Just got the VOTC Luke Skywalker... all I have to say is that this is the COOLEST line of figures hasbro has EVER released! well, in my opinion. I give the whole collection a solid 10 out of 10, for sculpt and packaging. By far they are my favorite figures Hasbro has produced, well, other than the original vintage figures. I love it when Hasbro releases figures that are completely geared towards collectors! dont even THINK of taking these out of the package...

    OTC Yoda "Dagobah"

I love this figure. The base is an excellent addition with this figure. As for Yoda, he looks great, his robes, face, hands and cane are all very nice.
Im such a big fan of the OTC packaging so the packaging is a 10/10.
    As a whole i'd give it a 9.5/10

Another Yoda review! (Hey, he's Yoda. He
    deserves the reviews!)

Well, he's little, green and bald. Not much you
can really do with that. I really think they should
charge a dollar less for Yoda, I mean come on!
    Anyway...

The first thing I noticed is the face. It looks more
like the PM face than the ESB face. It's a bit too
narrow and the eyes aren't quite right. The paint
detail is pretty good and I guess he's about as
articulated as he needs to be. Don't get me wrong,
he's not a bad figure, but I just don't think he
    quite captures Yoda circa ESB.

    Rating: 8/10

R2-D2: This on the other hand captures the subject
perfectly. He is of course a rehashed body with a
new paint job, but what a paint job. It really
does look like mud. This is my favorite R2 ever.
A must for any Dagobah diorama.

    Rating: 9/10

Reviewing a couple figures from the Bespin wave:

    Leia

Why can't Hasbro get female figures right? First off, the scale is all wrong. The face looks nothing like Carrie Fischer and the articulation is very limited. This is really a shame, since the Bespin gown is my favorite Leia outift. She comes with the standard repacked 50 billion times imperial blaster, only this time it's painted silver. I was really looking foward to this figure but I'm really dissapointed. The dress looks nice, but that's really the only nice thing about this figure.
    4/10

    Lobot

Now this is nice. A huge improvement over the disco dancing POTF2 version. The likeness in very nice and the articulation is satisfying. I'm not quite sure what the heck that little stick thing he has is, but it fits in his hand well. I can't say the same for the laptop. I want to know why Hasbro has the tendancy to give figures accesories that don't fit in their hands. I makes no sense to me. The computer implant thingy on his head can be removed for some odd reason. It's not really necessary, but it's a nice little touch. Over all I'm very satisfied with this figure. If he had been able to hold the computer properly he probably would have scored another point.

VOTC LUKE: The pictures that I had seen of this
figure were quite dissapointing. I though he
looked like an old Chuck Norris Karate Commando
figure. As a Luke fanatic, I was dissapointed to
say the least. I am happy to say that I was wrong.
First, the tunic is not neatly as bulky as the photos
suggest. It's much better, than say, Obi-Wan's cloak.
And the face, it looks ten times better in person.
What a relief! And that card front, ahhhhhhh, the
    good 'ol days!

    Luke Skywalker Unleashed

Originally, I had no plans to purchase this figure. And now that I have him, I can't think of a reason in the world why I wouldn't have.

Hasbro did an incredible job with this statue. It's not something that you can have setup somewhere (your collection, room, office) that will go unnoticed. This thing screams "Look at me!" with its vibrant green lightsaber effect and "flying" Luke. Yes, Luke really does look like he's flying through the air on the offensive. This is simply impressive.

Luke's likeness is good... exaggerated, yes, but that's what the Unleashed line is all about. His hair is flowing, and was painted in the ideal colors. The moles or warts on his face (or whatever those are) are true to the anatomy of Mark Hamil. It's good to see Hasbro giving such detail to something like this. Always a good sign. Luke's outfit is just what it should be... it's shiny, has the right amount of creases and wrinkles, and definitely fits in with the given "unleashed" situation. His boots were well-sculpted.

Luke's lightsaber was done well, and it cannot be detatched from the lightsaber effect, which comes in two pieces. This effect was molded in just the right color, and it's translucent, which make it all the more realistic. The base is perfect. It's all we need. Luke fits right in, and then when the lightsaber effect is attatched, you truly have a sight to behold.

Luke Skywalker Unleashed from RotJ is spectacular. He's flawless, and as such, there's much to love. I can't see my collection without such an exquisite piece, and now that he's in there, he truly adds some variety and flavor that only spice everything up.

If you buy one Unleashed figure in your lifetime, get Boba Fett. If you buy two, get Luke Skywalker.

