Both were visually stunning for their time. Both have great plots and characters. Both have great lines of dialogue. Both have great music. Both lived up to their hype.

But the one I chose lived up to its hype and changed the formula when compared to previous installments or incarnations of the story. Did the story in a different way and came out better. It also produced action figures that I believe rival Star Wars.

One of my favorite scenes...

RIPLEY
See you, Hicks.

Hicks is holding a wad of gauze plastered over his face.

HICKS
Dwayne. It's Dwayne.

Ripley grabs his hand. They share a moment, albeit
brief. Mutual respect in the valley of death.

RIPLEY
Ellen.

Well, seeing as I'm one of the few who didn't care for FOTR as much as the rest of that series, and how I am in love with the Queen, my vote will be obvious.

While I love Aliens, the best of the series, FOTR blew me away and is still my all time fave movie.

Well I got the results. Man was it close. For a while there the votes were literally alternating back and forth. One for Aliens, one for LotR, another for Aliens, then another for LotR. It was a dead heat for a while there.

Granted, I would've been fine with FOTR, but Aliens has 20 more years or so of history and viewings. And I don't think there has ever been a better bad guy alien than the Xenomorph.

Plus the Colonial Marines just kick major ***. Thanks, OB506 for doing this --it was fun.
