Perhaps Luke was probably taken away from Padme almost immediately, while Leia may have stayed with her long enough to develop some connection. It may have only been a few days, but that could have been enough.

I'd wondered if we might see a more pronounced, less playful version of the "I don't think the system works" AOTC scene in Ep III between Padme and Anakin. Perhaps a disagreement over Palpatine continuing with his Emergency power after the Clone Wars are concluded.

Yes I can see this happening as well... it makes perfect sense. We already know how Anakin and Padme feel about the situation in the Republic and how they believe it should be dealt with. The tragic thing is that they both want to do the "right thing", although through very different ways. The two of them discussing it would work well thematically.

It also makes sense for Padme to have some indirect involvement in the formation of the Rebellion (although it's too early for something "formal")... look at the company she keeps- Bail Organa and Mon Mothma. But that being said, they are going to have enough trouble dealing with the Seperatists, Palaptine taking over, death of the Jedi etc. to really plot much of anything... other than a seed that tells us there are some loyal to the Old Republic who are willing to fight back.

I think it works better if Bail and Mon Mothma are utterly defeated and hopeless at the end of the movie. That way, ANH is a bit of surprise, when we think that the Sith have won the galaxy over forever, now we find out that someone has decided to fight back, and then we find out that Anakin's boy has been pulled into the galactic struggle.

Agreed. It depends, I suppose, on just how much Lucas wants to tie together the PT and the OT.

There appears to be some people out there who want connections established for every little detail - why Dagobah? What is Yoda's species? et cetera.

As long as Lucas answers the main questions, that's all we need.

It's interesting in AOTC that Padme and Bail are part of the Loyalist Committee, no? Fairly ironic considering how things turn out in Episode III.

For me, I think Anakin for one, agrees how the Republic had dealt with Separatists also that supporting the control Palpatine has with anyone or organization who dares go against him.

Meanwhile people like Bail and Padme and Obi Wan for that matter, do not agree with the grip Palpatine's having.

Therefore, Anakin in essense hasn't really changed, but the others (with some of whom he had friendship/relationship with have).

Anakin will be feeling justified with his support for Palpatine, who has been guiding him. Anakin said it himself "your guidance more than my patience".

Agreed. From Anakin's perspective, he is the ONLY Jedi who remains loyal to the government of the galaxy. He serves Palpatine loyally his entire life, until the end. In his eyes, the Rebels and Organa (and possibly Padme) are traitors against a standing government that has been in place since Anakin was 10 years old and Palpatine took power. Padme and Bail also stood loyally by Palpatine, until they decided they didn't like his methods and became traitors against the government.

Right along the lines of my thinking as well Stormcloud8. Its clear to me that from Anakin's statement "then they should be made to...well if it works", he's already supporting Palpatine big time.

It is also interesting that he snickers and actually subtlety clarifies that he is serious "I'll be much too frightened to tease a Senator". If you see Padme's look to that response. She smiles at first but seems to show that she is a bit bothered by Anakin's point of view. It seems they both decide not to pursue the matter any more, keeping it to themselves.

Maybe we'll see what that leads to when the Clone Wars reach the latter stages.
