I love Dave Matthews Band, so I thought I would start a thread where we can all talk about how wonderful, talented, and smashingly attractive the band is. ;) Come in, have a drink, and profess your undying love for Dave and his band.

    [image=http://images.art.com/images/PRODUCTS/large/10085000/10085051.jpg]

I thought of a few things to talk about just to get this fiesta started:

    1. Why do you love DMB?
    2. What is your favorite album and/or song?
    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now?
    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else.

    As for me:

    1. I love DMB because I think they're incredibly poetic and have amazing musical talent. I always love the lyrics, and I love how they incorporate such an eclectic collection of instruments and make it sound so awesome.
    2. Hmm... This is tough. Well, I love the song Pig, so at the moment I think that's my favorite song. I just started listening to Live at Red Rocks, and I adore it, so I think that's my favorite album right now.
    3. Like I said, my friend just burned me Live at Red Rocks, and I love it.
    4. Anything else... Well, as I've been listening to LaRR, I've been wondering: What do the lyrics to Sattelite mean? I love the song, but I'm having a little difficulty comprehending it. Any ideas?

    Ooh, and another thing:

    [image=http://www.gwe.net/~ccox/dmb/dave.jpg]
My favorite picture of Dave. :D

Also, if you anyone has a better suggestion for the thread title, we can definitely change it. :D

    Cheers,
    LM

    Yes, #41 is great.

My favorite is the very rare #40 (Always). Beauuuuutiful.

By the way...is there any experience that compares to attending a DMB show live during the summer? Some of the best memories of my life are with friends down at Alpine Valley watching DMB.

    I love #41 too. :)

I don't think I've ever heard #40. Do you know what the lyrics are?

They only play it live. Here are the lyrics for one of the variations...

    "Share the time again
    I spend with you
A friend is always good to have
But a lover's kiss is better than angels raining down at me
I dream of you at times when your by my side
Dream you're not just like you are
So troubled and doubling my pain
    Just one more tear
    You shed for me
I wish that I could climb inside your mind
And spend some time and hug and hold you
And mold you into what i'd like
But no i can't do this
Just a kiss to spend a while by you
And your familiar smile and voice

    I lay awake

Then you lean back and smiling
    On you
Most everything you do for me, I say
And the while let's make our way
    And feel warm
In the middle of this storm with you
    Like an angel

Oh, what the friends say is good is right
    I say
    When you were again
    And you were my friend
    Before the lie
    This one
    Say yes I do
    And with you
    Sometimes
But while I do my best
With all the rest I leave to you

    Can't wait for the hour

And when two things become this
All this trouble from a kiss from you, i'll do it
And then you come up smiling
    And I'm thrown
Into I get a little storm with you, I'll do it

    Always
    Lover, line up and yeah
The road to you is long and I've been on it for a while
And a need a warm embrace
    I'll take a break

And say I want to leave you awake

    Always"

How sweet. :) Is that on 'Listener Supported'? It seems vaguely familiar, but I can't tell if I recognize it without hearing it. My new mission is to find #40. :p

I used to hate DMB, but gradually I started to like their stuff more and more and now I'm a pretty big fan. I think the new single "Gray Street" is a great song.

    1. Why do you love DMB?

Umm... I'm not sure I'm at the point where I love DMB, but I do enjoy their music and as time go on, am getting more and more into them. :)

    2. What is your favorite album and/or song?

Tough one. I always have difficulty with picking one song. So... among my favorites are Grey Street, Grace Is Gone, The Space Between, Bartender...

On Grey Street I really enjoy both the BS verion and the LW recording. :)

    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now?

Err... I'm not listening to anything. :p

    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else.

Right now I'm probably what would be called a casual fan. But I'm branching out to hear more of there stuff. :)

    1. Why do you love DMB?

I enjoy the sound of the music.

    2. What is your favorite album and/or song?

Hmm, it changes alot. It's probably Seek Up or Big Eyed Fish. I can just see the teeny-bopper Crash fans going "What are those songs? I only know The Space Between" :)

    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now?

Rhyme & Reason -- I can't get enough of it. Stay away from heroin, kids!

    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else.

    I'll see y'all at D+T in March! :D

    1. Why do you love DMB? I bought Under the table and dreaming in '94 and just started to listen to them from then on.

    2. What is your favorite album and/or song? Their best album, IMO, is Everyday(but, UTTAD is great, too ;) ) and my favorite song is Warehouse.