    10/10

    Vintage Original Trilogy Luke Skywalker

    My first VOTC figure.

I picked this one up Friday, and I must say, it is nothing like the pictures I've seen floating around on-line. I thought this figure was going to be sub-par, and I was very wrong.

    Package
Vintage! Ah, the good old days when the package had a nice picture of the character right there next to the final product. It was always something I enjoyed. They nailed the vintage look, and the extra shell and nice silver OTC logo is a nice addition. I'm impressed. The back is a nice tribute, and has the Star Wars logo nicely made into the shell.

    sculpt
    This is Mark alright.

    price
The one area they didn't mirror the vintage feeling with. $10 compared to $1.96 While this is a lot for a single figure, the sculpt and likeness alone make it worth it. From what I've seen of this line, I'm impressed.

Went to Wal-Mart, the store that's constantly being put down, and actually had a good night. They had a good selection of OTC stuff.

    OTC Bossk

I like this figure alot. His jumpsuit and facial features are definitely close to what he looked like in ESB. His huge assault rifle also fits neatly in his 3-fingered hands. The only thing I dislike is that I feel if I were to take him outta the bubble he wouldn't quite stand up straight. (If anyone has confirmaion of this comment)
    Overall-9 outta 10

    OTC Ben Kenobi

Another good looking figure. He's robeless, which is cool. His resemblance isn't bad, either. He has a kinda boring posture, though. But what's bothering me is that he has 2 lightsabers. He's holding one and the other, I guess, is removable from his belt. But who's saber could that be? It could just be Anakin's, but in ANH he clearly kept it in his hut in that locked case thing. ?
    Overall-8.5 outta 10

    Leia Unleashed:

Ok, first the artwork on the package. Wow. Seeing
it made me think of things you're not supposed to
be thinking in the toy aisle (Unless your name
    is Michael Jackson).

The figure is of course a repack, and I think it
is in a smaller scale than the newer figs. No
matter because it looks great. My one complaint
is that Leia isn't what I'd call "Unleashed".
    She's more like "Un-interested" (a look I am
very accustomed to seeing from Women ;) ) Still,
a nice one to have until the next Leia. Might I
suggest instead of Leia Unleashed, they try Leia
    Undre... ah never mind!

I finally got to get my hands on my first VOTC figure and boy am I impressed. She is completely awesome. Love the sculpt, love the face, even the material around her waist looks good.
The VOTC is better than I could have imagined.
As for the packaging its simply outstanding. It does look quiet big next to my POTJ line which is where i'll be hanging them.
    I love the plastic casing.
I simply cant stop looking at this figure.

The new OTC Dagobah Luke looks awesome, although I would only buy a Luke action figure if I was absolutly sure that it would be worth it. Does someone own this particular figure? If so, could you give me a good rating to go by? I might include Im not a particularaly big fan of Luke, so keep that in mind. As always, thanks guys.

your wish is my command, DrunkenJawas. i have the Dagobah Luke right here in front of me. for now, i'm keeping him on the card. also, i've got the standing up version. the other version has him standing on his hands, but both come with the same interchangeable arms and head.

    pacakaging: 10/10, of course...OTC rocks!

likeness: 8/10. the face just doesn't do it for me like it could. it's not quite mark hamill. but it's damn good. and it really captures the spirit. plus, i'm only reviewing the "backpacking" head. the "handstand" head is still in the package out of my view. i don't know...if you catch me in the right mood i might bump this up to 8.5/10 or more.

overall: i'll cut to the chase. i give this a 9/10 overall, and i feel like i'm being extra harsh. if i took this out of the package and paired it up with the yoda figure that fits on his back, i think i would start having serious 1980 flashbacks and possibly need hospitalization.

this is, of course, all just my opinion. anyway, i have to say THIS ACTION FIGURE RULES!!! BUY AS MANY AS YOU CAN NOW!!![face_dancing] but seriously, it's a good one. the only drawback i can see is that the arms are very posed.

Thx alot. Im still laughing about the 1980 flashback/ hospital thing. Alot of these Luke figures are being produced, so I figured they must suck, as Hasbro has a habit of mass producing crap, while leaving the best of them behind.

