Y'know, I'd love it if CPB issued a press release,
"Thank you for your advice, Mr. President. But since we're an independent agency, like the Fed and the SEC, we don't serve at the behest of the President. We'll take your suggestïon under advisement."

This is so meaningless in the midst of all that's going on right now, but in Virginia they add money to our car registration to make up for the gas tax. I even allow the state to follow around my car to see how much mileage I drive so that I am charged the right amount. Because I have an EV law enforcement could find out where I was and when with my car even if the state didn't "track" it. All newer cars can be tracked. Anywho, I don't get out of the tax and I'm sure lots of other states have figured this out as well.

As for everything else, it's bad it's all bad. And I'm scared.

... and the jobs report came out. It's even better than expected! More jobs than ever!

Exactly what I thought would happen. Again, we have some absurd, unbelievable numbers - do you really think that the Federal Government only had 9000 layoffs and firings in April? (Again, they don't count people still collecting severance and are on 'administrative leave') But none of that matters, because with the report and the news that China is thinking about considering trade talks with the US (which they've already said, repeatedly) has caused the stock market to spike. Wait, didn't it also spike on the false claims by the US government that they were already in trade talks with China? [face_dunno]
BTW, it's worse than first expected - even with nearly 300,000 Federal employees actually out of work and only about 40,000 counted, there's also an estimated 1.2 million contractors with the Federal government that have been let go that aren't showing.

They know that this is happening. How are they expecting to get away with this? Because they are using the old Silicon Valley technique with the US economy - 'fake it til you make it'. They know that their brilliant economic schemes are going to pay off - how many admonishments have they made recent to 'just be patient'? - but the dumb old public will panic and stuff over the 'short term' pain, so they just have to buy some time and everything will be alright! Really!

That Trump is already talking about a restriction of goods for Christmas should give you a good idea of the minimum length of the 'short term' is going to be. And yes, no Federal worker is going to have severance lasting until then. My guess is that when they come off severance, the DOL will make the call to not include those workers in the numbers because they aren't 'really' new unemployed... hoping no one notices that they were never counted to begin with.

Well sure, the average American is too lazy and stupid to 'look under the hood' and really dig into the numbers.

Biden spent the entire campaign saying 'the economy was great' when it really wasn't. That didn't work, this won't either. Facts on the ground can't be whitewashed to this extent. Trump is falling into the same trap and it won't end well.

But @blackmyron, won't all of Donny Two Dolls manufacturing jobs be back in the US by then? So much employment!

The only issue right now is that the public really isn't the target audience - honestly, I don't think they give a **** as long as they can 'fix things' before the midterms. It's Wall Street, which unfortunately jumps at the slightest hint that things might be good.
But you're absolutely right - all the spin in the ****ing world isn't going to magically fill cargo ships, lower prices, or put goods on shelves. And while regular people don't matter to the Trump administration except at election time, the various big corporations ultimately serve the Almighty Dollar.

(Good thing there's little to no chance that something catastrophic might happen in the US in the meantime)

Think 2028 Trump campaign will try to do some constitutional workaround to run or he'll just run without even bothering to address what the constitution says

I suspect the campaign is currently in the 'own the libs' stage. They aren't serious yet, until they are.

Besides, they can rely on the MSM to do the work for them - I've already seen a dozen or so articles of the type "Can President Trump Run For A Third Term? Here Are Four Ways That It Might Be Possible" by 'traditional media'.

@blackmyron Many of the government employees are still furloughed, therefore are not counted. That will change over the next few months, along with all the truckers, shipyard workers, etc, who will be laid off first (again ironically since many backed Trump) as even cookbooks cannot hide it.

@Vaderize03 Actually, it will work because this country has really shifted right, and the press is now ruled by a bunch of oligarch billionaires who just refuse to challenge Trump and his administration of incompetent bozos truly. The idea that the country will suddenly be swayed to ditch Trump/Republicans truly is laughable. The economy is already way worse than it was in the last two years under Biden. However, if the election were held today, Trump would defeat Harris yet again, with most people saying Trump is better for the economy. When shelves go empty, Trump will blame Biden. When the massive layoffs happen, Trump will blame Biden. When trips to McDonald's become too expensive for many Americans, Trump will blame Biden. And the press will comply since billionaire oligarchs control them. Many people will look at Biden's economy as the "worst ever" but then say Trump's isthe "best ever" even though by January 2025, Biden had the US economy so strong it was envy of the world while Trump has self intentionally scuddled the US economy that will take perhaps decades to recover fully. We are truly in the upside-down.

@BigAl6ft6 He will run for a third term one of three ways:

    1. The Supreme Court will pull the biggest mental gymnastics of all time, saying Amendment 22 only stops someone from having three terms in a row, even though it's black and white that nobody shall ever serve more than two terms in office.
    2. They will show a backbone and follow the constitution, saying, "No, nobody can serve more than two terms as president since it's written in black and write." Therefore, he will ignore it and dare anyone to stop him like he has.
    3. He will cancel the election over "national security."

I fully resigned myself to the fact that he only leaves office one of two ways:

    1. In a body bag, aka a corpse.
    2. An angry mob drags him out of the office.

And out of the two? I would bet dollar to donuts it's #1 over #2 even though I don't expect him to croak for several years even though he is absolutely awful physical shape and his brain is nothing more then vanilla pudding at this point (don't care what anyone says his mental decline is worse then Biden's truly, watch him on that interview with Terry Moran, he could not even answer simple questions even though Moran only pressed him on a few occasions) as longevity via genes and handing access to cutting edge technology will make sure he doesn't die anytime soon. I fully expect that by 2028, he will be barely able to function even the most basic of tasks (right now he gets winded picking up his golf tee), but it won't matter. He will run again and most likely win again. Worst. Timeline. Ever.

@blackmyron These people don't have sense of humors just like they don't have friends. That is why Mark Zuckerberg is creating friends for them:

    https://futurism.com/zuckerberg-lonely-friends-create-ai

When everything in life is a transaction (just listen to how some of them even talk about their spouses and kids, particularly MAGA men), you are incapable of having any real relationships, including friendship. It almost makes me feel sorry for them. The keyword is almost.

And don't look now, but American Psycho Stephen Miller is most likely going to be the next NSA:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...-s-next-national-security-adviser/ar-AA1E3Qs2

Get ready for us to see bombing by the US military on its own people. Ironically, Little Marco is actually qualified to be NSA. Don't get me wrong, he is a total idiot who will be an absolute disaster at it, but I will admit, he is qualified for it. He was either the vice chair or the Senate Foreign Relations Committee so at least he has experience unlike Miller who is just a crazy dumb evil racist nazi stooge.

AOC is a badposterior. She is in Trump's skull, his empty anterior. But she is crushing him. She's the leader of the pack. In contrast, he's a desperate motherfornicator.

Agreed. Though, I hope she doesn't run for President. I saw a Washington Post poll today. Though it reflects the negative ratings of Trump, it also asked what people thought of Harris now. Same result as the election.

Apologies to the XX chromosome folks here, but I don't think this country will elect a female President any time in the near future.