    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now? I'm lifting with the TV on, so none.

    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else. Nah, I guess not.

One of my many goals in life is to see them in concert. It's supposed to be an amazing show.

    GOA is A-OK!!

I had to cancel my tickets :_| it became to expensive to go to NC to see them. I got to see D&T back a few years ago so I suppose I am still somewhat lucky.

    1. Why do you love DMB? Never before had a band had music that I could relate to so much. The first time I heard seekup back in 92 I thought he was talking right to me.

    2. What is your favorite album and/or song?
Kinda hard to pick a favorite but in no particular order

    1. Heathcliffs Haiku Warrior
    2. Two Step
    3. Seekup

Notable mentions: Lie in our grave, Say Goodbye, JTR

    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now? I can't remember the exact date cause I am not at work but it was the Riverport Amphetheater show from 2000. Has a great JTR on it

    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else. Met the band back on the under the table and dreaming album. Dave gave me a necklass. Another necklass he gave to my friend he is actually wearing in the Ants Marching video.

First time I took my wife to seat them the good ole warehouse upgraded from last row floor to front row between Stefan and Dave.

*note to any traders out there if you have any IEM's or DSBD from post 94 let me know ;)

What is this? I can't believe that there are so many fellow DMB fans here!

And I thought Dowe and I were all alone here ;)

    1. Why do you love DMB? From the first time I them, in 1994, their music touched my soul. It doesn't hurt that Dave is a hottie either ;)
    2. What is your favorite album and/or song? My favorite album is probably one of the live shows I have. Favorite song... too many to pick from. My top three would be, in no particular order :

    1. Dancing Nancies
    2. Dreaming Tree
    3. Say Goodbye

    3. What DMB song/album listening to right now? The Dave solo show from 10/24/02
    4. Anything else relevant to DMB. Or just anything else. I was turned down for D & T tickets :(. I'll just have to live vicariously through those of you going. Eat Drink & Be Merry!

Something intersting I found at dmband.com.

I hope this letter finds you all well and that in these uncertain times you find moments to be joyful.

I want to speak my mind about this war with Iraq, or I will choke on my conscience.

What is the motivation? Regime change? Shouldn't that be up to the people of the region and the people of Iraq? The only real threat from Saddam Hussein is to his neighbors and none of them support a U.S. invasion. Is it to stabilize the Middle-East? Wouldn't it only do the opposite by causing further death and suffering in a country that has had more than its share?

Is it to weaken Al Qaeda? Saddam Hussein is a genocidal maniac but he is not Al Qaeda. He is certainly more visible though. Is he our target because he is easier to identify than the illusive terrorist network? Surely it is more likely that an attack on Iraq would only strengthen Al Qaeda by feeding Anti-American sentiment. Putting out the fire with gasoline, so to speak. It is certainly not to liberate the people of Iraq who suffer under Hussein's rule, unless we call killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis liberation.

Saddam Hussein is a barbaric murderous dictator. I wish the world were free of him. But the answer is not to bomb this great culture of Iraq out of existence to stop him. Why must the children of Iraq die by the thousands to stop a tyrant? It is not justice. And if we kill him what will we achieve? We will have taken the most unpopular leader in the Middle East and turned him into the greatest martyr radical Islam has ever had. The U.N. weapons inspectors must be allowed to do their job thoroughly and any military action should be internationally agreed upon. We must not allow our government to turn us into a rogue nation.

I fear that our true motivation is about oil and our own flailing economy; about the failure to destroy Al Qaeda and about revenge. It is criminal to put our servicemen and women in harm's way and to put the lives of so many civilians on the line for the misguided frustrations of the Bush administration.

Bottom line: this war is wrong and this war is un-American.

    Peacefully submitted,
    Dave Matthews

I tend to agree with Dave. Sure, I'd love to see Saddam out of power, but this isn't the way to do it. The United States is not the police of the world and any action taken should be done by the multi-national UN, not just by us. I also agree that this is as much about terrorism as it is about oil.

My ex-gf got me hooked on DMB and one song in particular. Which song? I don't know! It starts with seven higher strums on the guitar and then four quick low baritone sax hits. Its on an older CD, not everyday and I'm sure its not on Busted Stuff. Can anyone please help me?
