Walken's also made numerous appearances on SNL.

Christopher Walken is a favorite actor of mine. I use to dislike him for a time, but over the years I really started to come around and enjoy his performances and his general self.

Walken has a style and an attitude that can never be done by anyone else. He defined himself with that voice and with the odd way he states things, and that's something he'll always been uniquely remembered for.

The thing that's greatest about Walken is the fact that he's been in his fair share of crappy films. A lot of them, actually. Yet despite that, he can always manage (lately, at least) to give a performance that brings a bright spot to the film, IMO.

And although I don't want to sound like I'm obsessed over the actor (too late :p), I would like to say that I thought his performance in Catch Me if You Can deserved the Oscar for Supporting Actor. For anybody who's seen the film, there is a scene in a resturant where Walken's character (Frank Abagnale Sr.) is talking to Leo DiCaprio and there is a very specific moment where he gets choked up talking about his wife. The DVD of the movie explains that it wasn't a scripted scene, and that Walken did it on the spot. That is an actor, ladies and gentlemen :D

Recently I saw Man on Fire (very good film) and again loved his performance.

The board is set. The pieces are moving. Discuss now...

    ;)

He was the only man who could have pulled that scene in " Pulp Fiction."

" Your father held that watch, in his ass, for five years. Then when he died, I carried this uncomfartable hunk of metal in my ass for two years."

There was this article in the New York Times magazine about him a 3 weeks ago or so. One point it mentioned is that when Walken gets a script, he takes out the punctuation marks and recites lines his way.

Check out his performance as a pest exterminator in Mouse Hunt. It's positively brilliant.

I love King of New York even though its rarely mentioned by anyone. Sure, the movie was ridiculously violent but I just love it.

And I love Walken, too, of course, but Im starting to worry a bit that he's becoming a pardoy of himself of late.

    Thoughts ?

Well, I think lately a lot of directors have been casting him in movies to purposely parody himself. However, I think he tries his best to give an actual performance while still keeping up with his usual antics. He's still, the...man.

For anyone who has seen The Rundown, there's this quick shot during the ending action montage where Walken is watching The Rock beat the hell out of everyone in town over video cameras. And at one point, he says: "What nerve!"

It's not the dialogue, but the way he said it. His attitude, expression, and delivery of that simple line is my favorite scene in that entire movie. It's things like that which is what amazes me about the man.

Shame on any Walken fan who doesn't yet own Suicide Kings on DVD. It's one of the cheapest DVDs out there, priced at around $5.00 everywhere it's for sale. Walken's on fire, and the entire supporting cast is terrific. Hugely entertaining.
