LUKE: One shall stand, and one shall fall!
SNOKE: Why do you throw your life away so recklessly, Jedi?
LUKE: That's a question you should be asking yourself, Snoke.

Come to think about it, that verbal exchange might actually work, especially if we're hearing the opening cues of Duel of the Fates while they're saying it.

Well, if it's true, I'm glad that they dumped the Snoke as Force ghost idea. Canon makes it clear that one can only become a Force ghost by becoming fully selfless. That's a special Jedi power. Obi-wan describes becoming a Force ghost as something "more powerful than you can imagine." Yoda learns the power to become a Force ghost from Qui-Gon. The Yoda arc establishes that only those who are purely selfless can become Force ghosts and the Sith (and presumably dark-siders) simple cease to exist upon death. They don't become one with the Force. Making Snoke a Force ghost would take a dump on both the OT, PT, and the Clone Wars.

Not gonna lie...even if it isn't true, I would've liked if this new trilogy would have different shades of grey instead of "black & white good vs. evil." Granted, that might confuse the kids...and it's hard to make something sound good coming from the "dark" side.

Jurassic World made $220 million in China. Disney would change a character in a heartbeat to preserve $1 in box office.

Wast the sequel trilogy supposed to be more shades of Grey then black and white good and evil? Like the conflict inside Kylo.

I think if Leia had the super weapon they could explore this idea more.
All we got was a new hope retread.

[quote="And Anakin's Force ghost is rumoured to be in VIII.[/quote]

Good! It will be interesting to see who they cast, Hayden or someone else, to retro Sebastian Shaw... I don't care either way, just make it consistent. If you leave the revised ending with Hayden in ROTJ, then bring him on for VIII, if you use someone else, put him in the end of ROTJ...

Also - yeah you wanna change certain things for a certain market? Fine, but leave it to that market and only that market. Rey's vision was one of my favorite parts of the film, but I'm still holding out hope we actually SEE Yoda/Obi-Wan/Anakin and heck even Qui-Gon... IMHO there wasn't enough references to the PT in TFA. I know it's only the first movie, and i'm not heartbroken... I just think the PT wasn't ALL bad... and it's part of the galactic history and worth mentioning...

    ok end useless rant.

I have to say, the shampoo commercial comment made me legit snort beer out of my nose laughing!

I WILL say I did hear both rumors last year as well :

    - The Resistance had a superweapon called the Sledgehammer that basically smashed into things and destroyed them, and that Han and Luke had serious issues with the "good guys" building a superweapon that would destroy anything in it's path on par with the Empire's old machinations.

    - That the main Vader-obsessed baddie would have a Master who was a Force Ghost. Course the rumors at that time were it was Sidious' ghost.

aha come on, this is a film series for all ages, including mostly kids and disney are at the helm. there is 0 chance of any moral ambiguity in it. disney don't do "grey".

Do you know if they changed the backstory in regards the vision, and possibly Rey's identity as well?

I get the feeling she was at one point a Solo and they changed this, and I also think the flashback and saber stuff was changed significantly, possibly even in the edit. Thoughts?

@Satipo You know it still works if Han recognises her or understands who she *could* be. She doesn't have to be a Solo, she could be a skywalker who has been hidden. I mean in that case why is THE Falcon on the same planet as Rey? and why did han and Chewie find it instantly when it left Jakku? I mean yeah it could be a coincidence but authors don't do that to such an extent that it's that noticeable.

Was there anymore to the staff? I mean I thought that would be bigger.

This is awesome and looks like half of a Death Star. I'd have much preferred this...The Resistance has the super weapon and the FO Starkiller is simply their base where they are churning out stormtroopers and Star Destroyers and their big "weapon" is a computer that is calculating and searching for Skywalker (that's the time running out aspect)... The dilemma is that using the Warhammer to penetrate the shield will likely destroy the planet, and there are some native inhabitants (like one outpost of natives the FO uses as slave labor). Could have been awesome to see Leia making that choice. So the end battle is to destroy the base (Han and Finn) and also extract the natives before the planet blows up (Poe). Would have been more unique!

In terms of the vision/flashback that whole sequence certainly FELT like it was editing/changed in editing. Could be wrong. Did we ever get confirmation that Ford and the rest filmed the "seance" version where they all sit around and Maz induces the vision? Or was that in the script but never shot? Maybe changed when Ford had his injury? IDK...

It's certainly very interesting moral ground, the idea of the Resistance creating their own equivalent to a Death Star. Might have been a neat twist to thit series.... How much can you take before you become the very thing you're fighting against? The only qualm I have is that I think it makes the least since for Leia, whose home planet and family were destroyed before her eyes, to be the one of the Big 3 that is supporting/facilitating the weapons existence, while the others are against it. If anything it would be reversed. If it were, maybe that's what it would take for Leia to finally stop fighting for freedom and give up her life-long commitment to the rebel cause and by association, leave Luke and Han on their own.

Only in as much as the Resistance had the "catapult" which could go through Star Destroyers. The idea that it could go through a planet is not a twist we heard about but it does tie into other rumors of another superweapon Leia had.

As above that might be closer to the final idea not used. Certainly based on the mostly correct plot synopsis it seems there was going to be a larger space battle as well as the X-Wings and TIES above the trench.

Possibly in the end they decided to save it for one of the next 2 installments.

That's actually not a bad ending. I love the ending we got but that's a pretty cool idea. I don't know exactly about the supercomputer searching for Luke though. I guess…maybe?

Having both the Resistance and the First Order in possession of planet destroying weapons, would either lead to a stalemate, or the loss of any moral superiority for the Resistance and the Republic which supports them.