    VOTC Han Solo

In an attempt to present the bestest Han Solo figure ever, Hasbro succeeds. :)

Han's likeness is closer to his appearance in the movie than we've ever seen. It really looks like Harrison Ford. The outfit is styled perfectly, and the colors used for the outfit are exactly what they should be. His holster is neat because it is a separate piece, though you can't take it off. The only problem I have with his likeness are at the side of his head. Because of the ball-jointed head, his jawline looks odd, and his hair is a little too short at the back. His vest was done well, as it is slid open at the front edges. He, like the other VOTC figures, seems a bit too thin. For a Han figure, he's too skinny. This prevents him from fitting in with other non-VOTC basic figures. Still, he looks better than previous Han Solo figures.

Ah, the articulation. What's better than having a main character with tons of articulation? He's got ball joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles. Then he has basic articulation at the wrists, waist, and hips. I've had a ball posing him in so many ways and having him aim his blaster in various ways. The blaster isn't anything new, but it serves its purpose.

Overall, this is an exquisite figure. He's simply awesome. Awesome! With all his wonderful articulation, you can do just about anything with him that he ever did in the movie. He isn't a perfect Han Solo figure, but he's the best we've ever been offered. If you get one VOTC figure from the ANH assortment to take out of the packaging, make it this one. You won't be sorry.

    9.5/10

I don't usually grade by .5s, but in this case I have to. I'm taking off for his odd head shape and his anorexic appeal. ;)

    Unleashed Luke ROTJ :D

FINALLY! Okay, I hafta say this figure took me about 10 minutes to fully take out of the package, but once I got him out he looked amazing. I love walking into the room and seeing his bright green saber slash. Nice set for him to stand on as well, and it really re-lives the moment when he's letting his anger out on his father as he chops off his hand during the duel.

    The "Dagobah" Assortment: Part 1

    Luke Skywalker

After eight years, Hasbro finally creates a new Dagobah training Luke Skywalker. The results? Awesome!

I've been anxious for Hasbro to put out a new Dagobah Luke, and it seems that the wait was well worth it. Not only is he five times better than his predecessor, but he is also better than most figures they put out there these days.

Luke's likeness isn't the absolute best likeness of Luke Skywalker/Mark Hamil. In fact, it doesn't even look much like him. You can see the emotion in both heads, as Luke seems both tired (regular head) and determined (upside down head). You can see what he's feeling, but... it still doesn't look like Luke. The body is really well done. Both sets of arms look great. His body was sculpted nicely, as was the outfit. Hasbro also used the right colors on his outfit. The muddy detail on this guy is very sweet. I'm rather impressed with how realistic it appears. I'm also pleased with the detail added to the palms of Luke's hands on the upside down arms. Incredible.

The cream of this figure is, of course, the interchangable heads and arms. This was a very nice touch, as it gives children and collectors more choices as to how they wish to pose him. He looks good almost any way you mix and match his body parts. He looks just as good standing upright as he does upside down. His head and arms come off pretty easily, so you don't have to worry about breaking your figure. When you connect Yoda to Luke's backpack and then place the backpack on Luke's back, you're in for a real treat.

Luke's harness is nice, though being a harness, there's really not a lot to it, especially since you have to get Yoda to get the whole backback. The base is very cool, and it works well. The only trouble I had was getting Luke's hands to fit in the handprints, but it's managable.

Overall, this is a must-have for all collectors of the basic line. Not only is it an awesome upgrade, but it is also good enough to stand on it's own, whether or not you have the accompanying three figures in this assortment (though you should get Yoda). If you're a carded collector, get one to open. You won't regret it at all... especially at the price of $5.

9.5/10 (Taking off .5 for the likeness, which despite, he's pretty much flawless)

    Yoda

It has been since the POTF2 Flashback days since we have had a basic OT Yoda. Having been that long, Hasbro does not have an excuse to give us a bad Yoda. And well, this one is perfect.

Yoda's likeness is what strikes me most about this figure. He looks just like Yoda. Sure, he's a little dark in the skin, as well as the outfit (presumably because he's muddy), but he still looks great. The hair may be a little too apparent, but it's nothing that detracts from what he should be. This figure was well crafted in terms of sculpture. He doesn't need any work in what's already been done to his likeness. Yoda's articulation is so great. Ball-jointed shoulders, articulated elbows and wrists... what more could you want in a basic Yoda?

Of course, what's neat about this figure is that he connects into Dagobah Luke's backpack, which you can place on Luke's back. He looks good in it. After looking at pictures online, I thought he might look a little goofy, but in fact, he looks really good. These two figures look very good together, and it's nice to finally have a figure that can actually do this.

Yoda's cane is what it should be, and I'm happy with it. He can hold it, unlike that horrid Emperor from last year (note to Hasbro: When you package a figure with a cane, be sure he can hold it. Thank you.) Yoda's base is just what he needs. It's very detailed, though it's painted in only one color. He fits into the peg, and that's all we can ask for, really.

