Wasn't expecting to see Godzilla in a movie for a while so this is good news. I just hope it doesn't have Kong somehow beating Godzilla this time around (unless it's a prequel taking place way in the past) because their fight in GvK was perfect.

Any word on how this will relate to the Monsterverse show or is it too early to tell?

No word, other than it being billed explicitly as a sequel to GvK, so it seems very likely that both monsters will be in it. I'd imagine that it will likely see Godzilla and Kong teaming up to take down some third party kaiju, like GvK's third act, since I can't possibly imagine any reason to pit them against one another again.

If Kong had a son and Godzilla and the son start fighting that's a pretty good reason. It might be an origin story, so it could be a different Kong and Godzilla fighting.

Given that working title, a prequel is a possibility. Or a lot of it might be told in flashback.

Honestly, the "hollow earth/Kong is from middle-earth" aspect of GvK was my least favorite part of the movie. I like these creatures as allegory for "Man's hubris/Nature's wrath". The idea that Godzilla was once worshipped by an Atlantis culture is very cool, but the Kong backstory that was eluded to might be a bridge too far. I don't think we need to go "Full Tolkien".

Watching Godzilla vs Gigan tonight. Not one of the better ones but still fun.

@christophero30 i haven't seen vs Gigan and most of the later half of Showa era in just about a decade and don't remember much about it except it's the first time Godzilla bleeds.

Also found this the other day. Horrific and hilarious. I would totally watch a version where Godzilla is replaced with this

Yeah, more Middle-Earth Kong is what I was expecting. Hopefully this idea grows on me.

Clever Hollow Earth nod with that ,,above" trick.

Me too. I love Cookiezilla with his Grovertail. Nice to see him finally out in the open.

The Hollow Earth stuff was silly. I'd rather see Kong throw down like Skull Island.

Yes. And this was in a movie with a giant ape fighting a giant, fire-breathing lizard, and a giant robot version of the giant fire-breathing lizard. So, that says something.

I also didn't like Kong wielding an axe like a person.

I tolerated that, because otherwise he had no real chance in that fight. They need some kind of counter for the atomic breath. I didn't love it, but I understood why it was there.

I agree they had to do that, as Godzilla is too powerful to get his jaws torn apart like a T Rex. But it was still dumb. Hard to imagine the 33 Kong using an axe.

Kong Skull Island was very good. Godzilla vs. Kong was okay.

I love Godzilla 2014, and Godzilla: KOTM. And I really like Kong: SI, and Godzilla vs. Kong.

Overall I've been really happy with the Monsterverse.

I like them okay. I'm not really a fan of Godzilla's new design. He doesn't have much personality. He just looks like a blue gator. I love the old Godzilla films.
