The X-Files was, like, the first show to have a massive online following, and as a result there are still a lot of X-Files sites and forums, even though the show has been dead for four years.

I'll be getting back to reviews pretty soon, but right now is getting toward crunch time at school, and I just had a money draining trip to South Carolina this weekend. Believe me, I'm very eager to see how things continue.

I have heard it in many movies and I always forget8-} It's got this cool synth beat that goes something like this. da dadada dadada da da di da da[face_whistling] [face_dancing]

    Season 5

Hello again. I just finished the 5th season and it was realy good. Though there was some weak episodes in the middle of it all. The myth episodes were awsome and the good standalones like all souls, unusual suspects, bad blood, folie a deux and Kill switch were great as well. Not as good as the 4th season but still realy good. You get to know Scully's family realy well too. The new twist in this season was the trade of belifes. Mulder was pretty much a skeptic through the whole season while Scully started beliving in the paranormal. Looking forward to the next season and here is the scores.

    Redux 6/6
    Redux II 6/6
    Unusual suspects 5/6
Detour 3/6 (Where is Arnold when you need him)
    The post-modern prometheus 5/6 [face_pumpkin]
    Christmas carol 5/6
    Emily 5/6 :_|
    Kitsunegary 3/6 (Pusher's back)
    Shizogeny 3/6
Chinga 3/6 (Steven King can do alot better:oops: )
    Kill switch 4/6
    Bad blood 6/6 [face_laugh]
    Patient X 5/6
The red and the black 5/6
    Travelers 2/6 I-)
    Mind's eye 1/6 [face_sick]
    All souls 5/6
    The pine bluff variant 4/6
    Folie a deux 5/6[face_laugh]
The end 6/6 (Scully is so in love[face_shhh])

Most of the big X-Files sites (including much of the official site) are long gone. Its rather sad IMHO. Does anyone here have a favorite X-Files site? How about one with a real active BBoard community?

Season 5 is good in parts, the first 4 episodes, i think detour is better than you gave it. But many good episodes, even though it is a step down from season 4. Christmas Carol and Emily are good, but Scullys brother really bothers me.

I am in the minority of fans that far prefer the myhthology eps. When it came time to purchase X-FILES dvds it was nice to only buy the 4 mini-boxes of mythology eps (16 discs and 60 episodes strong). Its great to watch them in chronological order as if the other 140 eps didn't exist. Granted many of the MOTW eps are great, but occasionally seeing one on TV is enough for me.

If they ever do make another movie I hope its a mythology movie (which I am sure it would be frankly), lets just hope it does happen.

I used to really love Autumn Tysko's reviews. Do a yahoo search for her name and X-Files.

Yeah, the mythology ones are my favorites, too. However there are fantastic MotW episodes like: Fire, Detour, Home, Arcadia, Dreamland Parts One and Two, Eve, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Hungry, The Unnatural (although that's sort of mythology-ish), How the Ghosts Stole Christmas, The Drive, Triangle, Quagmire and many more!

I realy dont care what kind of episode it is as long as it's good. So far there is way way more good than bad and the bad ones are compared to the great episodes and not to other T.V show episodes. I would pick a weak X-files episodes over any smalville, Buffy, lost or 24 episode any day.

the standalones to me are the only ones i want to watch alot. There are some good mythology eps, i did like Tunguska, Christmas Carol, but just the great episodes are the motw eps, usually written by Vince Gilligan or Darin Morgan, i watched Unruhe the other day, very good episode.

The "mythology" storyline started out pretty good, but over time it became nonsensical and needlessly convoluted.

I'm gonna have to agree there. The mythology was great, and in the earlier seasons it played out brilliantly....but after a while it got to a point where it was getting spread too thin and often pretty riduculous. In fact, the mythos is pretty basic and could be summed up in a sentence or too - but it was so overplayed and interwoven with side plots that even today there are elements that just make the sort of sense that doesn't.

Still a great show though. [face_peace]

Yeah, the mythology is actually surprisingly simple. It just took a long time to be able to piece anything together and there a lot of so-called mythology episodes that were really more Monster of the Week . . . just because there are aliens in, doesn't mean it's a mythology show, I don't think.

Unruhe or Paper Hearts. Unruhe had me jumping out of my seat with excitement, but I did the same for parts of Paper Hearts ("It's the wrong house, you stupid son of a bitch!").

The mythology was cool until Mulder got psychic alien powers or whatever that was.

Yeah, the mythology is actually surprisingly simple.

Let's see if I got it right:

The black oil infected the little gray aliens and through them they contacted the Syndicate so they would supply them for test subjects. The test subjects were to become alien human hybrids or Super Soldiers to make the colonzation easier. In exchange the Syndicate members would be saved from the culling.

However, a rebel faction formed to stop the black oil from gaining a foothold in the galaxy. They mutilated their faces so the black oil couldn't control them. Thus, they burned the Syndicate so that no more deals would be made with humans.

Yet the colonization is still set for 2012 and we don't know if the rebels will be able to stop it or if it will be up to Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

And don't tell me the Smoking Man is dead. He never dies.

Best fourth season is definitly either Momento Mori or Small Potatoes. A great example of the show's range. What other show would have those two episodes in one series, let alone one season?

But the fourth season was really hitting stride; lot of brilliant episodes: Unruhe, Paper Hearts, Demons, Elegy, Gethsemene, Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man, Zero Sum, Max . . . lot of great eps that season.
