    THE BRIDGE

Pay your toll, answer the questions three, and just rock out!

    Here you can find out:

    (c) Other SCFF Business

Plus other important facts as we think of them... ;)

Please remember, this is an Advisory Thread and not a complaint or whining board (we already have one of those if someone feels the need).

Also, no nitpicking...if you feel the need to nitpick, please go down the hall and do it in private, and clean up after yourself when you are through.

*According to Nanny Jo, this is a Naughty Chair Exempt Zone, and some amount of seriousness will be allowed, only not too much seriousness, as then it gets way too serious. Savvy? *

Meeting Minutes ? Santa Cruz Fan Force

    Date: April 1st, 2007
Location: Science Meets Imagination Exhibit, Los Angeles
    Time: 4:00 PM ? 4:45 PM

In attendance: Siri Tachi, Master--Kenobi, Kai_Vandekar, Cassila Sanar, TionneHawk (by preapproved teleconference)

    Secretary: Kai_Vandekar

Proceedings: Meeting called to order at 4:00 PM by SCFF "The Light Side of Command" Siri-Tachi

    Motions:

    1. A motion was proposed, seconded, and passed to appoint Kai_Vandekar, who received the only nominations (4 in total) by PM, to the position of secretary/treasurer for the Santa Cruz Fan Force.

    2. A motion was proposed, seconded, and passed to change the title of Treasurer to Secretary within the Santa Cruz Fan Force to better reflect the nature of the position also known as "The Keeper of the Holocrons."

    3. A motion was proposed, seconded, and passed to use the ?Jedi and Sith slug? icons as the SCFF official mascots, for use on items such as t-shirts, the web site, patches, buttons, and other promotional items.

    Official Meetings:

Meeting dates and locations for the Santa Cruz Fan Force were established for the upcoming year:

    1. Celebration IV: This will be the first event of the new calendar. This is a working event for our members. A requirement for members of the SCFF attending as Fanforce members will be to volunteer at some point during the convention.

    2. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (June 9th (Tentative - this meeting date may be changed to the following week if more members can attend then)

    3. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Multi-Fan Force "Group Hug" Event (August, 11)

    4. Wondercon (February 2008)

    5. BayCon (May 2008)

    Action Items:

    1. The possibility of having t-shirts screen-printed was introduced by Siri Tachi. Research will be done on finding a cost-effective screen printer and estimates gathered for the cost of printing.

    2. A request was made by Siri Tachi to have a ?Qui Gon Jinn? slug, as it was mentioned that the SCFF slugs are both, effectively, apprentice slugs without a ?Master.? Kai_Vandekar agreed to work on this piece of artwork, following the end of April.

    3. Kai_Vandekar will research CafePress and Zazzle as possible venues for printing SCFF related items, such as buttons, mugs, etc. that can be made available to FanForce members and perhaps other interested parties.

    Open Issues:

    1. Unofficial Disneyland Day ? June 30. This will not be an official meeting time for the Santa Cruz Fan Force, but many members are planning to go.

    2. Las Vegas ?Spamalot? trip: Again, this is an unofficial Fanforce gathering, but interest was expressed. A date has not yet been decided upon. Master--Kenobi will gather information regarding how long the show will run, ticket prices, etc.

    3. SW Day at Lego Land ? possibility for unofficial event fun!

Meeting was closed at 4:45 pm by Siri-Tachi, The Light Side of Command

Thanks for the above. I hope that you are planning more 'official' events for SoCal, since it seems that CIV is the only one right now, and it seems a bit burdensome for those trying to achieve the 4-required membership, to keep having to go to NorCal, particularly when many of us are 'spread out all over' as has been acknowledged.

    Like, uh, Comic-Con?

Please keep in mind that this is an advisory thread only. It is our intent to disseminate information only at this location.

However since once again there are concerns with regards to our meeting locations, (first with concerns regarding too few meetings in the Northern California area; and now with concerns regarding too few meetings in the Southern California area); I hope this will address the issue at hand.

During our last meeting at The Star Wars Meets Imagination Exhibit at Los Angeles, April 1, 2007 ? a Southern California Event I might add - members in attendance voted for the up and coming calendar year regarding future dates for meetings and events.

Most, if not all members, will be attending the Star Wars Celebration (CIV) Convention, (a second Southern California event) working the Fan Force tables and/or other events not only for SCFF/FF but other originations as well. No meeting per say will be held. However it is an official working event for SCFF members. Volunteering at this event would be highly recommended for memberships. Volunteering at the Fan Force tables might be a good starting point.

As most SCFF members are attending CIV, and too few will be attending ComicCon or the Unofficial Star Wars Day at Disneyland this year (because of CIV), the remaining meetings were scheduled around dates and locations when the majority of members could attend. SCFF meetings are at times scheduled around Star Wars-related events to maximize attendance and minimize financial hardships for those wishing to attend.

I am sorry you missed our last Southern California event and meeting. Please feel free to volunteer at one of the SCFF authorized tables for membership credit at our next Southern California working event.

I can only say, our planned up and coming ?Multi-Fan Force Group Hug? for SCFF with a visit to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk is one of our group?s favorites! Pinky Dare on the Big Dipper anyone??

For anyone wishing to attend either of our two scheduled Santa Cruz meetings or any of our future events, please check the Trolling for Information Thread for the most up date news and information.

Okay, since this is in our Trolling for Information Thread, and it is a ?Nanny Joe Free Zone?, I can not go to the Naughty Chair for this offense!!! GOT THAT MASTER K????? LOL!!!

    See you at CIV!

For this one time only, I am going to add a comment on this thread. From here on out, I will simply advise us all to take any discussion arising from notes or announcements posted on this thread, and to make a NEW thread to have a conversation. That way, members will not have to wade through posts here in order to read meeting minutes, et al.

That being said, we did (as Siri mentioned) go to great effort at the meeting to find locations and dates that would best accomodate the most members. As it had been brought up earlier (by ScootyPuffJr) that we had far too many meetings down south (for a Bay Area FF) and not enough up north, we did additionally try to make certain we had meeting dates up north in order to address this concern. Obviously, ideally, we could have a perfect balance between the two, but this doesn't always happen. As Siri mentioned, this last meeting was southern and posted well in advance, and the CIV meeting will be as well.

If there is further debate on this issue, please create a new thread for it. I will consider debate on this thread closed as of now, leaving this space open purely for meeting minutes, announcements and other official declarations. :)

    Thanks.

    - Kai
