A Thrawn anthology movie where Thrawn fights a secret war against a Yuuzzhan Vong type threat in the Unknown Regions would make an awesome standalone film or trilogy. But I can settle for an epic quadrilogy by Zahn about Thrawn's secret war against threats in the Unknown Regions.
With book 4 set years after Endor and including the line ‘Thrawn briefly returned to known space following the Battle of Endor, faking his death to avoid being caught up in the Wars endgame on Jakku.’ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Those stupid fox marketing dolts have ruined the minds of people everywhere. Quadrilogy is a made up word. It didn’t exist before that stupid Alien boxset. And now there are more than four movies, so Fox released their filthy beast upon our culture, then eliminated the need for it. Tetralogy is the correct word to use for a sequence of 4. You could also use a quartet. Sent from my Ornithopter using The Force
Absolutely, and if I'm not mistaken this might be the first time Zahn's written adult Anakin Skywalker before.
Ric Olié's life really went down the drain after that whole misadventure with the trade federation...
Joking aside, it is actually sort of bizarre we're the closest we've ever come to Thrawn vs the Yuuzhan Vong. And if that happens I'm making a Thrawn vs Nom Anor poll. You mods can't stop me. I'm doing it. It's the versus thread Lit deserves, even if you don't think Lit needs it.
I'm thinking any extra galactic beings, also hinted at in Aftermath, won't be Vong...but will have some kind of relationships to Snoke and, by extension, the FO. I wondered if he was one of those beings...but his English is too good, IMO. Although Filoni almost did bring the Vong back...so it is possible. I just don't think it will happen. I'm glad to hear this. It seems we've gotten a lot of background stories, good or not, finally I want to see new adventures. Whereas books like Tarkin, Thrawn, & Phasma may or may not be good we need to see more of this type of book.
I thought they were pretty good. I'm OK with existing characters being fleshed out as long as they're interesting. A lot of my excitement around this book is because of the foundation Thrawn now has in the first book, and in Rebels.
The announcement of this second book makes me wonder if this isn't the Trilogy he mentions in the star wars books facebook chat way back in 2011, (I think) he did say back then that the second book would have Thrawn teaming up with Vader due to there beings assassins after him, Itcould alsomean we are getting a third book along the lines. Ether way I'm looking forward to it.
I think the extragalactic threat is best seen as just Thrawn's backstory. But I guess we will see. Missa ab iPhona mea est.
I'm inclined to think that Snoke (or something relating to him) has wholly replaced the Vong as the threat that has Thrawn worried. But having said that, I think if he and Vader are up against some kind of Unknown Regions threat, it'll probably be something smaller, perhaps subservient to Snoke. Maybe a faction of Proto-First Order, sans the Imperial influences that would later come about...a group that worships some unseen, supreme being...
Yes this has me intrigued. Ever since I read the first Thrawn book and he mentioned to the Emperor about the unseen threats that reside in the Unknown Regions.
Whatever that was said in 2011 would have little bearing on what would be going on presently as that would have been prior to the Disney purchase. Zahn may of had some ideas running through his mind back then that he is now putting down. But that would have been a completely different universe back then that he was talking about so he obviously would have to alter a lot of things to make it jive with what is currently going on.
Spoiler Don't know if this is considered a spoiler, just wanted to say I'm kinda dissapointed this book is only 320 pages I had hoped it would be closer to 450-500.
Wow, this is a disappointment in my eyes, too! Spoiler Way too short! More like a novella than a novel. If it covers flashbacks as well as foiling a new threat, then there is not enough room for long plots. Although to be fair, Zahn usually doesn't spend much time with descriptions, so perhaps a focus on action? Still, far too short. Waiting for 10 months and then it will be over in a matter of hours. ️ Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Spoiler I hope it's mainly gonna be Thrawn and Vader, I don't have a big interest in flashbacks to the clone wars of Thrawn and Anakin.
Any listing of page numbers anyone is seeing is just a placeholder. The book doesn't have a final page count. 320 is our default when we create a new listing. Take a deep breath. Remain calm. We go through this every time. It'll be okay.
