Yeah... I keep saying that the Machete Order would solve all these problems. Lol.

I hear you....yet, I love all of the SW films and don't want to do a head cannon watch order that eliminates some of the films.

Machete Order ≠ Eliminating some of the movies. If you want, you can just watch 4 and 5, then 1, 2 and 3, then 6, and then 7, 8 and 9.

While you're at it, why not watch ROTJ until Luke has realized that Leia is his sister, then go back to I-III, then pick it up from the rebel briefing?

Is the birth of the twins not a more dramatic payoff for the "there is another" line than ROTJ?

    Good point.

I don't really believe in "macheteing" up the viewing experience for a first-time viewer either way, though. It disrupts the narrative and dramatic flow.
Each trilogy was made to be watched as a trilogy and they're stronger that way. I'd just show them one trilogy at a time.

And that is an extremely offensive, insulting and discriminating statement, NOT an "unpopular opinion". Frankly, this reminds me of Nazi ideology. I happen to be a supporter of the release order. I hope you are not a judge.... I might get the death sentence just for having that preference.
If that was irony, sorry, I don't see it, and it does go too far.

It's obviously super ridiculous to think that people shouldn't be allowed to be parents just because they prefer to watch some movies in a certain order, so it should be taken as a humorous exaggeration.
That's not to say you have to like it - everyone doesn't have that sense of humor - but yeah, it was definitely a joke.

Because it’s not nice to cut a movie in half.

Yup I agree. Urging Eugenics based on Star Wars preferences is not appropriate at all. And before you say it was a joke, it really is not funny at all.

Release order is fine with me. That way, you actually know before watching the PT that, no matter how bad things get, the good guys will win and things will be OK. Otherwise, without that reassurance, ROTS would be unbearably depressing.

You have the same effect with every order of watching, though. If you watch the movies in Chronological Order, then good triumphs in the end. If you watch the movies in Release Order, then you will know that good triumphs in the end, even if the last movie you will watch is the sad one in which evil wins. If you watch the movies in the Machete Order, then good triumphs in the end, too. The effect of knowing that good triumphs in the end is always there, regardless of the order in which you watch the movies.

Given that finding something to be boring is a purely subjective thing, I can say it: the Original Trilogy is boring. Better made than the Prequels? Yes, but more boring for me. The Prequels entertain me way more than the Originals.

On the topic of release vs chronological order: I can do with either, but i agree with what others have said that the reveal that Anakin becomes Vader is far more impactful for modern audiences than Vader being Luke's father, i have a friend who watched the movies in 2019 and he didin't know, he was blown away by ROTS, and was very satisfied with ROTJ.

Watching the PT first maybe enhances ROTJ hence why i like it so much (i'm pretty sure i watched ROTJ last the first time around though i don't remember the exact order, i was 7 lol).

My unpopular opinion is that Kenobi notably enhances Obi-Wan's character in the OT, which, ever since the prequels, felt weird in retrospect with his attitude towards Vader and all the lying and manipulation towards Luke.

I agree Kenobi is enhanced by his limited series. He seems more relatable than in the PT where he is the perfect paladin.

He has some vulnerability in the Prequel Trilogy but this feeling of him being too "clean" is definetly there.

I respectfully disagree. Without the PT, the OT is simply a classic fairy tale of good guys vs overwhelming bad guys. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you lose a lot of the weight the PT gives in terms of plot and helping to know the world and characters. The PT made the whole saga a story of redemption and finding balance. I don't think watching just the OT provides that, which is I think why George wants us to start with TPM.

Unpopular Opinion, Sith designs have become too derivative, they either look like Vader, Maul, or Darth Bane/Malgus. When we had in legends very unique designs like:

    Naga Sadow

    Marko Ragnos

    Exar Kun

Now most Sith are bald & pale Nosferatu types or Darth Vader masked wannabes.

Marko Ragnos, he created the Dark Lord duo of Exar-Kun and Ulic Qel Droma. :)

He was able to reach beyond the grave and christen new dark lords.

It might've been funny if Rey had turned out to be a Kenobi because Korkie Kryze was her father and his true parentage was covered up to hide Satine's affair with a Jedi. ;)

Perhaps Shin Hati in Ahsoka is a Kenobi. ;)
