‘TOP GUN: MAVERICK’ TAKING FLIGHT FOR SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2019 I pretty sure Tom Cruise will appear. However, I'm doubtful there will be a couch on stage with him. I expect that they'll have a teaser trailer released on the internet shortly have the Hall H panel. It would suck if there wasn't anything released for the mass public.
I think you are right @Sith_Sensei__Prime since they will need to market the hell out of this film. For Generation Xer's and some older people, Top Gun is revered as almost being sacred. For younger generations, it's "Tom Cruise flew jets in the Navy back in the 1980's? Really??"
Maybe, but it's not really the type of film with a fanbase that demands a promo reel release ASAP, especially with the movie still over a year away.
Wait what else is Tom Cruise known for? Top Gun is at the top of the list...followed by maybe Few Good Men...then further down Mission Impossible and Minority Report...and Scientology....
He's known for: Risky Business Mission Impossible series Jerry McGuire Knight and Day War of the Worlds Top Gun Few Good Men Tropic Thunder And one of my favorites for which he should of been nominated: The Last Samuri Hobbies include: Scientology Couch jumping Shocking Oprah Being pranked on the red carpet
Knight and Day and Tropic Thunder certainly top Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia, cocktail, The Colour of Money, Eyes Wide Shut and Interview with a Vampire. I’m certainly not a fan, but “known for” does not mean “films I can remember off the top of my head” (All films listed are ones I can name off the top of my head)
Yeah, the younger generation be like Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War... I think some people feel Top Gun is sacred. I saw when I was 16 years old and ended up seeing it 6 times during it's theatrical run, the most of any movie until The Force Awakens, which tied it. At its time, Top Gun was the number one movie in theaters and Danger Zone (IIRC) was number one song. Take My Breathe Away was also a chart topper and the movie revitalized the Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Loving Feeling. Additionally, the movie was so quotable that much of it has become part of pop culture. I had a movie poster hanging on my wall. I'm not sure what type of fanbase the film has now, but Tom Cruise is still relevant. Perhaps there's not a demand to see a trailer for the movie going audience, but trades and media that cover the film industry will certainly help promote the film should a trailer drop at SDCC. And with WB not having a Hall H panel at SDCC, it's an opportunity for Paramount to get some shine.
I’m totally down for this. Just give me dogfights and I’ll be happy. Ed Harris, Jennifer Connolly, and JON HAMM are just cherries on top.
They shutdown production @Guidman during filming so he can learn how to fly. It's amazing what they can do now camera wise compared to what was possible 30 years ago. Just the cockpit shots alone was not even something they thought was really possible 30 years ago. I am so in btw for the movie already I buy tickets if they went on sale now.
