead, assuming that blaster shot killed him!

 

I still don't like the nickname TR-8R as it's a complete misnomer that puts his OWN loyalty into question.

 

A cheap laugh, you say... ha! No, it was the Rosetta Stone that allows us (by which I mean me!) to decode the secret formula that determines victory in the GFFA!

Why did the clones wipe out the Jedi so easily? "Oh, well, it was the dark side, surprise attack, chips in their brains—" No! They. Had. Loyalty.

That's why Jango loses to Mace! That's why Boba loses so easily! Bounty hunters — no loyalty!

TR-8R threw down his main weapons because he knew the secret! He knew he could win without them! And he would have — if Han hadn't had the third part of the rock-paper-scissors system handy.

I'd take it further and say that he had his arm amputated and replaced by a bigger version of the weapon he had - making him more mechanoid than human, allowing for his new moniker which is more droid like.

In Ep8, we see more of the "Knights of Ren" to look for Rey/Luke, then Hux/Phasma bring out The First Order's own one man bounty hunter - TR-8R, to track down their rogue trooper/traitor Finn.

 

Yes! Script writers take note! This needs to happen!

Obi-wan used a blaster in AOTC despite his dislike for them...and much to the dismay of the audience, I might add.

But yes, Luke's loyalty to his father (after throwing the lightsaber away) was the key to redeeming Anakin.
