In the TPM commentary, George Lucas said he likes to end his films with a musical number with little to no dialogue (i.e. the flag parade, birth of the Empire/Anakin and Padme's wedding). Let's be honest, there's a lot of ground to cover in episode III. I thought about how Lucas might end the Prequel trilogy and this is a theory I have for what he may do.

There's a scene where Obi-Wan Kenobi visits the Lars and gives them Luke. Then we cut to Sidious who says something to the effect of, "Lord Vader it is time for your first assignment." To which Vader replies, "Yes, my master." A triumphant Imperial March starts to play and we cut to Vader wiping out various Jedi in an assassin like fashion at different places and times (think The Godfather). The triumphant Imperial March slowly quiets into the somber end of Anakin's theme and we're back to Obi-Wan in the desert, Anakin's theme molds into a quiet rendition of The Force theme. The silhouette of Obi-Wan walks across the sand as the twin suns of Tatooine slowly rise to mark the beginning of a new day. Iris out.

By the way, it will seem a little odd for this dark film to iris out to the triumphant music that always plays during the end credits. Does anyone think Lucas might have John Williams create something a little more somber for the credits at the end of episode III?

It should just end with Obi-Wan delivering Luke to the Lars' and then walking off into the sunrise/sunset. That way it would still be hopeful and the end credits music wouldn't seem so out of place.

But the fact that this is such an obvious way to end the movie makes me think Lucas will go with something different.
