Ok I swear this is such a stupid question, but is there any way to direct the particles in a certain direction without the use of a light for the emitter?

EDIT: By the way, the Direction option is set to directional. Is there any way I can set an end point or anything for where I want the particles to end up (like the same settings for the start point)?

    Turn your Direction Spread down.

And no - you can't just tell the particles where to end up. You need to get them there with direction and forces.

Fixed the problem, don't worry =) The wind values just had to be turned up a lot higher then they were. Silly me. Lock/Delete this thread...

I have two questions about Trapcode Particular:

    (1) Is it operable with After Effects 6.5

    (2) Is it just a preset? Can I download it from somewhere or purchase it?

EDIT: Oh it's a plug-in. Which brings me to my next question. How to I, well, plug in plug-ins.

    1) Unless I'm very much mistaken, yes, there are versions that will work with 6.5
    2) It is a plugin. This means some separately-developed code that fits within After Effect's architecture, and will show up as a new Effect. You can purchase it from the Trapcode website - Trapcode.com, oddly.

Well worth the money - probably the most useful AE add-on I've bought.

I just googled it and went to their site. OUCH! $299.99. I'll get the trial for this one thing I'm doing but I will definitely need to save up to buy it later because it looks completely sweet. Or I can get it by other means ....

Oh and it works on AE 6.5! Woot! I sometimes hate that I have the version of AE that is to cut off to a huge updated with 7 and CS3. A lot of plug-ins and and presets don't work for 6.5 but will work with 7 and CS3 :(

You put them in your Plugins directory. The world explodes because of ease.

If you're serious about effects, and you use After Effects as your compositing and graphics package, 300 dollars is frankly an utter bargain. I've never got so much use and versatility out of a plugin so cheap.

I'm in high school. And I suppose I'm getting into it but I wouldn't go on to say I'm REALLY into it.

I'm in university, in the UK. Trust me, I'm not much better off.
