The Session for Robert Johnson DVD. Most of the band stuff is missing something (notable exception being "If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day")-- maybe it's just because he never ripped the guitar solos out like in From the Cradle -- but Clapton's acoustic performances (solo and w/ Doyle Bramhall II) are awesome.
I posted in the Shelf of Shame that I've never heard Layla and I thought you all should know. Actually, the only Clapton song I think I've ever heard is Tears In Heaven.
Sessions for Robert Johnson DVD - we discussed it no so long ago. Edit: Never heard Layla the album, you mean. You cannot mean the song[interrobang]
Aha, thank you gentlemen, now I know what to ask for this coming Father's Day! Well, it looks like I won't be going to see the man this Saturday Click. My wife has to work, and there's no way I can take the kids/find a babysitter. I really wanted to at least take my oldest daughter. What better first concert than Clapton?
She did mean the song, she asked about it in the chat. The other options were All Along the Watchtower and London Calling, IIRC.
Clapton is playing here in Indianapolis tomorrow. My girlfriend and I bought all our parents tickets for Mothers'/Fathers' Day presents, so the six of us are all going together. We're all really looking forward to it.
I have heard All Along the Watchtower, only in the context of BSG I think the third choice was Like A Rolling Stone.
Ordered this yesterday for NZ$20. It's a few years old, but I'd never heard of it before I stumbled across it on a games website. Not expecting anything great, but should be good for a laugh and always nice to hear Eric soloing on classic songs (that are not his own). Hopefully it'll turn up tomorrow...
Are these videos of one of their earlier performances? I can identify Clapton and Fairweather-Low, obviously, but I'm pretty sure there are a couple other British music stars there.
Yeah, the lineup always changes, though it seems Brooker, Clapton and Waters are regulars. The most recent one here - charity to keep Fox Hunting in the english countryside.
Awesome interview with Jack Bruce here. Confirms Cream were supposed to do the Erhtegun tribute, until Led Zep took over. Also wants another shot at a Cream reunion (they're meeting in October) and he wasn't well at the last reunions. And a 22 date US festival tour starting next month! Also a Bruce retrospective box-set is out now. http://www.jackbruce.com
lol, I love the Cream vs. Zeppelin mindset Bruce has. He's always seemed bitter that Cream didn't last long enough to take on Jimmy Page's new project.
