Thirty Years Later....(AU) (GENERAL SW SAGA SPOILERS!)

A long time ago ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away....

Luke Skywalker is missing.

Leia Organa sends her most daring pilot to Lor San Tekka, an OLD ALLY, to find a clue to his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, a SPY in the ranks of the FIRST ORDER has leaked a disturbing truth:

Somehow Palpatine returned.

But Luke is not lost only to the RESISTANCE. He has found a portal to a Galaxy Far Far Away.

Now on Gaia, or Earth, in our galaxy, he must learn to adapt to our ways.

But Palpatine is missing too..........

In Congress Assembled, we give absolute rule to Sheev Palpatine, to be our benevolent overlord, to be our Lord protector and magistrate. To be our Guide in our present world crises. Entered into official World records this day, June 10, 2027 CE.

Palpatine sat at his ornate carved desk, shufling papers and monitoring his six screens and personal tablet and smartphone.

His apprentice, Darth Limerick, had just walked out of his office with a new assignment: Find and assassinate all dissenters, in secret.

No open executions, for that wouldn't reflect good on Palpatine.

He was then called to the Situation room, where he was presented with Options for five different world crises. He naturally chose the worst possible option for each crisis, but wrapped his reasoning up in such justifiable language so as to passify World congress into ratification of each choice.
He was liking this new world where space travel was new and technology primitive. He liked the power and control, but wanted....more.

There was something niggling at the back of his mind.

What was it?



Rey Palpatine (though at this time not knowing her heritage) had gone to Ahch-To seeking Luke. She searched the entire island with Chewie and delighted in the little Porgs and Porglings, and Caretakers of the island. She didn't understand their language and neither did Chewie. Then she saw it. A portal. Dare she enter? It called to her. Firmly gripping Luke's and Anakin's lightsaber, she stepped in.

 

Artoo had followed Rey through the portal.

It hadn't taken Rey long to find out that he name of this place in the local vernacular was called 'Nanjing, China' and that she now faced the Confucius Temple in the Qinhuai River Scenic Area. She assumed China was the name of this planet. She saw banners with pictures of Emperor Palpatine. By learning a little of the local dialect she ascertained that he was considered their Lord Protector. Knowing what she knew about the old Sith Lord, she was more than a little put off by that fact.

She admired the trees in their concrete boxes and wondered if she could work for some of the local food. So many people, all human, and no droids, save for Artoo, who followed closely at her heels. She wondered if she'd find Luke in the temple but she had a bad feeling about this particular temple yet went inside.

She asked around in the local dialect. Yes, a man fitting that description had once entered here, not liked it, and walked out, saying he would go find the nearest underground Christian church.

She had a good feeling at the word 'Christian church'.

A few hours later she found herself washing dishes and mopping floors at a local restaurant for money. At the end of the workday she got to eat. The food was delicious.

The next Day a fellow employee led her to the local Three-Self church. She did not find the experience enlightening. A person in the congregation noticed her discomfort and led her to an Underground church saying she was there to lead people to the light.

She kept attending week after week hoping to see Luke and really finding the services enjoyable.

She continued to work at the restaurant. Artoo had become a local curiosity.

Children and adults alike loved him.

She slept at the house of the Underground church member and her mother, where she paid nominal room and board.

 

One Day, Luke came to the church.

She didn't recognize him at first. He was clean-shaven. The physical description she'd been given was bearded and heavyset but he had lost a lot of weight.

He saw Artoo first and greeted him warmly.

Artoo chortled.

Luke said " Hey, language, we're in a sacred church"

They were very happy to see each other.

Then he said "Rey".

"How do you know me?"

My sister and I know exactly who you are. You need training. I used to believe that the Jedi needed to end, that the Force couldn't be claimed by them or by anyone, but I could never believe it now. Only together can we conquer Lord Palpatine and his new Apprentice. But there's something you must know. Palpatine had your parents killed trying to get to you. You are his granddaughter."

She was taken aback not accepting it at first, but then it sunk in.

"And that is why we must defeat him," she said, doubt replaced now with resolve.

 

Ooh, cool stuff! I like the idea of Palps and Luke both being in the same faraway time and place. Rey is too. Will they return to their own timeline? Palpatine is going to make a real mess of things.

 

Later, at Luke's luxurious house, Luke showed Rey, in the courtyard, as his servant brought them a tray of what Luke called 'lemonade', on a datapad that Luke called an 'Android Tablet', that the whole world was much bigger and culturally diverse than this local area or 'country' called China. On some computer program called 'YouTube' and on another computer program called 'Google Earth' Luke spent hours showing her and teaching her many things, including the fact that people in this world knew all about a cultural phenomenon, especially in America, called 'The Star Wars' and on Disney +, showed her some Episodes from a wide range of Star Wars shows movies and specials, and played part of the playlist 'Best of Star Wars' for them on Spotify as he led her in Jedi Meditation techniques, then saber practice.

