Those Who No Longer Exist. Phase II

    Phase II

    Ba'slan shev'la

The news spread across the galaxy like wildfire, and many of the Mandalorians recalled to their clan and House strongholds heard it even before they arrived. The Clan Wars were over and the Clans had surrendered. It wasn't couched in those terms of course, not among the warrior caste anyway. No for reasons of honor it was thought of as yet another cease fire in a long history of cease fires among the Mandalorian clans. This time though was different, this time a new philosophy had taken root on Mandalore and now controlled it and the sector. A pacifist movement designed to strip away the old ways of infighting and blood feuds. The old ways would be forgotten, the armor put away. Now was a time for a new way, a new future, a New Mandalorian future.

Duchess Satine Kryze struck quickly at the very roots of the old warrior ways, forbidding the wearing of beskar'gam on the homeworld and exiling those warriors who refused to obey to distant outlying worlds. Out on frontier worlds like Concord Dawn and Krownest not much changed, though the warrior clans there were seen as defeated, old news soon to one day be forgotten. Closer to home, on Mandalore's moon of Concordia, the warrior ways were kept alive in secret. The New Mandalorian movement might be ascendant now, but to many warriors it was just another ruling class that would one day be overthrown. For a world trying to be at peace with itself for the first time in generations the New Mandalorians seemed to be sent from the manda itself. To those still clinging to their the warrior ways, it was just something to be waited out, as they gathered their strength once more. It was a time of ba'slan shev'la, the strategic disappearance.

The Death Watch licked their wounds. For all intents and purposes it had been disbanded with the end of the war. In reality Pre Vizsla was slowly rebuilding it's fractured regime under his control. An effort that would take over a decade. In the meantime, those of House Vizsla that wished to retain their warrior ways were cast out into the wilderness. With the wars over the mercenary and bounty hunting markets were soon filled with a glut of out of work soldiers, the situation made all the more difficult with the lack of actual work to be found. For dishonored warriors work became nearly impossible to find.

Among the True Mandalorian remnants the situation was worse. Leaderless and scattered by the Death Watch, they had been irrelevant by the New Mandalorians. For both factions a sense of foreboding set in. How could they be warriors if there was no one to fight? Yet they dare not cross the New Mandalorians who held on to the seat of power with an iron fist concealed within their velvet glove. Likewise to attack another warrior clan would bring about the wrath of the New Mandalorian government who enforced the cease fire while attacking the aruetiise (foreigners) was a non starter for reasons of practicality (for the Death Watch) and honor (for the True Mandalorians). Slowly, as the months wore on, several clan members slipped away, making their way to Mandalore to take part in the New Mandalorian vision for themselves. They left their armor, their clan, and their warrior spirit behind.

Things were little better on Concord Dawn, where a force of Protectors was raised to police the system. These still wore the armor of old, but clan affiliations were sacrificed in order to appease the hearth world's government. For some the Protectors seemed like a dream come to life. A place where one could remain a warrior while leaving the politics of clan life behind. For many others though it was not near enough, without clan, without family, there was no honor, and without honor, there was no sense of being mando'ade. So for many Mandalorians, there was no place they could call home aside from the dirt between their own two feet. Together, but not together, these warriors all conducted their own personal ba'slan shev'la. With money scarce, and jobs even harder to come by, they waited. Waited for their next hot meal. Waited for their next job. Waited for a time when a warrior could be a warrior. Most of all they waited for fate to intervene, and soon it would and though they didn't know it, the ba'slan shev'la would soon give rise to the cin vhetin, and the arrival of the Mandalorian in Black...

Welcome to the (soft) reboot of Those Who No Longer Exist: A Mandalorian RPG. Our game is set prior to TCW (roughly 31 BBY), and will incorporate as much as we can of Legends material into the NuCanon universe. It will be centered on the efforts of several warriors as they fight against the forces of the galaxy at large, and potentially each other, to maintain their honor, their relevance, their very lives in a galaxy that seems to have left their ways behind. In these dark and seemingly honorless days, do you have what it takes to bring glory to your clan?

