Truth, justice, and the Coruscanti way. That's probably someone's slogan, maybe we'll find out here!

    Goodness me, WHAT AN EPISODE!!!

Far out, that was gripping. This had such a 'The Jedi' vibe from The Mandalorian and the music, just wow.

This was simply amazing, watching Dooku's decent was both chilling and...dare I say it...understandable.

Really nice to see the competency of (without spoilers) his apprentice too. Seriously, seriously top shelf stuff.

    This was just great.
This episode perfectly highlights the entire problem with the Jedi Order in the PT. Their "defense" essentially boils down to "we were just following orders", "we serve the senate", as if it abolishes them of any and all responsibility and the necessity to think, to do what's right. When the senate, the state itself becomes corrupt, how can you still serve it? How can you turn a blind eye to everything that's happening? Compliance and arrogance at best, corruption at worst.
    "You serve the senate!"
"No. We serve the people of this Republic."

Something most of the high council seems to have forgotten.
Dooku was absolutely right and an utter badass in this one.
Jedi serve the system, the system which in itself has become a vehicle for greed and corruption, people are slaves to it, the system no longer serves them.
And why would the Jedi consider that such system is worth saving is beyond me. Why would they consider that using an army of human slaves bred for war to protect it is a valid moral compromise.

    10/10, amazing.
Beautifully animated, incredible cinematography and music. Indeed, reminded me a lot of The Jedi episode from The Mandalorian. Even the musical cues were sometimes the same.

Qui-Gon was also pretty cool. His compassion saved the day and Dooku from committing something he would regret, at least at that time ;)

Agreed and I wonder if Qui-gon could have saved him further if he hadn't been killed in episode 1.

Is Qui-Gon already a Jedi Knight in this episode? No Padawan hair braid.

It's hard to say, honestly. Wasn't Dooku a Sith prior to Naboo?

It's vague. I think killing Yaddle is what granted him the title Darth Tyranus. Palpatine said after that, "Rise, my friend." Very reminiscent of when Palpatine christened Anakin as Darth Vader. It may be vague to avoid any possible canon clashes with novels and such, but you may interpret it however you like. I think he got his Sith title there. Before that, he was being corrupted and used by Palpatine, and Dooku worked with him willfully, out of disdain for the Republic.
But it is clearly seen in the episode, that he does everything reluctantly. He is fed up with the Republic and the Jedi, but he knows he's doing possibly wrong things by erasing Kamino and all that Sifo-Dyas stuff. But the news of Qui-Gon's death is what finalized his decision and reassured him. The Council did not believe him about the Sith threat, he was not enough to deal with Maul, and he got killed because of it. I loved the little detail when he was standing near that tree, contemplating Qui-Gon's death. The score was very reminiscent of "Padme's Ruminations" from Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin made a choice to go and help Palpatine.

I love how the Dooku stories acknowledge that the Padawan looks after the Master sometimes, too.

Very heartwarming to see Qui-Gon looking out for Dooku’s mental state when he needed him. Kid was wise beyond his years.❤️❤️❤️❤️ #TalesOfTheJedi

Although I liked it and agree with many of the comments above, goodness gracious was that some whiplash after watching the plotting and deliberate pace of Andor. This was problem, scenery, confrontation, action, quick Dark Side interlude, resolution.

Edit: There's room for both approaches.

I loved the European folk tale vibes of the village and setting of this episode. Made a perfectly fitting environment for our most refined and regal Count Dooku, harkening to Transylvanian intrigue. It also works well as a sort of 'prehistory' to the Prequels, as if we'd gone back around 20 to 30 years in real life inspiration as well as in-universe time, like an 1880's take rather than the 1920's Art Deco PT.

With the samurai-like Jedi role, and the western gunfight outside a barn, this was a very fun blend of Star Wars genre tropes :)

Great episode. I liked the way how they used medieval look for the village, but still mixed it with recognizable star wars styles. We even see animated version of what I call "a Jedha radiator" A technological prop used a lot in Star Wars since Rogue One. It is the object right behind Chirrut in this picture next to a wall, another one is seen on his right side and one more in the left side under the smaller arch:
It has since then been used as common piece of background in Solo, Mandalorian and Andor at least. So whatever it is it seems to be very standard SW-technology across the galaxy.

A weird nerdy thing to pay attention to I guess :D

Anyways good episode and Dooku certainly has a point. That senator really sucks.

Yeah I got a real gothic vibe from it, and the music as they walked through the village felt like it was from the sort of monster movies Christopher Lee was famous for.

Dog was mentioned back in the very first Star Wars book ever 1977 novel. We saw weird space dog in Resistance, but since wolves are a thing.... and of course Corellian hounds...and mastiffs.... there are a lot of dogs in Star Wars actually... akk dogs too

Agreed! I was half expecting a Headless Horseman from the vibe of that village.
Great episode to show Dooku's beginning discontent with the Republic.

Really dug the atmosphere of this one and the balance of friction and respect between Dooku and Qui-Gon. They greyness of it all is maybe too on the nose, but it still works.

7/10 - Yeah, I'm slightly biased as Dooku isn't really my draw into this series but this was definitely a solid setup that shows both Dooku's disillusionment with the reality of the Jedi vs. the ideas of the Jedi but doesn't shy away from showing he's not a pure guy either - he's resorting to dark side tactics even this early on. Admittedly, I would have been more engaged if I'd realized from the start that Dooku's padawan was Qui-Gon - I'll cop to feeling like an idiot when they "revealed" that at the end. I mean, we've known this since AOTC but it's been a long time since I've thought about that.

I like how they surprise us with Dooku's interest in helping the economically exploited. As an aristocratic Jedi, one would assume he might not care, but he's not a classist as we might suppose.

    Obviously another 10.
Beautiful all around. I just LOVE seeing Dooku's past, and of course Qui Gon at a very young age. This is if I am not mistaken the farthest we have gone into the past in the Star Wars timeline in any visual medium, not including Visions, since its canon status is yet TBD I suppose.

I love how this episode emphasizes on the fact that the Jedi were not the corrupt ones, but it was some politicians across the galaxy, who were not kept in check by the Senate because of the sheer size of the galaxy. I also love how it's clear that Dooku is already on a dark path, and uses the dark side to try to resolve the situation, when clearly Qui Gon's unorthodox methods are far better and more peaceful. Something that Dooku even acknowledges.

Anakin, Dooku, and Windu all have a similar aspect of their fall to the dark side: justice.

Anakin Vader says it, “I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire!”

Dooku seeks justice and uses Force Choke, and then becomes Palpatine’s apprentice to bring justice to the corruption of The Republic.

Master Windu wanting justice says, “I am going to end this!”
Anakin, “Its not the Jedi Way!”
Masted Windu, “he has control of the courts, he is too dangerious to be left alive!”
