There should be a Count Dooku book by Luceno

Just finished reading Darth Plagueis. Amazing read. Between Darth Plageis, Cloak Of Deception, Labyrinth of Evil, Dark Lord: The Rise of Dark Vader, and his Darth Maul short stories Restraint and Saboteur I really fell like he has filled in and fleshed out the prequel era brilliantly. However, there is one piece missing: Dooku. We are giving clues to his conversion from Jedi to Sith in DP and LOE - but to me at least, it seems clear that James Luceno wants very much flesh out Count Dooku's back story.

I wonder if this story will be told by Luceno is the inevitable Re-release the Attack Of The Clones novelization or a stand alone book...
Personally, I would prefer the latter.

How about you guys; would you like to read a Darth Tyranus novel?

EDIT- Making the title less misleading

I was asking for this before Plagueis [face_not_talking]

Yeah, Dooku is one of my favorite characters. Maybe it's because I'm a fan of Christopher Lee, but I just really enjoy his character, and think he's criminally unexplored (not quite underused, I suppose, thanks to TCW, but he's just there as the big bad guy). Plus I can't help but feel sorry for him in the ROTS novelization.

If not a novel, I would love something that features him heavily. Perhaps Luceno could find a way to take his concept of writing a book about Qui-Gon's search for immortality and combine it with a Dooku plot [face_thinking]. Only problem is that the meat of Dooku's story is between TPM and AOTC, a time in which Qui-Gon is dead. Of course, Darth Plagueis is a novel that jumps forward in time, but all three sections focus on the same central characters. Still, I think it could be very interesting to see a similar concept, with one section focusing on Qui-Gon, and another focusing on Dooku and Sidious. He's also mentioned he'd like to explore the "rend" in the Force, so that could conceivably be worked in there- perhaps as something Qui-Gon investigates? Discovering the Order of the Whills along the way?

Yeah, I'll take any Qui-Gon or Dooku story I can get.

I agree, and very underused in the movies. If a Dooku novel is to be made, I hope it's called Darth Tyranus (something that explores his character as a Sith Lord). Too bad that he's rarely referred that way.

In recent interviews I've read, Luceno ststes that the prequel era is now his favourite place to write. He mentioned that he has an idea for a prequel character we have either seen or heard of that he would like to write a book about. I'm thinking its either Sifo-Dyas or Dooku, or both.

Is it just me, or did anyone else notice that Dooku knows Palpatine is a Sith in SP? He constantly hints at it to Palpatine as if plaing a game. Its like he's just waiting for Sidious to admit it to him...

Why doesn't the Clone Wars TV show explore Dooku and Sidious more? Why do we keep getting stupid droid, Jar Jar, and poisioned soft drink episodes? I want to see more of the relationship between Tranus and Sidious?

Hands up who would liek to see a 3-part Sith trilogy?[:D]

Wookipedia says that Dooku and Sfi-Dyas were both given temporary seats on the Jedi High Council - does anyone know why and how this happened?

Ah, that's what I was forgetting. A three pronged story featuring Qui-Gon, Tyranus and Sify-Dyas could be great. Like I said, though, it could end up being really jumbled. Perhaps just Tyranus and Sifo-Dyas, though I would really like that Qui-Gon book at some point. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Qui-Gon investigating the cause of the "rend" in the dark side, and that investigation leading to his rediscovery of the Force ghost ability. Would fit the "balancing of the Force" theme Luceno had in Darth Plagueis.

Luceno did say that his favouite book to write was Cloak Of Deception and that Qui-Gon Jinn is his favourite star wars character.

I still need to read Cloak of Deception.

*off to Amazon to see if the Kindle edition is available*

I still need to read the Plagueis novel as well. Crap, I'm behind.

I would like to see Luceno do a Dooku/Tyrannus novel. Yoda: Dark Rendezvous went somewhat into Dooku's background, but there is plenty more room for exploration there.

One point I found interesting: Dooku, like Anakin, joined the Order late and remembered his mother, but unlike Shmi Skywalker, Dooku's mother had no love for her son and essentially gave him away--and that affected Dooku.

    Of course we don't.

How many useless episodes have we had in Season 4 alone? The Clone Wars is not going to last forever, why don't they use the time wisely and develop key characters, fill in the blanks, and give us epic clone warfare?

To be fair there have been some really good episodes, but there are still an aweful lot of rubbish ones as well. In season 1&2 I could forgive it, but not in 4. Its time they started aiming for a more consistent degree of excellence.

Anyway, this isn't the right thread to be talking about the Clone Wars, I shouldn't have brough it up.

I love DR. I'm STILL annoyed to this day that it wasn't given a hardcover treatment like so many lessor books have been.

The funny thing is that I never really gave a crap about Dooku until the Nightsisters trilogy. Half-drugged Dooku dueling Asajj and two Nightsisters in his pajamas. Priceless. [face_laugh]

And yes, a 3 part Sith trilogy would be awesome. [:D]

I'd love a Count Dooku book by James Luceno. His Darth Plageuis was awesome, so a simliar one dealing with Count Dooku would be, hopefeully, just as awesome. Plus it'd give me reason to use:

Only on the condition that it's entitled "Count Dooku" but is really all about Palpatine.

While I suspect you're (mostly) jesting, I think the perfect vehicle for a Luceno-penned Dooku novel would be what AOTC needed as a prequel novel, something more akin to Cloak of Deception than the tepid, one-off adventure that we got. Considering that the natural topic would be the development of the Separatist movement, Palpatine's own political machinations in getting his 'crisis extension' to his term would necessarily be a core part of it as well.

A good Dooku novel is in order if you ask me.