At night she left to go sleep at the Underground church sister's place, but was back at Luke's the next Day and he cooked them a good lunch. Then they trained until she had to leave for work.

This routine of church on Sundays, breakfast at the house she slept at, Lunch and training at Luke's, and work after training to earn her monetary wages, continued for many months. Luke also taught her about things he had learned about God and His kingdom from things he and they saw on YouTube and from a website with three books of Scripture on it, called Restoration Branches Movement and other sect he had heard about called Restructured, based in South America (Brazil) and in America (Missouri). These things they studied together in a group with other underground church members in addition to Rey's and Luke's Jedi training.

One Day, Rey beat Luke in a saber spar.

"I think you're ready to face Palpatine," Luke said, "or almost".

"What remains."

"He doesn't live anywhere near China," Luke said.

"Where does he operate from?"

"That....I'm still trying to figure out. I have been tracking the movements of his apprentice Darth Limerick, but he covers his tracks well.
I plan on tracing Sidious's apprentice back to him, but like I said it's difficult. But we need to do a fair amount of travelling now. You'll have to quit your job."

"Where are we going?"

"France"

"You've never showed me this 'France'. Is it far?"

"Yes, quite far."

"How do we get there?"

"We get to do something fun- fly in an aeroplane-charter."

"What's that?"


Five days later Luke and Rey boarded a three-man charter plane leaving China for Europe, each contributing to the price of their ticket.

They were headed for London. Rey did not know how this 'London' would be, but she found flying through the icy air in an open cockpit, doing barrel rolls and loop-de-loos for fun, a blast. The flight took hours.

When they landed she was certain they must have gone through another portal or two for this seemed like another world, but she remembered Luke had taught her that this earth they were on had many different environs and cultures. Every building and causeway and river seemed chiseled in stone. Everything seemed grey, yet this city of London seemed alive. It was altogether other from China. The people, all human, spoke a different language - and it seemed to be a different version of her own native Basic. When they got to Customs, the officials looked up, took one look at them, and just waved them through. R2, who had flown alongside the plane on his retro rockets, was all the 'passport and Visa and papers' they needed. The officials just shook their heads in amazement and disbelief. The food at a local diner, after they had exchanged their currency for pounds, left a lot to be desired. This was not very good food. Later they visited the outside of Buckingham Palace and witnessed the changing of the guard. It was a sight to behold.
They went to a moviehouse and saw the latest Transformers Movie, and then went to an opera.

They found a place and paid room and board at a rooming house, staying in separate rooms, and found an old Fencing place to train and meditate in. Meanwhile in Luke's room, alone, he monitored communications for movements of John Gifberry, also known as Darth Limerick. He knew he was close. But John found Rey first. For he had heard rumors of Luke Skywalker and Rey come to London. And he reported this to his master.

Rey was looking for a job at a moviehouse, possibly as a concession stand worker, when, she found herself in an alley. She sensed something behind her, and the presence of the Dark Side. She activated her saber and spun behind her, and it clashed with the red blade of a dark cloaked figure whose face was obscured by a large hood. He reversed his thrust, attempting to confuse her, but she was ready and met his blow with a defense, followed by three offensive blows, which took him slightly aback, but he met. Then she ran. He pursued. He took a Force leap up in the air and landed right in front of her and thrust at the same time with his saber, attempting to impale her in a vital place. But she dodged this. Then she Force-zipped the other way, out of the alleyway, into the open, and lost herself in the crowd. Unbeknownst to Limerick, she had placed a small tracker on the underside of the back, in the folds of John's hood. John immediately reported to Sidious that she had escaped, but he was in pursuit of her, from a distance.

"Stop following her, and come to me. She is trying to lead you to her Master. You are not ready to deal with him yet," Palpatine said.

"Yes, my Master."

"They, her and her Master, will follow you to me. Before we can deal with them together, training I have for you."

"Understood, my Master"

"I thought he was in France!" Rey said (she had done some research about the language and culture of France and it's distance from London)
"He finished his mission there and came here," Luke said.

They were training in the Fencing Hall.

"I think Palpatine knows about the tracker and wants us to come to him," Luke continued.

"Should we?"

"We need to bide our time"

"I thought you said I was ready to face Palpatine."

"I was wrong. We both need to train, meditate and think and plan more about this."

Artoo beeped.

"Yes Artoo, I've figured out a way to charge you."

He left for about a half hour and came back with a power adapter cobbled together out of spare electrical components adapted to R2's capacity.

That night, as Rey slept, she had a dream that she and Luke were in an all-out battle with Limerick as Palpatine just watched. Meanwhile, Limerick was luring Rey closer and closer to the Dark Side.

