Saw the trailer today. Looks like more Michael Bay CGI crap. Definately waiting for the DVD... Or never. Shame on Speilberg for allowing Bay to even touch this project. It's almost as bad as his bending over to let Lucas dictate the horrific IJ4
That's harsh. I got the same vibe from the ROTF trailer that I got from Transformers, "this movie looks like its going to be so much fun."
Just looking at the end of the trailer lets me know how much its going to be worth it to see this in IMAX.
Maybe, but at least Rodimus and co. were something other than background filler material. OK. We get it. You don't like the movies. You can stop complaining anytime you want. Preferably right now.
Well, maybe now that they have the character designs, some of those characters will become more than just background filler in future episodes? (in fact, I think Warpath has already shown up a few times).
Warpath was in "Five Servos of Doom", yeah. As for whether or not they'll show up again...well, there's five episodes left, I think. And depending on what time it is, what day it is, and who you talk to, this season may/may not/probably is/kinda might not be the last season, so who knows if they will. We know that Beachcomber, who was among the crowd in "Decepticon Air", had a speaking role, but that got cut, which tells you a lot right there.
I have to say the trailer looks much better than the last movie. I hope we get ore Megatron in this film. I really liked the way he started, the sound he makes there was a great way of showing that he could be really scary, but soon his intimidation factor fell significantly after he doesn't show much more personality than a simple brute.
Having seen clips from the lastest Animated Ep, I would like to once again state how much I dislike the "homage" syndrome that seems to be afflicting it of late.
Just saw the big preview at the Trek movie. All I could think of was the South Park episode "Imagination Land" when they call in the different movie directors to use there creativity to formulate a plan, and Michael Bay can only think of is cool CGI stuff. The general is all "Thats not an idea". That is so relevant when it comes to this new transformers movie.
Because they aren't that important or a big deal. The real problem with the show is that they went to introduce so many subplots and did nothing with them. Blackarachnia was awesome in Rise of the Predacons, but she was in like 4, 5 episodes tops or something?
If they're not important or a big deal, why do them at all? Of course, the habit of name dropping characters and the reason why becomes all too clear when you consider one thing: it's the franchise's 25th anniversary. Taking that into account, why they're doing it becomes painfully obvious. I dunno, I think some plot stuff came off well.
"...under my true colors." Glad to finally have a Shockwave-centric episode (as far as featured villain goes at least). Very awesome. I assume you're referring to Rat Trap? I think he was the perfect candidate for that role. I did find it weird that they had a bot who looked like Metroplex, though no bigger than Bulkhead- likely because the actual Metroplex in this series is (presumably) just a facility, as is Fortress Maximus. Funny that they made the Metrobot a wuss.
I'm actually referring to stuff like this, where we get Steeljaw and Huffer, along with Fortress Maximus, a reference to Maccadam's Oil House (Marvel Comic) and Flareup (Fun Publications Timeline's character). That's actually Grandus, once again dipping into the "too-obscure-to-be-anything-other-than-deliberate-homage" territory.
Wow, those are amazingly obscure. In that case, I think it's even better than I thought- bringing these things into the animated realm (as then their more likely to find further use in future animated TF shows, if not this series). And, again, super-harmless if you are unaware of their origins- you'd never know the difference between them and an original creation.
Spoiler Alert ROTF junior novelization Its obviously based on an earlier draft as a couple of scenes are different that what we've seen in the trailers, but it sounds pretty good and a lot more transformer scenes that the first.

Oof...don't like that version. The rap part in particular. The shame of it is that parts of the song actually work, but it loses the heroic anthem feel of the original. Then again, even the new version he recorded for the last movie lacked the emotional impact of the original. "Till All Are One" is still fantastic, though.
Just watched "Endgame, part 1"- very cool to see the series coming full circle in several ways- not the least of which is the new Guardian clones, given that among the first images we saw in this show was the G1 flashback footage of them. Cooler still, that these "Lugnut Supremes" (for lack of a better term) look a lot like a particular bot design from the Rifts RPG (the Triax X-2000 Dyna-Max) that I particularly liked the design of when I caught a glimpse of it in a book back in high school.