This game will resume in a place roughly where the previous left off, but with a (mostly) new cast of characters. However aside from the general setting of the game, the adventures of the previous characters will have little bearing on us going forward. If you're a returning Player from the previous game you may rejoin with your previous character (please resend me the character sheet for re approval) or create an entirely new character for yourself. if you any questions, please do not hesitate to ask either in the SWC or EUC Mandalorian fanclubs (links will be provided in the rules section) or ask me directly via PM.

    The Rules.

    1) Please follow the RPF Rules and be mindful of the Terms of Service and Rules of the Jedi Council Forums.

    2) No God modding or autohitting.

    3) Game Master's word is law.

    4) All character sheets must be PMed (Private Message) to the GM (Bardan_Jusik) for approval. I'm just accepting Mandalorian characters for this game. No Jedi/Sith or any other force wielders need apply. Also no canon (or Legends) characters please. Some of these may appear in game as NPCs later on to move the story forward and I want to keep them available for that purpose.

    5) This game is the official RPG of the SWC and EUC's Mandalorian Fanclubs, Honor Points there will be awarded for playing and for worthy contributions to the game. However, fanclub membership is not a prerequisite for playing. Still players should be aware that Out-of-Game and/or Out-of-Character discussions and questions regarding the game may be discussed in either fanclub. A separate Resource Thread will be set up in the Role Playing Resource Forum to act as our library thread prior to the game getting underway.

    6) Posting expectations: Barring unforeseen circumstances all tags should be replied to within a week (7 days). I plan on GM updates for the game on a weekly basis. Real life always takes precedence over online happy online fun pretendy time though, so if something comes up and you're able, let the GM and other players know that you'll be absent (I know sometimes even that isn't possible though). If you miss any tags, I will continue to tag you and your character for the duration of your character's current assignment, afterwards your character will either be quietly dropped from the game or killed in an honorable fashion.

    7) All major storylines (a storyline that affects the game as a whole) must have prior approval by the GM via PM. If you have an idea, please PM it to me and we'll work together to flesh it out and get it into the game. I enjoy getting news ideas to add to the fabric we're weaving, so if you have them, send them.

    8) Have fun vode!

    Biography:

---Personal History: Born in 50 BBY Beskaryc was well along his way down the traditional path to becoming Mandalorian warrior. However when he was only 6 years old his father was killed at the Battle of Galidraan. Deprived of the traditional father/son training that was to begin at age eight, Beskaryc saw his training conducted by numerous other family members and other True Mandalorian sympathizers, though it was his own mother that took on most of the burden of his training. In the end it mattered little as he achieved adulthood as most other Mandalorians did during his 13th year when he passed the verd'goten. Though the Taab clan is one of little repute, his wife Ruusaan married into the clan two years later. His disdain for politics has seen him eschew the clan rivalries and internecine warfare that wrack Mandalore, though he still follows his uncle who heads clan Taab which maintains it's old loyalties to House Mereel. Secretly he yearns to leave his clan behind and join the Mandalorian Protectors. He would see such an invitation as a great honor and hopes his skills will be noticed by them one day.

---Military History: Following his passing of the verd'goten Taab found work where he could, primarily as an enforcer for the Banking Clans. Though Taab hated the job, he went on to establish himself as an effective collector of outstanding debts for the group. His duties also saw him putting down Union riots by various the guilds and tracking down and eliminating those who would steal from the Banking Clans. As soon as he had established enough of a reputation, and earned enough credits to eat regularly, he began to take on straight up mercenary work. He preferred this "real soldiering" to bounty hunting or clubbing civilians and as such reveled in finding actual combat assignments as opposed to anything requiring detective work, tracking down fleeing felons or simple thuggery. His work kept him on the periphery of the Clan Wars and as they drew to a close Taab considered himself lucky to be working on a short term mercenary contract supplementing their local militia.on Agamar It was that assignment that brought him to the attention of the Mandalorian in Black, and his current job on Kurasawa...
