I can't find the pic I posted before but if you look at the top of the tower (sorry, ship) there appears to be two, maybe three sections which would match the lozenge shaped rooms that we have seen in the trailer. We know that there is the 'Club Room' and the level above is the 'Trophy Room'. Additionally, if you look at the trailers closely mountains can be seen out of the windows during the interior shoots.
TLTE. So, looking back over some of Howard's SM posts, this one seemed to be on Mimban with maybe a wrecked AT-DT on the right hand side. The cannon seemed to match yet I could not work out where the armour plating was on the sides as seen in the trailer. Had a look at the screen shot and it appears that the side plating is actually the clamps that are on the underside of the Haulers. This would explain why the AT Haulers have guns up front if they are used on the battlefield rather than just cargo haulers. 'The best pilot in the Galaxy' could well start his flying career piloting one of these....
I'm assuming that myself. There's a stylistic connection between Dryden's den (the interior) and the exterior markings on that ship. Sort of a Star Wars spin on Art Deco. @CrazyOldJedi My guess is that Han is imprisoned with Chewie on Mimban. Chewie and Han are then freed by Beckett and Val. Han and Chewie then agree to do the train heist on Vandor with Beckett and Val. Chewie goes along with it, but his condition is that they then go to Kessel to free his wookie brethren. Beckett bites the dust on Vandor. They rest of the crew go to Kessel (though Lando and L33T do so reluctantly), free the wookies, and do the Kessel Run. Chewie has a permanent Life Debt to Han.
Great speculation Bor Mullet, agreed with pretty much all points. I was wondering how Kessel fit into everything and Chewbacca forcing the issue makes sense, my theory being it was another heist they attempt. Pretty sure Beckett survives Vandor though. He’s seen shooting Kessel guards in the trailer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
in the kessel description it' says luxurt for the elite, harsh poverty for everyone else. so.. do we think dryden is on kessel now?
Imperial heavy TIE fighter | StarWars.com So that TIE Fighter is the "TIE/rb" or 'Heavy TIE Fighter' Doesn't say what the 'rb' stands for, but the 'r' probably means reinforced.
I didn't notice this poster until now: Are those CR-90's supposed to be imperial ships at this point in time, or are they commonplace for other factions as well (not thinking RA here)?
Didn’t notice those either. Odd, as we haven’t seen those corvettes anywhere else yet (though we also haven’t seen the yaks). Does this perhaps imply some Rebel involvement in the Kessel stuff?
Perhaps this has been discussed, but I'll throw my two cents in here as well -- certainly the falcon gets all nasty on the inside on Mimban, correct? Everything appears to be swampy and filthy there...it would make the most sense to me, but who knows where that all falls into place.
i don't believe it's ever there. mimban seems to to be near the beginning where han and becket are imperial conscripts. then they escape the battle. the falcon isn't just dirty. it's missing panels inside and out.
It's interesting because the Rebel Alliance doesn't exist yet. There are numerous rebel cells throughout the galaxy but they haven't all come together to form the Rebellion. I do think we'll see a battle on Mimban so I wonder if the locals are being supported by one of these early cells.
Here's a good look at it. This is a model from Bandai, not a toy so accuracy is guaranteed; As for the combatants on Mimban. The visual dictionary gives us these guys (on the left) who bear a striking resemblance to the Coway (natives of Mimban along with the Mimbanites) of the EU. The question is, is what is Chewie doing there?
Chewie's a slave at this point. I talked about this in another thread but it seems to me that the Empire is excavating Sith artifacts on Mimban (Howard tweeted out a picture of something that looks like an artifact and has Sith writing on it) and I would bet that Chewie and other Wookiees are there to help excavate the site.
In addition to having Solo marketed at Denny's, there could have been an Arby's tie-in, with a TIE/rb sandwich. Essentially, it's two pieces of hexagonal bread with a ball of roast beef in the middle. I guess they could still sell this sandwich at Denny's, though.
Yes, it seems that they are not prisoners on Kessel after all. There is a location called The Pen on Mimban, I would guess that that is where the slave labour is imprisoned. We know that Chewie owes Han a life debt and presumably this is something to do with their time there and escape. Only head-scratchers in this scenario is how did Han learn the Wookiee language? It appears he probably didn't spend much time with Chewie before their release as he's asking him 'introductory' questions in the trailers. Maybe Han was the 'friendly' prison guard trope?
So bets on how the escape ship gets shuttled during the movie since it's clearly not there in ANH? My guess: Either someone like Beckett or Qi'ra backstabs the gang, grabs the loot and escapes in it but then gets shot down. Or they're doing the Kessel Run, something bad happens and someone has to sacrifice themselves and gets into the escape ship to take something down to save the rest of the team. I predict more the first than the latter, none of the gang seems like the sacrifice themselves type.
Just a guess but I think they're going to stick to George's idea of Han being a war orphan on Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars (minus him knowing Yoda and Chewbacca.) The Empire then comes in and quarantines the planet and ships Han back to his homeworld of Corellia.
The new "Last Shot" book seems to clear things up. Lando souped up the Falcon to suit his aesthetic taste. Attached all sorts of cosmestics to it. Han takes all of that stuff off. Right. To me, it looks like Han and Chewie end up in prison together on Mimban, and later, they free a bunch of wookies and droids on Kessel. As for Han learning the wookie language, I think Han is asking Chewie introductory questions while they are first imprisoned on Mimban. I'm going to guess that when Han asks Chewie his name, they are being transported (as prisoners) in one of those AT haulers (or another transport ship). Then we smash cut two years into the future, and Han understands his language.
BIB - I think the AT Hauler shot is on Vandor, probably before the Heist. I don't think prisoners would be transported on an open gantry like that. Remember that Han asks Chewie his age on the Falcon and then finds out he can pilot as well. If they had been together for some time then Han would already know that. My guess(es) would be that he learns it either; From a gang member on Corellia (although I'm not sure Wookiees would be allowed to run around on that planet). Or... From the imprisoned Wookiees on Mimban.
