I don't mind occasional humor, but a wiki site is meant to be an in-depth resource for that subject, and if the text is openly deriding the topic you're looking up, it makes it less enjoyable to read, as well as calls into question the accuracy of the info. It also skews perceptions of material. Up until your posts here and reading that link, I had heard nothing but good things from people at my LCS about AHM (and the one guy working there whose a big TF fan was surprised to hear of the negative reaction- though he, too, hasn't been followed the regular IDW continuity either). But if I had read that entry first, I'd get the impression it was outright terrible, and may never have started reading it, and would have missed out on what are now some of my all-time favorite TF moments. I mean, imagine if the Wook was like that? Could you imagine how useless entries for Dark Empire, Traviss, Darth Bane and Super Star Destroyers would become?
If that's the way you feel, then might I perhaps recommend as your TF encyclo-site of choice The Vector Sigma Database at Seibertron.com? It's far and away better than the Wiki. I am of course being 100% biased in that statement, considering I helped put it together, and am more or less the person who currently maintains it. I wasn't one of the people who hated AHM to start off with. In fact, back when everyone was complaining about it, I held out hope that things might improve as time went on. Around #9, though, those hopes crashed pretty badly, and only got worse as the subsequent two issues came out. And don't forget: no matter how badly IDW wants to push a "AHM was popular angle", the only reason we're getting the four additional issues is to plug the ten mile holes McCarthy dug while writing the first twelve. I do. And if you'll excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom.
I'll check that database out As I understand it, those 4 issues were originally meant to be a separate miniseries called AHM: Coda, and they just decided to make it part of the actual maxiseries. Still, I can see how these issues would seem to a person following IDW Continuity, though I gotta say- the Magnificence seems way too uber to have any meaningful followup that doesn't result in it's destruction
It's title may have been different, but it's purpose was still the same: to plug the continuity holes McCarthy created.
Sam and Mikela hide from Soundwave the constructicons and ravage. This was shown on MVT. Its on their site but blocked outside the US boo, so I linked to the youtube version. Looks pretty good with an insecticon in there as well.
I might actually find said subjects enjoyable? I see your point, but it's nice to have a wiki where the subject isn't treated with such gravitas and uber-seriousness. I still enjoy it and have found a lot of info out that I wouldn't have otherwise. Besides, some stuff has to be mocked. Kiss players, anyone? Oh, the new Arcee figure. [image=http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/9/96/ROTF_Deluxe_Arcee_toy.jpg] Sweet Primus, what the hell is that thing???
I used to watch transformers way back when everybody woke up early to watch saturday morning cartoons. I kinda got into watch the beast wars especially when they brought back then orginal transformers in one rare episode. As for the new transformers i just cant get into them they are not the same
Here's a pic of Mikaela and Sam on a suspiciously PINK Aprilia sports bike! [image=http://www.transformersblog.it/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/tf2foxpic1.jpg] Strange though that the film makers chose an RSV-125 learner bike rather than the 1000.
I've yet to see her as a Ducati. All the bikes I've seen her as till now have been Aprilias. Even the pic of her toy above is of an Aprilia RSV-1000. Aprilia headlights and you can tell it's a 1000 by the air intake between the lights. [image=http://www.motorcyclists-online.com/moto-essais-articles/images/illus/Aprilia_RSV1000R_2008_01.jpg]
I'm sure that is an Aprilia, but it's not Arcee. http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/2009/05/edmunds-ducati-article-confirms-arcee.html At least, all signs point toward her being a Ducati/3 Ducatis. EDIT: Unless, in the case of the second option, she could be more than one brnad of bike.
Oh god, it looks like it has the same hip bone joint thing as Barricade- the nightmareish invention that has prevented my Barricade toy from ever turning fully back into a car! EDIT- As an aside, to hose of you following the IDW stories- would you happen to know if the character profiles/sketches they have at the end of some of the Spotlight one-shots are included in the TPB volumes? I'm talking about the ones that, for example, show Sideswipe and his MTMTE cybertronian-inspired mode in the Galvatron issue, or Sentinel Prime sketches/alt-mode renderings in the Optimus issue.
It's premiered in Japan already. We can probably expect reactions/reviews to the film soon... A little over 2 weeks til it is released here in the United States!
Spoilers from someone on donmurphy.net who saw the film. Don closed the thread but [image=http://transformerslive.blogspot.com/]the blog got the first post The VA thing in the credits was way too fast, sorry guys. The Fallen was Todd something. Welker does voice Soundwave, and Devastator too. Devastator has one line, screaming his name. Soundwave only has a few lines but he speaks English. But he never comes down to earth and never turns into a robot. Bleah. Very little screen time, but at least he doesn't get exploded which leaves things open for the third movie. Mostly English, not much cybertronian. The Twins were lame. As in the "bust a cap in you ass" stereotype. I could've done without them. Jetfire was comic relief. He has a British accent and reminded me of a Monty Python character. He doesn't "combine" with Prime in the normal sense, he gets fatally wounded and rips out his spark, killing himself so Prime can use his parts. Wheelie is nothing like G1 Wheelie. He kinda reminds me of Rattrap. Lots of kitchen bots. One was a Samurai too. Bludgeon? Only named Constructicon is Rampage, and he is red. Megatron is revived by some Constructicons and "The Doctor." Sideways never transforms, he is cut in half by Sideswipe in the first battle scene in car mode. Sideswipe is cool. Ravage is cool too. There was a bot that looked like Blackout but he was not named. Blackout himself was never revived so I can't say it was him. He did not speak and was not named in the credits. In fact in the last battle scene there were tons of, well, "repaints," basically reused animation. So even after Devastator forms, there are still constructicons running around. And some Protoforms. I even saw a truck that looked like Bonecrusher...though I never saw him in robot mode. Scorponok is in the final battle too and is killed by Jetfire in about 2 seconds. There are three motorcycles, but they appear to be named collectively Arcee. Not much screen time/lines for them anyway. The term "Matrix of Leadership" is used, it's a key that operates a device to draw energy from the sun.
That's been posted on multiple websites, but the general concensus is that most of that information is fake.
it sounds pretty much in line with what I've read from other sites and what I've read about whats in the novel
Certain things though, like Sideways not transforming, most likely are fake since we've seen him transform in the trailers/Showest footage.
it's possible that commercial/trailer footage will only be in the IMAX edit and not the one screened.
