I'm more familiar with the Prequel trilogy, and more eager to discuss how the following idea relates to Episode III.

In each Star Wars film, it seems as though an equal amount of time is spent on each planet included in that movie-so much so that if there is any difference in time, it's very difficult to determine.

Think about Episode I: The first 30 minutes or so is on Naboo, and although what seems like a longer time is spent on Tatooine and Coruscant, they return to Naboo later. Episode II is even more complicated: if I had to guess which planet the setting occupied more of, I wouldn't know what to guess. I say to myself, well I guess they didn't spend that much time on Kamino, but then I remember, the long conversation with Lama Su, the touring of the clone facility, Obiwan trying to solve the puzzle, his first meeting with Jango and Boba, and then his fight with them. Or I'll say surely there wasn't very much time spent on Tatooine, but let's not forget talking with Watto, a long visit with the Lars, searching for and talking with mother, venting to Padme and the funeral.

Anyway, after all my rambling, I guess what I'm trying to say is this: The crew of every Star Wars film has done an excellent job balancing the time spent on each planet. Given the large number of planets anticipated and confirmed to be in Episode III, will they be able to achieve this again? Hopefully planets will not be used as mere pit-stops, for lack of a better term. If Yoda, is jettisoned via escape pod to Dagobbah, for example, hopefully it won't just be like "Bye Yoda, Oh my, look at that lovely planet."

um, it has nothing to do with the crew. The amount of time spent on each planet has to do with the story.

Um, whoever directs and produces and writes the story together determine how much time will be spent where. Thank you for your input!

I think what he meant was that the term "crew" usually denotes the more technical side of films. The lighting people and the set designers and the best boy and so forth. So if you're assistant to the 3rd Make-Up technician, it's unlikely you'll be impacting how much time is spent on any given planet.

If you use the term to mean, in a larger sense, Lucas et al., it becomes more clear.

But, since I keep away from spoilers, I don't know how many planets are being speculated about in Ep. III and can't really comment.

I think you are right more-less, but to some extent. Generally you could say that time spent on one planet is sth about 30 min. but you must remember that there are places where we drop only for few moments - like Yavin 4 in ANH - and some others where we return over and over again - like Tatooine where everybody gets stucked (Luke, Anakin for many years and we with them :/ ).

    I'm obsessed with this!

    Time spent on each planet:

    episode I

    - Naboo: 43:57
    - Tatooine: 45:17
    - Coruscant: 16:02

    episode II

    - Coruscant: 40:32
    - Naboo: 12:54
    - Kamino: 10:40
    - Tatooine: 15:47
    - Geonosis: 41:21

    Totals:

    - Naboo: 56:51
    - Tatooine: 1:01:10
    - Coruscant: 57:34
    - Kamino: 10:40
    - Geonosis: 41:21

Forgive my geekness, I thought this might be useful.

    ANH:

    - Tatooine: 41:35
    - Yavin: 9:33

    ESB:

    - Hoth: 29:26

I got bored halfway ESB. Measuring Yavin was a painsteaking event during the battle!

Note: these are European figures. due to the PAL system movies run slightly faster (and more intense 8-}) here. average 5 minutes per movie. And I used the DVD's and SE videos BTW.

That's just great ... Would have been even better though, if how much time is spent in space was included, but I guess that would be whatever time is left for each movie. :)

Actually, "Space" is the most used setting in the Star Wars Saga (not even counting space-stations), followed closely by Tatooine, which will clock in about 2:15:00 (or more, depending on episode III.)
