I liked the Sith character. I think that was the most interesting thing about this one.

For me seeing the dark side used to resurrect the dead was spellbinding.

I kinda enjoyed the Hidden Fortress vibes and the unique animation style, and the ending was also a nice surprise. It was interesting that they chose the one with perhaps the most depressing ending as the last one.

The design of the Sith was also pretty unique and had very Japanese demon look.

The abrupt ending worked better for me in this one than in Lop and Ocho. It felt like the story was completed, even if it wasn't necessarily a happy ending. Otherwise a decent if not outstanding episode. More about the journey than the destination, and it was a beautiful journey even if the art style was unorthodox.

This was definitely the weirdest of the bunch, and I think one of the best (if not the best). Visually, in particular. Up there with The Duel for me.

It was interesting to see Star Wars Hidden Fortress considering how much Star Wars is influenced by Hidden Fortress so it goes all the way back around. And I actually really like the twist, abrupt ending to it, didn't see it coming but embracing the darkness was really cool. Animation is a bit wonky in places though but it worked for a distinct vibe.

Seen it a few more times and it’s definitely my favorite now. Followed by the Elder, the Duel and the Ninth Jedi.

Pretty good and beautiful visuals! But could have been a bit longer to get more exposure to the final battle...

Awful, 4 out of 10 cause it had some redeeming qualities.
We have seen all of this with Anakin before. And much better. Meh.

This one captures the strangeness that different mythologies can present (as opposed to the airbrushed similarities across cultures that we get in pop monomyth material). And I found that interesting and bold in a way that Star Wars often hasn’t been. The unsettling, almost atonal electronic tribal drum score, the almost gooey (and IMO, striking) animation style, etc. It felt like the least mainstream take.

I somehow can’t help but compare it to the Village Bride, perhaps because of the slow journey through the wilderness and the flash memories, but I like the less orthodox Japanese flavor of Akakiri much more. Old myths are often quite uncomfortable, and not the sanitized Disney-esque type of material we’re used to. And I think this short captures that.
I actually thought this one short was better than the entirety of the prequels. ;)

In this one the Dark Side actually did save his loved one from dying. Seems like a pretty big difference to me.

And he didn't get burned alive in exchange.

I guess Masago > Sidious, at least when it comes to delivering.
