Jedha was much more distinctly its own thing than the knockoff not-tatoonies of the ST.

Terrible for me is too harsh when it comes to RO, but yes I find the movie boring until the final part, where things get a bit more interesting, and I never felt in love with characters or story. I dug a bit and in 2019 I had a ranking where Solo is below RO and I since then I changed my mind. I prefer to watch Solo, even though, at the opposite, the final part of that movie will never make any sense to me (in fact Solo kind of makes little sense to me from beginning to end but putting that aside I do find it enjoyable).

None of the Disney Wars movies really make a lot of sense... :p

The least sense SW ever makes is whenever money are involved.
There is a bit of weirdness since Obi wan discussing the price with Han in 1977, then it gets worse in Leia and Jabba bomb incident, just to reach complete madness in the card games between Lando and Han, not to mention Watto and Qui Gon of course.

So you're saying Republic credits make less sense than the Euro? :p

Actually more than money itself I'd say that what's always super silly is how people in SW universe bargain, or bet, or have agreements. Those are my favorite moments.

The Scarif fleet battle was pretty great, probably the best fleet action we’ve seen on screen, not just in terms of spectacle but also coherence.

Still bitter the ST decided the Republic didn’t have a fleet.

The good guys don't need a space armada because they've got Teh peoplez on their side! ;)

Which of course begs the question, why did "the people" even need a Republic or Rebel Alliance at all, when all they had to do was just rise up in arms and get on their spaceships to bring down the bad guys... [face_dunno]

In all of my human lifespan, the thing that is still most confounding to me is the Qui-Gon/Watto bet sequence.

to me, in order of nonsense it goes something like
    1) Lando and Han betting on their imaginary ships out of nowhere
    2) Leia threatening to detonate a bomb during a bargain with Jabba
    3) yes Watto and Qui-Gon has a solid third place

DJ is maybe the only character ever who realized the lack of bargaining skills of virtually everyone else in the universe and used it in his favor with Hux.

There were some more things happening in that sequence than just the Citizens' Fleet showing up.

As to why they'd need the Republic; it turns out that some 14,000 ships isn't an effective body of government.

You know I was being slightly snarky, right? And I meant needing the Republic as something to fight the bad guys, not for running the ordinary business of governing :p

I'm glad the galaxy went from "**** off, we won't send you a single ship" to "sure, we've got a bunch of warships around, we're just waiting on Lando to ask us for help - he fought at the Battle of Tanaab* you know!"

*(Just a reminder: the Tanaab system features the planet Myron.)

Yeah. All it took was for Lando to get on his ship, go say "hi" to a few folks, and presto! -- faster than you can say Deus ex machina -- the galaxy was saved from the most dangerous menace it had ever encountered.
