    The answer to the 70's movie question is 1978's Superman. At least I think it is...

    Once there was a civilization, much like ours, but with a greater intelligence, greater powers, and a greater capacity for good.

    In one tragic moment that world was destroyed. But there was one survivor.

    Because of the wisdom and compassion of Jor-El, because he knew the human race had the capacity for goodness, he sent us his only son.

    His name is Kal-El, he will call himself Clark Kent, but the world will know him as Superman.

    1938 points to the Dark Knight for returning and striking again ;) with the correct answer.

    I never would have guessed. Was he supposed to be doing the part of Superman, or who? Or was he picked to be in Superman II with General Zod?

    Pop quiz:

    Who played General Zod and can you name at least 2 other movies he was in? Point value 1200!

    According to Dave he was all set to play Superman but couldn't speak without his British accent. The producers felt having someone who stood for "truth, justice and the American way" speak like a Brit wouldn't (bad pun) fly, so they hired Chris Reeve with Dave as his personal trainer.

    Terrance Stamp has appeared in, the obvious, The Phantom Menace, Superman: The Movie (briefly), and although I haven't seen it, I believe he was in something called Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Other than that I'm drawing a blank.

    Terrance Stamp also hosted a late night HBO show called "The Hunger" just prior to TPM. :D

    the show was weird, but cool.

    I will give the 1200 point award to DonC for his amazing knowledge of Terrance Stamp and that film called Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. ;) Just what everyone wants to see, General Zod in drag. 8-}

    And an additional 1200 points to Exalted_1 for knowing obscure facts about same said Terrance Stamp!

    I'll come up with a good question later, but the brain is on pause right now.

    Just for the heck of it (and to bump this up) I've gone back and calcuated everybody's points totals, here they are in random order:

    Qui-Gon Ludo: 4,545
    Darth Stew: 8,500
    Padawan Schlicher: 35,275
    Gay-Len Kenobi: 59,580
    maramijade: 13,500
    Imperial Recruiter: 9,703
    Draith Starborne: 4,000
    JediMike: 19,000
    Emerald Greene: 3,000
    DarkKnightVaugn: 2,938
    Exalted 1: 1,200

    and finally DonC: 21,830 (although I think I should get at least 10,000 more points for going through all these pages and adding this shi-, stuff up.

    Also, Darth Ludicrous, Sebulba-X, and myself answered questions with no point value given, Qui-Gon Ludo and Lady Lucas got 10 Nice Try points for incorrect answers, and Darth Stew got 1 high five.

    My gosh! The one time I started to attempt to track the point total, I spent a good hour trying to make sense of it all. And that was way back when there were only about 4 pages. I can't imagine how long it took you to figure the current results out. [face_shocked] Of course, I could just be slow. 8-}

    Well, it looks like the demand for a trivia question is becoming greater. Let's see if I've got any magic stumpers up my sleeve... Oh wait, I'm not wearing any sleeves. 8-}

    What was the worldwide theatrical gross of the original version of Star Wars: A New Hope? Yes, I'm talking about the non-special edition, which ironically enough is now more special since it is now harder to get a copy of it.

    This will have a 3000 point bonus attached to it!

    Bengals, Browns, Ravens....blah blah blah. There is only 1 team that reigns supreme over the NFL Galaxy...The PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!! How can you stop a team when they have a defense capable of more destruction than the Death Star. May the Force be with you all.

    Actually, Sean is a Cincy resident. I think that his post was meant to be for Big_Daddy_Payne in the Any plans... thread.

    Now let's see...$390 Million is good info to have, but it doesn't exactly answer the question.

    Here's a multiple choice to help out...

    A.$400 Million
    B.$475 Million
    C.$513 Million

    $475 million is incorrect. Please guess again! :)

    Lady_Lucas, as of right now, you've got a whopping 10 points. A quick guess on the current question could get you a bunch more!

    And as far as Harrison Ford's age...

    Isn't he something like 58 years old now?

    Yes, in fact, it was $513 million. 3000 Points to Exalted_1.

    Give me a few hours to figure out a really good question to post, or feel free to post one, folks!

    I have two questions. Since they are related I will post one now and one later.

    What is the first name George Lucas came up with for Star Wars?

    According to my Star Wars Chronicles book by Deborah Fine:

    May 1973- "Lucas completes a thirteen-page plot summary that opens as follows: 'This is the story of Mace Windu, a revered Jedi-bendu of Opuchi who was related to Usby C. J. Thape, padawan learner to the famed Jedi."

    Sorry Don, it was WindU... not WindY.

    Ah, so it's a battle you seek eh Eric?

    Star Wars: The Annotated Sreenplays by Laurent Bouzereau: "It all beagn in 1973 when Lucas sat down and wrote a forty-page outline entitled 'Journal of Whills' about 'Mace Windy, a revered Jedi Bendu from Ophuchi' as told by 'C.J. Thorpe, Padawaan learner of the famed Jedi.'"

    Bouzereau had access to Lucas' original handwritten drafts and interviewed George on several occasions for his book.

    And it's no fair giving answers to questions when you heard the question two weeks ago from me. No points for you. [face_mischief] And don't answer part two of the Mace Windu/Windy questions either. :mad:

    Mace Windu/Windy is correct. Here's the second part: what three letters were allegedly carved into the base of Mace Windu's lightsaber?