The next Day, after selling concessions at the moviehouse, then sweeping the sticky theatre room floors, then at the abandoned Fencing Hall, she told Luke of her dream.

"Then I had better tell you of my experiences, and how I overcame the Darkness." He said. "Maybe it might help you."

And will they meet the presidents of some of the big states and deal with them?
Or is Palpatine dealing with all?

Remember the leaders themselves are duped. They are not at fault.
WarmNyota_SweetAyesha: Thanks, expect to see much more fan wish-fulfillment and 'jangling keys' and fanservice throughout the rest of this story. I'm both writing a story I would very much like to read, a story I would very much like to exist (the story, not the things that happen in the story), and a story that others would very much like to read.
Anyway, back to story: (While Revenge of the Sith plays in the background, a licensed copy I bought....)
Note: There may be some very surprising twists in this story......

No one knew that she was formerly Dutchess Satine of Mandalore, nor that she worked with the former Queen and Senator of Naboo, whom nobody knew as Padme Amidala, just someone whom resembled Kiara Knightly and Natalie Portman, tirelessly in the World Senate to halt funding for Palpatine's war machine, and to give impassioned speeches to vote down measures that made this free world less and less free. She and Padme were roommates in a luxurious villa in Normandy, France, Palpatine's chosen base of operations. She knew her former lover, Obi-Wan Kenobi, had also come through a portal to this strange new world, and that Anakin Skywalker, once Vader, now redeemed by his son in the GFFA, was somewhere on this planet too. Padme scoured the Internet for leads, searching for her husband while Satine pledged to marry Kenobi someday, hopefully soon. She too, searched and searched. The reason she and Padme knew of the presence of the two men on this earth was that each respectively could sense their mate.

Somewhere on a park bench in Japan, sat Wicket A. Warwick, a fairly intelligent and sentient Ewok who had a rudimentary knowledge of Basic but knew not Japanese. People gave him funny stares. He knew how to operate man's machinery, having been taught on Endor in GFFA. A little girl sat beside him on the bench. He wondered if she could teach him her language.

Leia Organa, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger and Ahsoka Tano were in a motorboat going across the English Channel. Ahsoka sensed the presence of Jedi nearby. She knew she and her companions, whom had started out half a world away from each other before finding each other, needed to find and seek out these Jedi. And she also knew they were the key to stopping Palpatine. Leia had found a portal to the GFFA when she was training with Luke, shortly after she had stopped her training when she sensed darkness in her son. She sensed Han was somewhere on this planet, but she had not been able to locate him yet.

 

This is fun!

 

All those beings and humans on earth. And no earth resident making comments about them?

 

earlybird-obi-wan: No one notices because people cosplay Ahsoka all the time, and the Ewok could easily be a small person or child in a suit, and the rest could literally be anybody who just happen to resemble famous actors. The more people I see the more I see that God seemed to use the same pattern for multiple people. How many times have you stopped someone at a restaurant or store and said "Hey are you-you look just like- oh never mind you're someone else."

People take way less notice of odd and unique happenings than you'd think. Truth is stranger than fiction. And by now everyone knows who Palpatine is....a man who resembles Ian McDiarmid who happens to be named Palpatine who has demonstrated remarkable skills at politics and world leadership. Most view him as a kindly old benevolent World President, not even close to a dictator. You'll see........

It was Midnight. Mara Jade Skywalker couldn't sleep. She had just watched The Last Jedi and had seen her husband, in an alternate timeline, called 'canon' die alone on a remote island, without her. In fact she was pretty sure that this Luke had never even met her. But she remembered him. Before she had gone through that portal that had appeared as she lay sick aboard her ship the Jade Shadow, she had never dreamed of ever being without him. When she emerged onto this planet earth, she was one hundred per cent well, totally healed. She sensed Luke, but she also sensed that it was the Luke from this movie, and that he did not sense her in return. She heard rumors of Luke in London. She read an article on the London Times website of a strange customs incident with an all too familiar robot. Now she was on board a freighter crossing the ocean to get to him. She knew he would not recognize her, but she had hours to prepare words that would convince him that she knew him well. She was confident she could make it work out.

Rey and Luke sparred furiously on the floor of the Fencing Hall. Luke was putting her through the wringer, intensifying training. Although she had bested him in single combat before, Luke had trained by himself to be able to train her better. He knew she needed it. As they trained, Luke was thinking about the dream Rey had had. He thought if only there were another factor in the fight, perhaps some wildcard combatants, not just Palpatine, Limerick, Luke and Rey, but what if there were others too? This could turn the tide. He prayed for it, but it couldn't be new Jedi pulled from this earth. It would have to be experienced ones. How could he find those? Could he go back through the portal and have Chewie fly the Falcon in search of seasoned Jedi, then bring them all the way back to London, England, in Great Britain? He would consider that option, but it would take time. There was plenty of that.