Overall, get him. Get him! He's the best basic Yoda we've ever been offered, save for... the VOTC Yoda, who may surpass him in greatness. This is the Yoda that the children

I don't know what is. They're all Unleashed!

Well, as with most of these figures, the sculpt
itself is pretty right on. Nice details, good paint,
though I agree with those who say he looks a bit dark.
His hand/arm pose though is a bit funky. He kinda
looks like someone took a polaroid of him dancing at
a wedding in mid electric slide. "It's electric!
Funky, wunky, wunky!" All in all he, and the card look
pretty cool, though for those who keep them carded,
it stinks that he isn't holding his gaffi stick in

    OTC Boba 3 3/4

This is my first Boba figure since I bought the POTF2 one as a child.

I love this figure like it's my kid. There were 2 in stock at Wal-Mart, both had excellent figure quality inside the bubble, but one had many scratches along the card and bubble so I took the other.

Awesome OTC packaging. I like his paint job and sculpt and his rifle, and I'm glad they finally added a decent shoulder-cape thing to go along with him. His rifle also comes with a blast equippable for firing.

This figure is awesome and hard to find, except I dislike the fact that it's basically the same thing as the Pit of Carkoon Saga edition.

UNLEASHED BOSSK: I don't know who honked this lizard
off, but I feel sorry for them. So, why make a Bossk
unleashed? That's what many people have asked. After
all, he's just a Gecko in a dyed yellow X-Wing pilot
suit with elbows that are inexplicably 3/4 of the way
up his arms. True. But darn it if he doesn't look
cool. He's sorta got this squatting pose, like he's

but no complaints here. In fact, it makes me identify

LOL! i don't think alien bounty hunters have time to pick up metamucil at the local drugstore.

now that i've confessed my multiple VOTC purchases in another thread, i'll review a couple:

    VOTC Han Solo:

I don't think i can say anything better than what has already been said about this figure. it is simply the best representation of han solo that has ever been produced. it is so good that i feel stupid for purchasing all previous incarnations of our favorite space pirate. in the package, some have noticed that it can get an "E.T." appearance in the neck region. this is just a random thing due to the extreme poseability of his neck. out of the package, the neck joint is just one of many that add to the figure's dead-on reflection of a young, tall, lanky, shoot first ask questions later style of harrison ford. (don't take that the wrong way) this figure is perfect for posing in all the classic scenes from the original trilogy. bottom line: excellent. even the blaster looks good for a change. and it fits in the holster. i've already taught my daughter that han always shoots first with this figure. my rating is 5/5 =D=

now for luke. in my opinion, he is the disappointment of the 12" OTC as well as the VOTC. i will admit that the final product (VOTC) looks better than the publicity photos, but not much. i know he's harder to find so far, but he's just not worth it. let's compare him to VOTC Han: Han looks great, and his clothes are all plastic. why did Hasbro feel the need to use the soft goods for Luke's shirt? it looks ridiculous. these figures are just too small for fabric to ever look good. if luke had a plastic shirt, he might have been saved. even with that, i don't think the likeness is that great. now that i've given the negative, i'll give the positive...this figure is very poseable, has great play value, and beats most of the luke figures available. (i've always thought the luke figures needed work) if this figure was part of the basic line, i'd like it more. but for the 10 dollar super-special vintage line, i think they could have done better. 2.75/5

i'll review the others if i get extras to open.

Yeah, Juke, good question there... Why DID they make the Unleashed Bossk (or Aayla)? Or why are they making IG-88 or Aurra Sing for that matter? I still don't get it... If they wanted to release some minor characters so that they can save the remaining major characters for future lines, they still have a lot of other minor characters to choose from that aren't as minor as bossk, ig-88, etc.

hehehehehhe... I just read my last sentence. It sounds so retarded. =) Anyway, you get my point. They can pick Lando, a pair of ewoks, Tarkin or someone else than an average Joe would still recognize.

Rebelwookie, you really don't like VOTC luke? I find him pretty sweet. Ben is a little bit of a disppointment, IMO. Although he looks great, he cannot stand without slightly bending his waist (balancing problem). Also, the problem with clothed figures is that you cannot get the correct texture. Since Leia and Ben's cloaks are 1 piece, that means the torso portion should have been cloth too (which they aren't). Finally, Ben's torso portion and robe are not of the same colour.
